Forum “Likes”

Before I joined this forum many years ago, I was a regular poster on the old Rapture Ready Forum. On that forum, there were no “likes” to click on, so when I joined this forum, I did not pay attention nor use the like button. Soon after joining this forum, a few long time members private messaged me, (yes, at one time we did have that capability) and explained how likes work. I understood, and now the reason I use likes is if I read a comment, and agree, then I like it. That way, when others read, they know who agrees, or disagrees with comments.

Over the last 1-2 years, I have noted more members than not dont ever, or rarely hit the like button. IMO, utilizing the like button aides the thread.

No, Im not asking for more likes for me, I already have too many.

Its just my opinion, but I truly believe the like button enhances the conversation.

Thoughts?
I don't mind likes or giving them.

I would prefer direct communications though.

And the other reason I post a lot of likes is to try and keep up with TT's number of reactions on the main page. :p

I like (or one of the other choices) 95% of every post I read. I guess I'm mostly saying, "hey, I value your participation on the board." When I don't acknowledge a post it's usually because there's something in it that gives me pause. Even then, if it's a new member I might still like it as an encouragement.

Sometimes, I like something and forget to double-check that the like actually registered. Sometimes I click and it doesn't work

Sometimes I'll have the same page up twice or on 2 different devices. I'll like the posts in a thread then a bit later I'm looking at the same thread and clicking on the likes again... which is turning off the previous like. Fast forward a day or two and I see that thread again and I'm thinking "I thought I liked all these posts"... so I like them again. Sometimes the 3rd times the charm...

I like both, and as possible, reasonable, constructive to the conversation, not beating a dead horse, etc., I try to give both :smile

Like @Tall Timbers I like of some sort the vast majority of posts I read, unless there's some specific reason not to. Given the censoring and monitoring that's going on via the ISP, there are some posts and whole threads I may read, but don't react or reply to. Some threads I don't even open at all for this same reason.

Agree, same with the thumbs down or eye roll. If I use them it's for content, not the poster. So I hesitate sometimes. And sometimes when I see an eyeroll on something I posted, I worry on why it drew that reaction.
I agree, if I use the eyeroll or thumbs down, etc. it's because of the content - not the poster. Honestly, SO many crazy things going on in our country (and the world) deserve the  , and :thumbdown
