A MattR of Time

Behind Enemy Lines
The Bible clearly states that "Thou shalt not murder", not "Thou shalt not kill".

mur·der
1. Law. the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law. In the U.S., special statutory definitions include murder committed with malice aforethought, characterized by deliberation or premeditation or occurring during the commission of another serious crime, as robbery or arson (first-degree murder), and murder by intent but without deliberation or premeditation (second-degree murder).

I carry concealed daily, legally. God has given me a wonderful wife and two wonderful sons. I am their protector, and provider. So it is my duty to protect them from harm, and to protect myself from harm in order to keep my wife from being a widow, and my sons from being fatherless. This is a responsibility I gladly excepted when I said "I Do" in June 1992 before God, family, and friends.

Life is precious. I pray that I never have to take one, even if it is justifiable homicide. But if the ASSAILANT CHOOSES to cross that line, then so be it. It was THEIR decision. And if God deems that it is my time, then I will not be fast enough, or shoot straight enough....

Also, look at history. Look at the millions of people murdered at the hands of their own governments last century: Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Tung, etc..... Look at what is happening to Christians in the Sudan, Rwanda, etc... Do you know what they all have in common? They were all DISARMED prior to the genocide beginning.

Watch the movie "Tears of the Sun", and you will see what happens to unarmed Christians when the Muslims do have guns. It is NOT a pretty picture.

i'm glad that you have a concealed carry permit. my son just qualified, and is getting one, as well. i am thinking about it, myself. i want my wife to get one, so she can carry it concealed in her purse, and can be protcted while out shopping. everyone knows tht crime is on the way up, and the criminals nowdays will kill you for l0 bucks. they don't care, they have been so desensitized to the value of human life. keep praying for the rapture, for the Lord to come take us out of this mess.

Hello Gonzo, no need to feel guilty about the purchase of a gun. Owning a gun is one of our God given rights. We are to always trust in the Lord.

Nehemiah 4:18
For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so builded. And he that sounded the trumpet was by me.

1 Samuel 13:19
Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears:

Song of Solomon 3:8
They all hold swords, being expert in war: every man hath his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night.

Luke 22:36
Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

Luke 22:38
And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.

God created teachers and preachers. He made artists and farmers. He made decision makers and peace makers. He also created warriors. Many of the personality types feel uncomfortable defending themselves, much less others. These should refrain from trying be be what they are not.

From an early stage, I had a penchant to protect others from bullies. I never considered much about my own well being and usually sprang into action without thinking. Got heavily clobbered on several occasions, but ususally did well enough to gain the respect of the bully, who looked for me before acosting the weak from that point forward.

God also saw to it that I had all I needed to believe in Him and His wonderful salvation. Seeing Him work miracles in my life, I chose to believe He will use the warrior in me as it pleases Him. So far, I have not had to fatally harm anyone, and I have not chosen to carry a weapon.

It's been quite some time since I have been called on to stand up for anyone physically. It's probably a good thing since I have gotten older and less pliable. I do still stand up verbally for those being abused, and for the truth in general, and suppose I'd mix it up if I had to to assist someone being abused.

But if God ever convinces me I'll need a gun to carry out my work, I'd do it.

All this self defence and gun talk. I'm glad I live in Canada. ;)

In all honesty, it's a totally different culture here when it comes to that. When I was in university we were out at a McDonalds one night and one of the guys in the group is from Vermont. So we were sitting there eating, getting a little loud, just laughin, and a few guys walk over and ask us what's so funny. I'm pretty sure he was drunk but he was just a dumb Frenchman trying to be tough. So I looked at him and said, "Nothing man." He gave us a dirty look and walked away. We just laughed about it and probably made some comments about punks and the guy from Vermont was like, Guys he could have had a gun! We just laughed and said, Juddy this is Canada and we are in McDonalds, he did not have a gun!

Ryan,

It is well and good when your father who loves you is in charge of the house to give up all means of self protection. But should your mother take in a new husband who is abusive, you will begin looking for at least a baseball bat to counter the abuse.

