God's Church is very much growing!

Everlasting Life

Through Faith in Jesus
I had the wonderful opportunity to visit a Chinese bible study at their invitation and hear some great testimonies! These women were truly lovely ladies of the Lord and I could see how their lives were changed by Christ. Several were from China and had initially immigrated to America with their families to secure jobs in the tech fields (there may be more Christians than is realized in these fields by the way). What I learned is that there is a very much an alive and growing Chinese church in America that reaches out to these immigrants in such a way that reflects Christ beautifully and draws them to Christ. These immigrants encounter such a different culture from what they came from, a culture of love, care, and true concern for them and their lives. A complete difference from a performance based and cultural pressures, void of truly filling the heart with contentment as Christ does. And a real difference from the harsh, fearful consequences of not meeting expectations in the environment that is found where they came from.

I was told how the Chinese are just famished spiritually, hungry to have true spiritual food where they have been so starved in China, with the government most certainly not filling that void (of course no government could except Jesus Christ's Kingdom government of righteousness, justice and peace).

What made such impact in these lady's lives was the gentle, purposeful kindness shown without a sense of expecting anything in return. This is huge in that the Chinese culture heavily engages in the expectation that acts of kindness and giving must be returned in the same manner if not more. It is considered bad manners not to do so. One can easily see where giving and doing kind things could be done in order to get something back rather than just for the pure motivation of love and concern for another person.

Thus, Chinese Christ followers exhibiting a pure motivation, Christlike motivation to care for these unsaved souls in practical, spiritual, and caring ways speaks volumes, drawing people to take a closer look at Christ. From listening to the women from various places, it sounds like the Chinese church in America has, well, exploded. And it sounds like, from what I was hearing, that God has faithfully raised up doctrinally sound teachers to shepherd these precious people. I could not help but to notice a consistent aspect of these ladies.......the Lord's joy. And when one comes from a place where that joy is so lacking, one has even greater joy at discovering Jesus Christ and his endless treasures.

It really got me thinking at how there is a great opportunity for the Church in America to still be a light to the nations, as the nations are now in our midst quite a bit more. There is great opportunity to, where evil may be intended, instead be a force for good as the Lord directs and as we seek His will.

This encounter has caused me to consider even more a question. How does the Lord want me to reach out, as He leads, to those who've found themselves in America? What practical ways can the Church reach out to these people to expose them to Jesus Christ?

I keep thinking how Jesus Christ, while we were His enemies, laid down His life for us in order to bring us salvation. I wonder how He would have me lay down my life, allowing Him to work through me, to bring the life saving Gospel to those He's drawing to Him. I think a good first step is to pray for the Lord's work in the communities that are forming, that He would raise up workers for the great harvest before us.

For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.

Blood bought child of the King of kings.
Ever since I was a child I always heard that
more and more are coming to Christ as Saviour in communist China.
As of now , it is estimated that 7.5 % of China's
total population of around 1.4 billion claim to be
Christians.
How accurate those numbers are, only God knows.
I do believe, however ,whatever the numbers may be , God is doing a mighty work over there and has for some time now.
May those numbers continue to rise.
May our Lord be glorified.

The harvest is plentiful amongst the world's largest ethnic group. These are just some practical ideas to consider. There are gospel tracts in Cantonese or Mandarin that you could buy in bulk and give out, leave at businesses, mail out etc. You can also give Chinese language Bibles as gifts for a family to share. There are bilingual Bibles which could be a good way for a new immigrant to learn English. For that matter if someone is learning English a regular English Bible would be great practice. You could also email links to free Chinese language Bibles online. I know Bible Gateway has many foreign languages including Chinese.

There are also many Chinese churches across the country and you can email people links to their websites, and the better sites have many excellent resources, especially bilingual audio and video sermons. Their sites almost always have an option for English or Chinese versions. They should also have a statement of faith and how to receive the gospel.

Here, it's getting harder and harder to find a job that doesn't have a foreign language requirement, or that doesn't give strong preference to bi and multi lingual people.

Learning another language(s) also has the effect of better equipping one to share The Gospel with immigrants, refugees, and migrants. The 10-40 Window has been brought here, so we need to be doing The Lord's work, for both Earthly and eternal reasons. God has also sent missionaries from other countries to bring US The Gospel and help with language and cultural issues when sharing The Gospel and setting up congregations needing another language :smile

We have many Hmong, who speak Chinese and Lao. Their congregations and churches are very strong because members and their families endured centuries of ethnic persecution, and more recently, religious persecution, before getting here. Many families and unaccompanied children came in the mid and late 70s as a result of the ending of the Viet Nam war, Cambodia falling to Khmer Rouge, etc. Churches sponsored and assisted, and Southeast Asian Cultural centers with bi and multi-lingual teachers and counselors established in a couple public schools.
