In Memory Of.......

Am so sorry I missed Mike's post when originally posted. My mother died of this horrible disease also, and to helplessly watch her deteriorate was the most heart wrenching of experiences. But unlike Mike, I doubt I'll see my mother or grandmother in heaven:ohno. But we are promised Jesus will wipe away every tear, so I know I won't mourn.

Adrian or Wayne, most of us here at RF know very little about Mike, except what he posted. We don't know anything about his family, the number of children he may have left behind, etc.
Through his posts & articles, he wove his way so tenderly into all our hearts, and we're just naturally curious to know something more about him, since he actually said very little about himself or his
immediate family. The lovely tribute he wrote about his grandmother is an exception, but, unless I missed something, I don't think most of us know anything more about him.
Unless you think this request is out of line somehow, I believe I speak for more than just myself. I would love to see an obituary that was likely written in his memory.

Wayne knew him longest and best. He will be returning from an out-of-town trip on Wednesday. With the family's permission, I know he will post the information you desire.

Did I miss something? I knew Pastor Mike had not long to live according to the doctors, but didn't know he'd gone Home yet. I've enjoyed reading his posts, and his humble Godly wisdom was a joy to read.

It appears you did miss something! Mike passed away on the afternoon of Thanksgiving Day, so spent 1/2 of the day in his earthly home and the rest of the day and all of eternity in the throne room of heaven!

He has a Thank You thread in Christian Chat and a Prayer thread and it has been posted in several other places as well.

In one of the other threads, Adrian, I suggested to another member that we might ask the mods to consider putting all of Mike's posts in a sticky. Not sure exactly how it would be organized in order to include them all, but that is what you dear mods are so good at. . .organizing this forum for the rest of us to enjoy. And we do so appreciate it, too, Sir. :hat:

Mike would not want all of what he wrote to be put a special section. He would have hoped his words would have inspired each of you to hear the call of God in each of your lives. He would have loved to see and read in your post and threads all God is calling you to do, not to see all reread his words over and over. He would have wanted all of you to create your own words, not to honor his. The greatest way you can remember Mike is to remember what he said:

"But I do want to take a minute to ask a favor from each of you. Please continue to pray for each other, uplift each other, challenge each other, and above all, continue to inspire each other. I see in many of you incredible gifts, gifts the Lord is just waiting to use in amazing ways. At the time in which we live, the Lord needs those gifts used more than ever. I pray that as you continue to inspire each other, many of you will see how the Lord yearns to use those gifts. How He can bring the gifts so many of you have to life, and how many lives He can reach through the incredible gifts all of you have.

Father I pray for all of those on this forum. I pray that the words they post will not only touch the lives of those here today, but will touch the heart of those who may see them tomorrow. May each of their words uplift You, may each of their actions glorify You, and may each of their lives be used to bring others to You. May each of the gifts they have be tools in Your hands, molded and sculpted in powerful ways, ways that will make each a craftsman of the Cross. As You craft them, may each here come to see what a day with You brings. With You by our side, it is not about the days we have, but what we do with each day.
"

The best way to remember Mike is to hear and follow the call the Lord has for you today, and share with all here what He is doing in your life. Mike would not want you to sit still remembering his words, but writing your own. For those words to fill this forum, and for those words to inspire others to then also fill this forum with what the Lord is doing in their lives. For you to pray and inspire each other with the time we have left. And encouraging all the others in what they are doing for the Lord. That would have made Mike happy.

The best way we can honor Mike is to so fill this forum with our own stories of what the Lord is doing that his words are hard to find. By doing that we are showing him that we heard all the words the Lord inspired him to write and speak.

Let's not gather Mike up and stick him in one place-It wouldn't be big enough anyway. I love searching through the forums and finding little nuggets of Mike. Whether it is a sermon that my attention has been directed to, or just the way he responded to a prayer request. It would lose something turning his work into a reference source. We can best honor Mike by continuing his work, Loving and caring for each other and discovering and using our own gifts.

Just my thoughts

I am rather blown over with the bolded and emphasized part of the quote. For aprox the last week to two weeks, I've considered writing my testimony down here on the forum. The Lord has absolutely left me "gob-smacked" as my British friends would say, with what He's been doing and working out in my life lately. it's not "huge", but I can see His fingerprints all over it, and it humbles me with seeing His deep Love and Care for a little ol' back country dairy girl.

Thanks, Wayne, for your kind response to my earlier post re: a sticky request. That's what is so wonderful about RF; we talk things out and help one another to see another perspective.
Thank you for yours. God bless you for being such a caring, liaison for us when Mike was so very ill at the last. All of us appreciate you very much for doing that.

Your idea for a special place for Mike's writings was a good one Lynn, actually, IMVHO. But we really do already have 3 places like that!!! One is his blogspot, one is EVANGELISM on RF, and one is SERMONS, PREACHER'S PULPIT on RF.

A generous smacking of all his other posts are found throughout the forum, and it will be so nice (if we have not already run across them) to run across them as we read and post our own thoughts! Again, IMHO.

You always manage to say just the right thing in just the right way. Now, just how do you do that?
