WHAT mATTERS - I AM
If we have been Christians for any length of time, we have become accustomed to who Jesus is. From the time of our new birth, we have known Him as our Savior and Lord. As we grow in the knowledge of Him, different aspects of His relationship with us develop. He calls us friends[1] and so we are. Prisoners and bondslaves[2] of Him and so we are becoming. He is our advocate, our comforter, our intercessor, our redeemer, and our reconciler.[3] But sometimes, as intimate as He has become with us, I forget who He has been, who He is and who He will be for all eternity, the Word. When God spoke, it was the second member of the Godhead speaking. We are told in John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Followed by verse 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us. This same Word that was made flesh, we call Jesus, the unique and only, I AM. He told Moses that His name is I AM THAT I AM.[4] He is the Word, the Almighty Jehovah, the LORD God.
There are many in the world who invoke the name of God and even believe in God, believing He is the Almighty, yet there is no salvation in believing that. The demons also believe that and tremble.[5] Acts 4:10-12 declares Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead…is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Who is this man Jesus? Listen to Isaiah 45:22-23 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. These verses are indisputably speaking of Jehovah God and are then repeated in the book of Philippians 2:10-11 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
It can be no clearer who Jesus is, Lord God Almighty. What matters is, have you confessed Him to be so now, before it is too late to yield eternal life? As it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So, Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
