Idea for Easter

So you know how a lot of us have been feeling the urgency about the lateness of the hour and getting the word out? I had this thought come to me, and at the urging of the Holy Spirit I talked to my pastor. I asked him how many people come to the Easter service compared to a normal Sunday. He thinks it’s almost double, at least in this church. We all know that the Easter and Christmas services get a lot more church attendance than your regular Sunday. Whether a family member drags them or they feel religious by going to the one service for the year, it doesn’t matter. The point is that there is a crowd of largely unchurched people who will go to church on Easter that we normally wouldn’t see. Assuming they live secular lives, this may possibly be the only exposure they have to the Word of God for the year. With this new audience in mind, I asked my pastor if he would include the Gospel and explain how to be saved in his Easter sermon. He normally has the mentality that the people who come regularly are already saved so I haven’t heard him explain it before. But I pointed out this new audience he would have and that this might be the ONE chance for these people to hear the Gospel and to be told how to be saved. He pondered it and agreed this was a good idea.

So then it occurred to me that several people probably see the same thing in their local church, so I’m (excitedly) urging everyone who can (has a local church) to ask (even beg) your pastor to do this at your church during the Easter service. Think about it this way, what if the rapture is VERY soon and this is the last big chance for a lot of people to hear a bona fide explanation of salvation before the rapture. I look at all these YouTube pastors and people with a huge audience and I always feel insignificant in my small corner of the world. But God spread us out and each of us has a sphere of influence, no matter how small, that none of the rest of us can reach so we’re all important. Imagine if every one of us got our pastors to explain the gospel and salvation on Easter and it collectively gives the message to thousands of people who wouldn’t have otherwise heard it. And if you have a pastor that won’t do this, show up on Easter with a stack of Gospel tracts and chase down the non-regulars. I’ve seen comments on this forum many times that if they knew who the last person is that needs to accept Jesus before the rapture they would chase them down. Here’s your chance! Easter brings an audience to us in church!

Taking it another step further, I know many of us are in other groups (facebook or otherwise), forums, etc. I plan on copying this same message to my other Christian groups and urge them to do the same thing. Feel free to copy and share this to your other groups and your sphere of influence. Imagine if this spread out to Christians all around the world and ended up with a surprising harvest. You never know, a lot of things are happening in the world right now with “revivals” and others coming to Jesus in unconventional ways. Please everyone, consider doing this!

These men should be thinking about this on their own. No harm in suggesting it, just in case, but in my church and another church in a large city with a family member who is pastor, the gospel is always presented at these opportune times with lots of visitors. Personally, I'd be worried if my pastor didn't think of it on his own. :hmmm

I agree! But sadly we know we are living in latter times and some churches are sliding. So I just wanted to suggest we make that effort where it might be lacking. Everything we can do to get Jesus to people, right?

At one of the churches I go to, Pastor and Vicar always present Law and Gospel during the service and it's in the bulletin :smile Pastor and/or Elder, Deacon, etc. talk to every visitor before service if at all possible. Both Pastor and Vicar talk to everyone as we leave the Sanctuary after service (slow process), with extra attention to visitors and anyone that needs it, so, as needed, The Gospel is presented again. If needed, after service, all the church leaders make time to talk to anyone one-on-one about The Gospel, etc.

At the other church I go to, all the Pastors always present Law and Gospel during the services, and again, all the church leaders make time to talk to anyone one-on-one, as needed, before and after. There are also missionaries, lay evangelists, and regular members that seek out visitors and talk to them. There's also all sorts of written material openly and freely available in the Narthex/huge open fellowship area and by and in the rest rooms

Exactly. As you said, no harm in suggesting it, but that should be a no-brainer for pastors.

It is a rare thing if my Pastor does NOT explain the Gospel in a sermon. But I realize many don't, so it may be a good idea to urge them to do it on Easter.

I love your enthusiasm and heart for reaching the lost. ♡♡♡
In my neck of the Bible belt, the Gospel is shared at every service, usually including funerals.
To me, the Easter service is THE way of telling what Jesus did for us. I do hope your pastor will start sharing the Gospel at every service...just because someone goes to church every Sunday, doesn't mean he is saved.

To me, the Gospel of how Jesus suffered and died, then AROSE, is everything!!! I love the story of His birth, but with His death and resurrection comes our salvation.
