I'm reluctant to post this.

The reason I'm posting this, with reluctance, not wishing to be rebuked
for possibly "crying wolf", is that the Gulf of Mexico oil spill may be MORE
than an Environmental, political, and economic disaster.
It may even be a METEOROLOGICAL disaster and even a possible
coming GEOLOGICAL disaster of unimagined proportions .

And since some of you live on or near the Mississippi Delta, please pack your bags!

I know a geologist who worked in Venezuela, around Lake Maracaibo.
Did you know that in the past 100 years, the gradual (CONTROLLED) pumping out
of oil from below Lake Maracaibo has caused the ground to SLUMP about 20-30 feet
around that lake? That's the info I got from him.

Now IMAGINE the ground of the Mississippi Delta (including around New Orleans) slumping
20-30 feet, and that in less than 5 years, maybe two?
New Orleans and most of the Mississippi Delta would disappear under water forever.

If such slumping triggered an underwater landslide near the Delta, you're talking about
a tsunami being triggered that can wash over the Delta and New Orleans, drowning 1,000's maybe
over 1/4 million people.

There is alot of speculation on what will be the result of all this oil thats gushing into the gulf. I don't think anyone has a clear answere and its anyones guess what may happen. I believe that the damage already done and whats to come is more than whats being admitted and far worse than we can imagine.

I was born on the Texas coast, not ten miles from the beach in Freeport near Galveston. I can imagin how this is going to impact everything connected to this area, fishing, tourism, boating, etc.

I cant say I feel any better now that the President wants to "kick some butt" and frankly the locals could probably do a better job without BPs help and the governments help.

The ironic thing is I planned on a short vacation to New Orleans several months back, and i'm leaving on Saturday. Before, I was looking forward to a nice getaway, good food and see the sights. Now I don't know what to expect or what I will find. I will report in when I get back.

I agree withTT, we just don't know how bad this spill really is and how it will affect us. The latest story going around is that if the oil gets into the river, it will contaminate our water system and we'll be forced to evacuate, etc.
What I'm saying is, there are sooooo many what if's that we could literally go mad if we focused on those things. I can't do that and equally put my faith and trust in the Lord.
Texas, please come to New Orleans. Everything is basically the same here. Our food is still great and safe to eat but the prices are a little higher.

Thanks for the invite anath! I had planned on touring some old homes, eatin some good food and good music! I also want to visit the D-day Museum and hopefully meet with the curator. Besides all the problems with the oil, its supposed to rain the whole time. This will not make TT a happy camper if it rains the whole time:(

I've read several stories on the internet that are horror stories to say the least. I'm not one to believe everything I read and yet I'm not one to throw everything out as just hype neither. I do believe that this OIL will forever change life as we know it here in the Gulf states.

I'm not a "conspiracy theorist" neither, but I do have my suspicions and believe I have every right to- that there is way more than meets the eye.

all I know is, I am very saddened to see God's beautiful creation destroyed and living creatures suffering from this spill and I can't wait until Jesus makes everything right
