The Russians have always viewed Ukraine as being part of Russia. It is the "bread basket" of Russia and provides food security. They have always suppressed Ukrainian independence (kind of like Washington vs. the idea of Texas secession).

Probably is just "bear-baiting" with the Russian military, which was doing war game stuff in the international waters near Hawaii. The globalists are anxious to draw Russia into the OWG and, so far, Putin has resisted. Saber-rattling with Putin is not a good idea. In truth it was probably meant as a distraction to divert attention away from China--which has clearly committed an act of war against not only the U.S. but the entire world with the release of SARS-Corona virus-2. There was some kind of weak-kneed speculation against China by the G-7 and NATO but it won't amount to any particular move against China because China was simply doing what the European globalists wanted, as a way of destroying American strength and independence.

It is the Dems who hate him for being a fly in the ointment of the New World Order. Putin claims to be a Christian and has his own "confessor" in the Russian Orthodox Church. The Russian people more-or-less adore him because he restored the lands that the Soviets took from the RO church and rebuilt many churches destroyed by them. Since it is now reported that about 90% of Russians identify as Russian Orthodox, it is easy to see why they support him. He claims that his mother (a firm Christian) baptized him as a young boy during the Soviet era. He also reportedly has a small group of Russian Orthodox confidantes around him--from his days as a KGB agent.

Politics aside, I like Putin's strong commitment to defending the 250,000 Eastern Orthodox Christians of Damascus. Apparently, that is why he defends the Assad regime (even though he privately detests Assad and calls him a "pig"). But, Assad has given Putin assurance that he will defend the Christians of Damascus. (All of this information on Putin was contained in an article from iirc Vanity Fair, a number of years back--probably before Hillary and her gang tried to make Russia/Putin into villains for the purpose of vilifying Trump. The Dems have gone MUCH softer on Russia than Trump ever did. But, the thieves and traitors in charge of Washington, as usual, talk out of both sides of their mouths.
