Dr. Phil gives sound Biblical counseling on reducing stress.

seated with Christ

Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
“The best stress-relieving book is, you guessed it, the BIBLE. It teaches you to be more mindful of God's promises and how to let go of negative thoughts.” Says Dr. Phil

He advises to “meditate on the love of God and invite God into your peaceful place.”

Dr. Phil who usually deals with Phycological help offered some scripture “that can help in stressful times.”

That's a bit left field and unexpected advice from someone like Dr Phil

Now we see through a glass, darkly; (1 Cor 13:12)
I like Dr. Phil. I occasionally watch his show, and I think he always provides a very accurate assessment of the situation, as well as a solid game plan for moving forward.

I know that some Christians reject psychology, and I understand why. But I think that to reject psychology entirely is really throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Yes, the Word of God is our foundation for life. But I also believe that God gave mankind the ability to understand how the mind works, and how to diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders. Just as a medical doctor diagnoses and treats the body.

I thought it was that groundhog Puxtawney Phil.

The Bible. Now there is some down to earth advice.

It reminds me of Dale Carnegie's perfect way to deal with stress: Prayer.

Stress and worry is not a disease its a choice. Worry and Stress is always self centered. Dr Phil has millions and millions of followers that tells me one thing, he is talking through the wisdom of this world.

"1Co 1:20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
Col 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

We know "Joh 7:7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

Gal 1:4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: 1 John 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness..

I believe his motive also is the LOVE OF MONEY "1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

I used to like and watch him until I realized that he’s just peddling treatment of the mind - Phycology, which treats the symptoms and not the cause.
I’ve struggled with mental illness my entire life and resisted medical and physiological help because religious people always pushed that. Physical chemical issues sometimes require physical medical help. God can heal us and don’t get me wrong… He is the only reason I made it but some people especially people like me who were raised in terrible violent situations need more than the spiritual answer.

Mental issues are very serious and complex. Years of creation, years of therapy, meds may be needed,
and yet an unloving near-do-well can really mess up progress.

But the greatest power, love+understanding+compassion, applied by the Spirit directly or through a Spirit led life does incredible things.

Praying for so many especially during this season where the cheer is so mixed with stress it is harmful.

Perhaps regular humble appreciation the Greatest Gift given to men will help all of us.

Thank you Lord for sending Your Son that we can have peace within which will then flow out of us.

Praying for you too yrrek.
