How is the weather in your area NOW??

It is currently 28C (82F) and rather humid so I imagine the real temperature is much higher than that. A beautiful day though and the shade did offer some relief but the shadier the spot the more there were mosquitos. There have been worse years but I hope the numbers go down soon. Our ditches are dry so they hopefully run out of larvae and eggs soon.

Our weather here in southern Californian just sucks! It's been cold, gloomy and miserable all thru April and most of May, when it is usually beautiful and warm this time of year. Can't sit out and enjoy our back patio, nor can we head down to the beach for some sunshine, cuz it's
cold and gloomy there, too. Bummer................ Normally, our beaches are known for their "June Gloom" days, so I have no clue when we will finally be able to enjoy a day there.

It's all so depressing and debilitating!!! No energy - no motivation - no nuthin'
All we'd like is some sunshine and temps at 80-plus............ is that too much to ask???
It's California, for Pete's sake!

91F, humid, and muggy . . . yicky :puke
Mostly clear with some pretty cumulus clouds that'll give someone else some rain.

No rain last night, but there's the usual super duper bumper crop of little vampires :eek  :eek2
Saw a couple of them carrying off Bigfoot earlier :apostasy :banning

Last year, Paul Bunyan and Babe (his blue ox) got carried off :lol

Very dry here, we have set an all time record for .17" of rain for month of May, that is the least amount of precip ever, we are now -5" below average precipitation, some local lakes are now 4' low. Some days our humidity is between 18-25% , great for working outside, we are usually a humidity rich environment.

Woo, boy. It's 21C (69F) in the middle of the night. That's warm. I spent a lot of my summer nights sleeping on the couch in the living room where the A/C unit is. My husband loves the heat and the humidity. I don't think it's too humid and I'm sitting between two room fans blowing right on me and the ceiling fan is going full tilt. I also have the bed to myself because he is working so no extra heat. I think I'll be OK. I'm a fall/spring type of girl and don't really enjoy the heat.

Thunderstorms are no longer in the forecast which is nice as my daughter's birthday party is this weekend. I never do anything fancy....just a barbecue and let the kids play together while I visit with the other moms but I would like the kids to be outside as much as possible. And then the grass grows too quickly and we'll have to mow our lawns multiple times the next few days in this heat. Our lawn is large but there are too many trees to use a riding mower.

Here comes the humidity. We've been given an official heat warning and the next few days the humidex will take us to almost 40C. It's evening and it's still about 25C (77F). Thunderstorms are back in the forecast due to the coming heat wave but is still listed at under 40%. Usually they do pop up after a day or two so I guess I should expect one. I can see clouds on the southern horizon which are coming closer but they seem to be breaking apart the closer they get.

Oooh! Just heard thunder and saw some lighting! Maybe the clouds aren't breaking up. Better review the generator manual so I know how to do it if I have to run outside in the middle of a downpour. It's pretty much set up. I just have to get it going. But I do not relish the idea of having to get it going in the middle of a thunderstorm. Our yard has lots of trees....o_O:candle:twister

Maybe some nice day your husband can help you practice starting, turning off, fueling, etc. the generator and you also write down the steps in a way you understand them as a kind of checklist. Then print it up neatly and either laminate or put it in a document protector, put in on the fridge so it doesn't get lost/safe place forgotten, and then it'll be easier and less stressful when you need to do it when he's not home. Probably also put a laminated/document protected copy with your emergency flashlight and spare batteries that you'd probably need to use when you go out to start the generator. If you have an emergency binder, a copy should go in there, too.

The same kind of thing can be done with the sump pump and anything else that's usually your husband's responsibility, but you might have to do if he's at work, in the hospital, etc. You could make a few checklists for your husband in case you're not home and he has to do something you normally take care of and put it in the emergency binder.

There were a lot of times I was home and my former husband wasn't, and vice versa, so we both needed to know how to do everything, even if something was usually done by the other person. Having a book with checklists, instructions, contacts, and copies of selected things with emergency flashlights, etc. good. Under great stress, even the simplest or most familiar tasks can get messed up. A checklist helps avoid problems and maximize safety :smile This is why pilots, etc. have detailed checklists to follow and complete before flying.

It is 88 feels like 90 we are already getting a pre-Summer. I am not a fan of hot weather. We have a 40% chance of rain day and night. I had just got back from Family Dollar for canned cat food and a bag of crunchy for Precious. It is raining we had a 50% chance day and night yesterday, and it did nothing.

It was at least in the high 80sF or into the 90sF. Very muggy. Yicky :puke
The clear sky just clouded over, but it doesn't feel, look, or smell like rain.

I think we got a couple of the predicted isolated thundershowers earlier, but very, very little rain [sigh]

My husband had given me the run-through for the generator but I was panicking and forgot everything! I have the manual on hand and knew what page it was on. Reading it reminded me of all the steps. But the storm I saw ending up passing us by (again) and then I guess another mild storm came by. I had slept through it but my daughter said it woke her up and that it "wasn't bad". She is TERRIFIED of storms so the fact she didn't think it was bad shows how mild it really was. No power outages.

Today was HOT!!!!! :hot:hot:hot So glad I mowed all the lawns yesterday!:mowing I hid in the house all day. I did go out and sweep the back patio a little at one point. Our yard is fairly protected and sweeping wasn't too strenuous but I fled indoors pretty quick. We haven't gotten rid of the winter's load of fallen leaves yet and I wanted to get a start before too many ticks make their home there.

It's the middle of the night but it is 22C and feels like 29C (84.2F)! Tomorrow is also supposed to feel like 40C (104F) with the humidity. We need to go to town for errands but thankfully, air conditioning is still allowed for us plebs.
