I believe that Scripture is clear on that believers (true born again Christians) have two natures and that we can still sin AND that Satan can tempt us to sin as well. And, only true born again Christians have the Holy Spirit and through the power of the Holy Spirit we can submit to God and resist him.
Sanctification is a process and faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. We see throughout Scripture how faithful men and woman of God fall into sin, non is perfect! We see the growth (sanctification) in them and we also see who do not repent and turn to Christ and who are not truly saved. But, as I've studied God's Word and listened to good teaching, such as with Dr. Andy Woods I've still got some confusion in the area of deception/apostasy.
As far as apostasy goes, I believe that only true born again Christians can apostatize? This is what Dr. Andy Woods teaches if I am understanding him correctly. I'm interested in hearing what other have to say in light of Scripture about Apostasy?
Yet, what about someone who is being drawn and is hearing truth but hasn't repented and come to Christ? We are not able to truly know if someone is a true born again Christian and it is getting harder and harder I believe due to apostasy and departing from the faith and with the false teaching and false teachers. Which is also something I also question in light of Scripture. These teachers who are not teaching sound biblical doctrine, who are watering down the gospel and using man's ways to grow a church, such as the purpose driven life and the new age and all the others, can these teachers be true born again Christians who are deceived?
So, can true born again Christians be deceived? Only for a little while, if they are truly born again? (Matt. 24: 24) (Mark 13: 22)
Scripture tells us that some will want their ears tickled. (2 Tim. 4: 3) and (2 Tim. 3) Perilous times will come.... Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Is it unbelievers who will want their ears tickled or believers and unbelievers?
And, in 2 Tim. 3 are these unbelievers or believers or can it be both?
