Foreign nationals can now police American citizens as California Democrats' law goes into effect

Gov. Gavin Newsom ratified fellow Democrat state Sen. Nancy Skinner's bill SB-960 on Sept. 29, 2022, thereby scrapping the requirement that police, highway patrol, and corrections officers have to be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

This law went into effect on Jan. 1, meaning foreign nationals can now police American citizens.

(Legal) foreign badges

It was noted in a March 18, 2022, hearing of the California Senate Committee on Public Safety, chaired by Democratic Sen. Steven Bradford, that "among the categories of work-authorized non-citizens that would likely be eligible are permanent workers (immigrant visa based on employment), asylees and refugees, and individuals are protected under the Program of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)."

Were this the case, certain illegal aliens criminally trespassing in the United States could become police officers.

However, state Sen. Skinner's spokesman, Robert Gammon, told Reuters that "SB 960 only allows noncitizens with full federal legal work authorization to become police officers in California."

Per Gammon's suggestion, the law expressly states that foreign nationals applying for American police jobs in California must be "legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law."

This is an obstacle Democrats in Washington appear keen to inadvertently surmount or circumnavigate, having recently sought to change federal law to enable criminal noncitizens to receive federal legal work authorizations.

In late 2021, Democrats added a provision to President Joe Biden's social safety net and climate package to open a path to legal work for the roughly 7 million illegal aliens living in the U.S. The provision passed in the House version of the spending package, valued at roughly $2.2 trillion.

A transmogrified form of the bill, the so-called "Inflation Reduction Act of 2022," ultimately passed the Senate. However, the illegal alien work permit provision had been discarded.

Even without this provision, the Biden administration has nevertheless managed to dole out temporary work permits (i.e., federal work authorizations) to illegal aliens, reported the New York Times.

Potential downsides

While not all criminal noncitizens may presently be able to exploit California Democrats' new foreign police law, the Western Journal noted two other glaring issues: First, it "will take away jobs from American citizens and give them to non-citizens. ... This will only leave more working-class Americans without jobs and opportunities."

Second, "Many non-citizens have not grown up here and, therefore, do not completely understand the Constitution, how the judicial system works or how the American government works."

Even if cultural immersion and assimilation does not present as a factor, some are concerned that this law is tantamount to a drop in police recruitment standards.

Sgt. Jared Wilson, speaking as president and on behalf of the San Diego Police Officer's Association told KFMB, "The San Diego Police Department has lost over 500 officers since July of 2020. That's drastic. We need everyone we can to be able to be a police officer. However, we are not in favor of reducing the requirements and lowering the standards."

Wilson added, "I think there's a handful of people who have been in this country a long time we'll be able to hire as a result of this, and hopefully they become citizens, but lowering standards is not the right answer to fill in our ranks."

When SB-960 was first introduced, Fox News contributor Leo Terrell said it would ultimately "devalue citizenship."

The admission of foreign nationals to positions within law enforcement might also aid hostile foreign powers with their infiltration efforts in the U.S..

TheBlaze previously reported on the revelations last year that clandestine police operations are being conducted by agents of the Chinese communist regime in the United States and in allied nations. One illegal Chinese police station was found to be running in Los Angeles, another in New York City.

Safeguard Defenders, a European, pan-Asian human rights NGO, indicated that these police stations, while purportedly created to combat fraud, are a means to extend the genocidal communist regime's influence and powers of "transnational repression."

While prospective police must satisfy several other legal criteria, such as evidencing good moral character, with the help of hostile foreign powers based in Beijing or elsewhere, such evidence can be easily manufactured. No longer would foreign police actions on American soil have to be coordinated in plain clothes.

I can fully see this leading to Sharia Law.

Choose Your Words Carefully...
No doubt Wagner Group is already planning how to get these choice positions staffed.

By God's grace we have some very capable and stalwart sheriffs out there, who as elected officials, have a higher constitutional authority that the rent-a cops you find in some places.
