Sunday is Mother's Day. A day that is set aside to honor our Mothers. The day was put in the U.S calendar to commemorate mothers as a holiday. Here's an excerpt of the history of the holiday

On May 10, 1913, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution calling on all federal government officials (from the president down) to wear a white carnation the following day in observance of Mother's Day.[15] On May 8, 1914, the U.S. Congress passed a law designating the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day and requesting a proclamation. The next day, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation declaring the first national Mother's Day[16][17] as a day for American citizens to show the flag in honor of those mothers whose sons had died in war.[16] In 1934, U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt approved a stamp commemorating the holiday.[18]

In May 2008, the U.S. House of Representatives voted twice on a resolution commemorating Mother's Day,[19][20] the first one being passed without a dissenting vote (21 members not voting).[19] The Saint Andrews Methodist Church, where the first celebration was held, is now the International Mother's Day Shrine and is a National Historic Landmark.[21]

While the holiday observance of Mother's Day is a well deserved observation of our appreciation for Mother's, believers of the God of the Bible know that the observation for appreciation for our Mothers is a daily observance as commanded by our Father In Heaven. We love our Mothers from the day we are conceived and carry that love forever unconditionally.

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Exodus 20:12

"Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise--
Ephesians 6:2

Honor your father and mother; and You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 19:19

With this in mind let us strive to continue honoring our Mothers daily, and for those who bring the merit of dishonor unto themselves due to being ungodly, let's pray for them as the best way we can honor them that they will be drawn to the Lord and in Him can find the Motherhood given to them as a blessing as a valuable jewel to be treasured.

Happy Mother's Day to all of our RF Mothers and around the world.
