Everlasting Life
Through Faith in Jesus
And got into a conversation about things going on in our area which seemed to cause him dismay and sadness. As he was working, I felt quite pressed in the heart suddenly to go get a very specific kind of Gospel Tract I happen to have and to give it to him. It seemed that God was really tapping me on this particularly so I went ahead and grabbed a tract.
At the right time in conversation when giving him this tract, instead of the puzzled thank you that I usually get, he broke out in a big smile, profusely thanking me. He told me that this brought back great memories of his Dad. Upon inquiring, he said that his Dad used to pass these tracts around all the time and he loved reading them as a child. So, I shared a couple more different ones with him and he excitedly recognized those from his childhood. Later I was able to briefly tell him my testimony and how placing faith in Jesus had changed my life.
He kept thanking me and I could see that it really made his day....and that his Dad must have been quite a living testimony of Christ for him growing up (I surmised that his Dad must have passed). So, as an older man now, he's going to get to read these tracts, be reminded of his Dad who must have been a loving father just by the reactions he had in connection to these tracts. And, he's going to get the opportunity to put his faith in Christ. It warms my heart to think that God is calling him to repent and trust in Jesus for his salvation and as a result be able to see his Dad again.
I have no doubt that this was a divine moment from God, just the way this came about. And, I'm encouraged and praising God that He is still working!
And, his Dad obviously planted seeds in his young son's heart as this man was recalling, from faint memory, aspects of the Gospel as we were talking. So, you parents out there, be encouraged that even if you don't see responses from your own living testimony and planting of seeds during your lifetime, know that God is faithful to continue to get the Gospel in front of your children's eyes and that He will have his faithful ones in the right place, time and just right way to share His Gospel. And, your living testimony of following Christ and His loving ways will follow your children.
Please pray with me that this young man will respond to the Holy Spirit, repent (change his mind and heart in regards to sin) and places his faith in Jesus Christ.