Similarly, the Canadian government has decided gun ownership for protection is unnecessary and since it is somewhat altruistic, that works....for the time being.

But any country, ala Britian, that is being transformed day by day into a nation who wants to exercise Sharia law would make me quite anxious without protection beyond civil forces. Mighten it not you as well?

I have nothing against possessing weapons for self defence. It's possible to do here, just not as easy. The current government is working on that though.
I'm sorry if you had an abusive step father. I was just pointing out that the culture itself is different in that the thought of someone having a gun never crosses my mind during the space of a day.

Well here, there is a growing segement of society who is WOWed by rap music which champions the illegitimate use of guns. Add to that our entertainment industry who regularly shows everybody in grave danger and the sum is contrived fear.

Just wondering if anyone here is into collecting, shooting, or tinkering with guns. I hope this is ok to ask about.

Ill throw my 2 cents in. I have a small arsenal that I take to the range now and then. Last month went to the first gunshow ive been to in awhile. I was surprised how much things have gone up in price, even the nice old milsurps were hard to find. I would like to buy another makarov but those are scarce, so now im looking at a cz-52. Does anyone know if these are any good?

Any chat about the hobby is welcome, just curious who was here into such things.

I love shooting my firearms! Lord willin' I'll be at the range some time this week.

In reference to self defense...I have no problem with eliminating an imminent threat to me or my family by any means necessary.

Samuel Adams: The said constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms.

Cesare Beccaria:
False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that has no remedy for evils except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Can it be supposed that those who have the courage to violate the most sacred laws of humanity, the most important of the code, will respect the less important and arbitrary ones, which can be violated with ease and impunity, and which, if strictly obeyed, would put an end to personal liberty... and subject innocent persons to all the vexations that the guilty alone ought to suffer? Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. They ought to be designated as laws not preventive but fearful of crimes, produced by the tumultuous impression of a few isolated facts, and not by thoughtful consideration of the inconveniences and advantages of a universal decree.

Sarah Brady:
Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed
:soap

Bill Clinton:
There is no reason for anyone in this country -- anyone except a police officer or military person -- to buy, to own, to have, to use a handgun. The only way to control handgun use in this country is to prohibit the guns.
:apostasy

Bill Clinton:
The purpose of government is to rein in the rights of the people.

Paul Harvey:
They have gun control in Cuba. They have universal health care in Cuba. So why do they want to come here?

Is it legal to buy a gun over the internet?

You can purchase a gun over the internet, or through the mail. The key is, you have to have the firearm sent to someone with a valid FFL license.

I am happy to see this thread still up and running and all the points being discussed. Initially, all I had hoped for was some talk about the hobby and sport of shooting.

If anything, if Mr. Obama happens to become the next president, we should fight for our second ammendment rights. Goodness knows he will try to abolish that and make it unlawful for anyone to own a firearm.

The Second Amendment protects all the others. Remove the Second and all others can/will be taken.

I would like to apologize. no forgivness necessary.

I feel like a real fool and a jerk about posting this stupid message in this sight. First of all I shouldn't even have posted anything on this particular thread because it's for the guys. Secondly, what I posted was stupid and confusing probably to you, and that's because it was stupid and I don't know what I'm doing. I just feel the need to explain why I did it and to say I'm sorry. I didn't mean it toward RyanMac. I was reading the posts and I got upset about the Marylin Manson gun picture earlier, and the comments that were made. I thought I was responding to that user, not Ryanmac. Still it is no excuse. I have no right to accuse anyone of that, and I am terribly ashamed and sorry. I feel that I am getting paranoid, and I am overreacting to everything right now. I need to step back away from all of this stuff happening in the world and get back into God's Word, and stay in prayer and love. I don't ever want to hurt anyone or accuse anyone and I don't ever want to cause division among brothers and sisters who are in Christ. So again I am sorry for posting on this thread and for my extremely poor behavior! You won't hear from me again!
