I never heard of it growing up as RCC. Got saved in college...watched Thief in the Night, fascinated me! When Left Behind series came out, that set me on fire about it. Studied it in the Word...then had a passion for shows n articles, etc that link events on earth to Biblical Prophesy. Watched TBN, Hal Linsey humbly admitted he had set a date for the end n was wrong...I respected his humility and learned that Only the Father knows the day n hour!!! Wahoo!!!
Awesome Q!!!

seated with Christ

Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
I don't know about when for Rapture, but for the Millennium, a Jehovah Witness the idea of the lamb lying down with the lion or is that heaven.

My mother was back in the rear of the house doing chores when the door bell rung, I was not yet 12. She sat on the door eave (a step up from patio) and she began relating to me kingdom truth (JW lies) about animals not shedding blood anymore in Isiah.

I learn latter in life that my mother was listening in on her.

In eighth grade art class Sandra Staton was reading a book. Being a reader, I asked her what she was reading. 666 by Salem Kirban. She offered to let me borrow it when she was done. I read that book and it blew my mind. I have always believed there is a God, but I’m pretty sure I wasn’t saved at 10 or 11 although I always knew God was there. After reading, I prayed God, if these things ever really start happening, please let me understand the headlines. (newspaper headlines were a prominent device in the book) Boy was that prayer answered and still being answered!

i went on into teen years, went with my neighbors to Sunday school and church sometimes, but we mainly cut up and played around. Getting on the roof of the church during the sermon, we could hear the preacher up through the roof. Later in high school I went with my girlfriend to her MYF group sometimes. I *think* we may have had the thief in the night movie once, but I was headed deeper into the party world by then. After high school and four wild years in Florida, I lost my job and began thinking of coming home and going back to school, which I did, and met my future wife. i knew our marriage had to be grounded in God or I feared we would not last like my parents didn’t. So I wanted a church wedding. My DW was already saved, and the pastor insisted on 6 weeks of pre marriage counseling, and the first priority was to lead me to Christ which he did.

At that time his church, (which was an offshoot of the Free Will Baptist I had attended on the roof!), was meeting in the holiday inn ballroom. Past0r Will taught on the rapture. Every church I’ve been a part of has.

then when left behind came out, that really got me thinking and looking more into it. Pastor Will had given me his Ryrie Study Bible, and the theology section in the back has been invaluable.

All praise and honor and glory to the Lamb!

We think so much alike and have many parallel reactions and "awakening tools."

1974 Our small town 1st Baptist Church showed "A Thief in the Night" for Sunday Night Service and then couple that with hearing the song by Larry Norman "I wish we'd all been ready." It made a life long and eternal impact, I've been talking about Jesus coming back ever since. My mom was the Church Pianist and we'd sit in our home and sing Jesus is Coming Soon all the time.

Lyrics

Troublesome times are here, filling men's hearts with fear
Freedom we all hold dear now is at stake
Humbling your hearts to God saves from the chastening rod
Seek the way pilgrims trod, Christians awake
Jesus is coming soon, morning or night or noon
Many will meet their doom, trumpets will sound
All of the dead shall rise, righteous meet in the skies
Going where no one dies, heavenward bound
Troubles will soon be o'er, happy forevermore
When we meet on that shore, free from all care
Rising up in the sky, telling this world goodbye
Homeward we then shall fly, glory to share
Jesus is coming soon, morning or night or noon
Many will meet their doom, trumpets will sound
All of the dead shall rise, righteous meet in the skies
Going where no one dies, heavenward bound
Jesus is coming soon, morning or night or noon
Many will meet their doom, trumpets will sound
All of the dead shall rise, righteous meet in the skies
Going where no one dies, heavenward bound
Heavenward bound, heavenward bound

Now almost 50 years later WE ARE CLOSER NOW THAN WE HAVE EVER BEEN, I can almost hear the trumpet as Gabriel sounds the cry, Its the Midnight Cry and we will be going home!!

The Larry Norman song did me in, praise Yahweh forever. It echoed for weeks, as it should have. Positive proof that the enemy is TERRIFIED of music and media used for God's glory...and especially that which reminds him of his doom. This particular song has been used to bring many a prodigal...inside and outside...Home.

The second is "East Tennessee Student Pastorate" years all over again. I'd teach middle and elementary in Harrodsburg, KY and he'd learn at nearby (up windy 68) Asbury Seminary during the week. Then every Friday night, we'd head 2.5 hours. SE to Speedwell, TN and back up to KY again late Sunday night. We had summers with our two-charge flocks in Campbell/Claiborne Counties, too. Thank you for a much appreciated smile and precious lingering memory this morning!

I grew up in rural Georgia. I attended a Southern Baptist church. My mom and dad were believers, but they did not really go to church. They were super young. The church would send a bus around to pick up all the kids whose parents did not attend. My sister and I went every Sunday. I was saved there and when I was in the 8th grade, I was moved to "Big Church" - no more Sunday School. Not long after moving into Big Church, my pastor started a series on the End Times. He passed out typed sheets that he made for everyone outlining the Rapture and the End Times scenario according to scripture. I have been completely hooked since. I have always read everything I can in the Bible and in bible studies about the end times events. It has always been my greatest hope. I have prayed consistently since that time for the Rapture to happen. I cannot wait for the day that I go flying through the air to meet my Lord and Savior face to face. I have wanted to meet him my whole life. :)

I was unsaved, in the Marines, living in a big goat pasture while training in Greece in 2000. In between field training we had some down time, and someone gave me the Left Behind book. I have always liked end of world scenarios and natural disaster books, so I decided to read it. I could not put it down, and before this book, I had never heard of the rapture. The book scared me thinking this was a possibility, and I would like to say I was saved soon after. However, It was a few more years before I finally made the wise choice, and as soon as I did, I felt led to study Eschatology.

I grew up being taught about it. Honestly, I find it shocking that so many Christians don't believe in the concept at all -- whether pre or post Trib. It was just my normal. I had rapture dreams ever since I can remember. **I do not see anything prophetic in them....I was just dreaming them because I wanted to see Jesus**

First time I heard about it was in the early 70's - I was 28 or 29 - when Hal Lindsey came to speak at our church in Redding, CA.
I bought his book "Late Great Planet Earth" and read it and was astounded!! I couldn't see how we would possibly be here in 2000!
Sometime in the 90's I read the "Left Behind" books................ I was sure we were leaving for heaven with Y2K!
Shows how wrong one can be! Here we are in 2022, and I'm sure it will happen any day now.......... But, I don't think I'm wrong this time!!!!

A while back I saw an article about Heaven and an artist had drawn a representation of Heaven, hovering above the earth, in a prism/rainbow like image with shimmering colors. Does anyone recall that picture? Trying to find it again.
I am not finding a prism but I'm finding a shimmery rainbow depiction of the New Jerusalem hovering over earth. It's a kind of cool image. I'm assuming that's not it?

I probably heard it first from my dad. I don’t really remember. He did talk about the end times a good bit but I may not have understood what he was talking about at the time. I started hearing about Left Behind shortly after he passed away in 2001. I gave my life to Christ in 2003, and got ahold of the Left Behind series shortly afterwards. What I wouldn’t give for my dad to be here now so he could’ve mentored me and talk with me about the end times. I miss him and hope to see him again soon.
