If you have stayed in a motel or hotel, the room more than likely had a Gideon Bible, sometimes on the nightstand but more than likely placed in the drawer. Idea: why not write a note giving the gospel message of salvation and putting it on the Bible and leaving it on top of the table where it can easily be seen? Even if the maid puts the Bible back in the drawer maybe he or she will read and believe the salvation message. You could also give your email or phone number if the person wants to contact you. This seems more dignified than leaving gospel tracts in bathroom stalls.

Back when I was younger and I was on the road a lot doing service work I used to do this a lot. Sometimes I would leave it open on a good verse and leave a nice tip for the maid.

When I was in the fifth grade the Gideon man gave us pocket New Testament's to everyone in my class, think that is against the law now.

I, as a non practicing Roman Catholic in my early 20s while on a TDY (temporary duty) with the Air Force at Kadena air base Okinawa, discovered a tract in a men's room that made me begin to question my Catholic upbringing and to start reading the Bible. That little pamphlet ignited a desire in me to discover the truth. I wouldn't disparage anyone's attempt to reach the lost, no matter the venue. Hell is a heck of a lot more indignant a place than a public rest room.

I've long appreciated the Gideon Bible ministry. I travel with my own, either hard copy or electronic, but in the past I've made good use of a Gideon bible on occasion.

I used to see them a lot in hotel rooms. I especially liked it when people would leave notes in the Bibles, like the Roman road to salvation - marking the path in the Word on those pages that lead to the road of salvation. I, on occasion, would also leave such notations. It was more encouraging to see a little “wear and tear” on those Bibles than a perfectly pristine book that showed no sign of it being opened or looked at.

I travel a lot on my job and the Marriott chain still allows the Bibles to be placed into their hotel rooms along with the Book of Mormon. The Marriott's are Mormon.

The following morning I headed down to breakfast and a couple of business men were seated next to me at breakfast. The first asks the other, 'how did you sleep'. The other said 'fine, but I woke really early and couldn't get back to sleep. I couldn't find anything on tv, I was so bored that I started reading the Bible in my room. I read all the way through till where they killed Jesus and he came back to life. It seems like a strange way to end the story'.

I was stunned, probably I shouldn't have been but it was a clear reminder that God answers prayer. I prayed again for the man, and have always since prayed that the hotel Bibles would be used.

One thing I like about leaving tracts whether in a motel room or restroom is that it gets the person away from all the debate and personal opinion stuff on these different online forums. The person does not feel pressured or cornered. The person can take some time alone to see what the Bible the Word of God actually says on how to become saved. I think the biggest thing is whether a person believes the Bible is the word of God and the final absolute authority on salvation, and I think it is the Holy Spirit that leads a person to believe the Scriptural gospel of salvation.

Precisely. I used to be a cargo pilot up until retiring almost 2 years ago now, and we did our flying primarily at night, early morning hours. I used to live on the back side of the clock - because of these late night, early morning trips - even on my days off to keep my sleep pattern the same, when I was doing contract flying and could keep the same schedule. It lessened the chance of not being able to sleep before a trip and so also lessened the chance of being sleep deprived while flying - never fun. So, even on days off, would go to bed about noon, get up at 8:00pm, then stay up all night to keep same sleep schedule. It made things easier for me.

While being up in the wee hours of the morning, when most of the inhabitants of a particular city were asleep, I would go out and distribute tracts and leave them where people would find them. I wanted to do my small part in getting the gospel out. And as you said, leaving tracts around is less invasive into a person's life and they can read them at their leisure, instead of having to deal with someone "in their face" and maybe not having everything sink in on the moment. It was also good exercise and saw a lot of back roads of different places. I'm hoping the Lord used some of those and that seeds were planted. I would pray for that anyway, not to have His Word returned void - I think that is the expression.

When I was a new Christian I picked up a pamphlet that mapped out the rapture and Tribulation. I still have that pamphlet and hopefully can thank whoever was distributing them when I get to heaven.

Without the blessing of that pamphlet it might have been a long time before I began learning about end times events since most churches tend to step around those topics.

I still can't remember how I happened upon Hal Lindsey's book. Maybe divine providence perhaps - I don't know - but it was a game changer for me. I had just started reading the Bible, but prophecy was a new revelation for me. I got sooo into the subject.

I know about those long haul flights because I am married to an airline pilot. I am taking his to the airport in a few minutes and he will commute from Melbournem Florida to Atlanta, then fly to Seoul, South Korea all night long. He is leaving today and back on Monday evening so the jet lag takes a toll on him.

Now that I think about it the last time I was in Salt Lake City where I was staying at , the hotel had a copy of each.
Mormon cult is pretty wacky .
