How I Came To Know Christ As Savior

I spoke for about an hour straight giving my testimony and it was whittled down to this 9 min segment. I had head knowledge of Jesus my whole life, but rejected His free gift of salvation. There's a difference between knowing about Jesus and knowing Him personally.

2 Corinthians 13:5 tells us - Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? Unless indeed you are disqualified.

Diligently seek Christ and you will find Him, and He will save you!

Jeff, that was the most beautiful thing I've heard in a while. I watched almost to the very end, and you and your Pastor are spot on. I am praying about sending this video to my unsaved family members, it's such a concise and full explanation of how to have real life. And a beautiful production to boot, very well thought out and edited. I pray your testimony will bear much fruit. That is so awesome about your sons, and the son who wants to become a Pastor. I pray God will mightily bless that effort.

I Love the Lord
I love how the Lord works out His plans for us in His own time and in His own way. You have a remarkable and sweet testimony of trusting and believing in the Lord to give you a new life in Him. What a marvelous work He began in you and from there the rest of your family! Thanks so much for sharing, Jeff.

Thanks for the kind comments, all.

Before I was saved, I would have told you that I was going to heaven. After I came to know the truth, I could not believe how blind I was. I serve in a kids program at church and when a child comes to accept Jesus as their Savior, there are always those who say, "I would have said they were already saved". That's why I say, never assume, keep presenting the gospel.

Diligently search the Scriptures, know that God loves you, and believe there is no sin that Jesus did not already pay for.

What would have been your basis for saying that, before?

I went to church as a youth, I believed in God, and overall, I was a pretty good preson. I thought that everyone who believes in God would go to heaven. I thought that once I had my fill and decided to quit my sins, all would be good. Never did I consider my sin a something that would keep me out, nor did I understand exactly what Jesus did for me on the cross. I didn't want to understand anything about Jesus, I was too consumed with my sin filled lifestyle. All the same time thinking I was going to heaven because I had basic knowledge of God.

I believe there is danger in telling someone they are saved without the Word of God bringing them to a place where they understand God will not allow any sin or sinner into heaven and they cry out to Jesus to save them.

Once I heard the full gospel, I searched the Bible, but I was looking for loop holes. Instead, I found Jesus - and He saved me.

This is outstanding, Jeff! Thank you for sharing not only your testimony, but also the fine truthful words of your pastor. What a godly man! So thankful to have heard this, and it will bless many people who come to Rapture Forums out of curiosity or people who are seeking with all their hearts to find Christ. You will find out one day when finally Home, just how many lives were touched by this. Thank you.

Looking Up
I never thought of how someone might look for "loop holes" so they wouldn't have to accept the Gospel of itself. (I found it to be a little bit amusing, knowing human nature and could see how someone would try to find a loop hole.) That was informative and useful to know when you're talking to people.

You have a great testimony, thank you for sharing!

Satan has so many people convinced that it's okay to follow the traditions and philosophies of man instead of the actual Word of God. Satan is a liar, and if people would open their eyes and diligently seek the truth in His Word, the truth will be found.

One of my favorite verses is Revelation 21:6 - And He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts".

If you "thirst" for the truth, search for it in God's Word and you will find there are no loop holes - by faith, you must come to believe and trust that Jesus Christ is the only way to eternal life.

I too was brought up in a family that attended church every week. I enjoyed Sunday School and believed that God was real. However, I never heard the gospel until I attended a preaching when I was in my 20s. Thinking back, I could not recall ever having heard the gospel at the 'church' my family attended!!!

I did but my church was so spiritually dead that it went straight over my head. Or in one ear and out the other. I needed the Holy Spirit to help me understand and He was busy in other churches where he was wanted.

Thank you for sharing Jeff, how so true far too many people are church goers, what the bible calls,"Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." I too went through the routine of following traditions of man, some godliness, but had no power in me,an empty vessel, a hypocrite or a 2-hour Sunday Christian. Most times by 5pm Sunday I would be back to my routine.
It takes God's conviction and a willing heart to turn from a Sunday only church goer to true Christian. Thanks once again Jeff
