Days of Lot vs today

That’s funny but true. I agree. As bad as things are they could be A LOT worse morally; legal and celebrated child rape, public sex of every kind and species, public torture for entertainment (like gladiators), etc. Maybe it’ll get that bad pre rapture or maybe that’s for the trib.
I don't things could get much worse. Intentionally trying to indoctrinate children to sexual perversions of every kind. This is almost as low as can get in my estimation.

Read Judges 19, an even more bizarre account of a similar Lot experience. Only this guy - the Levite - ends up dismembering his dead concubine's body into 12 pieces and sends them off to 12 different locales throughout Israel. ????

I actually DO remember that one, just forgot which part of the Bible it was in. It also traumatized me. A lot of the Bible, especially the Old Testament would legit make good fodder for horror movies.

I think that there is a LOT going on under the surface that we don't even know exists, and if we saw these things we would be horrified beyond belief. The child sex slavery in Thailand and other places. The things going on in the "dark web." Perverse acts being carried out on video chat. And children born, tortured and killed for the purpose of satanic worship and/or perversion who live out their entire short lives never even seeing the light of day.

I agree with the member above. We're beyond Sodom & G now.

A school board director in Washington State has organized a sex symposium for nine year olds. The agenda is so inappropriate I’m not going to list one item. But it is significant to note that to get to the symposium the attendees will have to walk past Wink Wink - a sex shop open to all ages OWNED BY the school board director.
I googled this too, and per Fox News the classes will be held AT her sex shop :mad2 unbelievable that she can get away with this. If not for the immorality, how about the conflict of interest at least, as its her shop? (Ridiculous that I'm even saying this!!!)
If I lived there I would organize a protest on the street in front of her shop, STAT. :mad2

I know the Bible says in Revelation that the Tribulation will be the worst time that has ever been or ever will be, but seeing what we are seeing now? My goodness, I can’t even wrap my head around how bad it’s truly going to get. I praise your Holy name Lord Jesus, so grateful we will not experience it.

We still may have a little more to go... Can't remember last time I had the guys over and the neighbors banged down the door wanting to have sex with them. Then a reasonable response would have been to offer my own daughter up. Seems like we aren't there yet. Getting closer though.
Lol I was just thinking the same. I don't see hordes of men in a town or city going around to demand they rape new visitors. Thank God that's not a thing. I wonder if such a thing happens in some Middle Eastern area. They seem to justify pedophilia and rape.

The response could be in a different form though. If anyone says anything against the lgbt… you are torn apart. They may not be trying to rape your guests but being called homophonic/transphobic if you don’t agree and having them destroy your life is pretty close in my book. Some people lose their jobs and get their reputation destroyed over that stuff. The hate is there.

The people who lost everything because they wouldn’t make a cake for a gay wedding is an example. Instead of going to a different cake place they destroyed the life of a 70 year old woman.
I would still rather lose my business than get ganged raped by a city full of men. That's just me though.

Men trying to get pregnant, men marrying men, women marrying women, homosexual pastors, abortion and the uproar of the SCOTUS ruling on Roe v Wade (long overdue), sexual immorality, opposition to anything Christian, violence, our own government trying to make our nation fall into famine, recession, the green deal, ANTIFA, BLM, division of the masses by politicians who worship Satan and can’t get enough power or money, the lefts‘ absolute abandonment of any good thing or any common sense, their push for a one world government, open borders, population control, outright godlessness, the falling away of the Church, I know there’s a lot more ……..

After reading your list (Bethlehem57) of all the depravity around us it kind of hit me that perhaps we don't really realize how close we are because it starts out slow and then rapidly accelerates and our minds can't grasp it all. We hear about it, read about it, watch it on TV, but we really don't experience it first hand. It's almost like it's happening in some other place, but not in my neighborhood. Lot didn't have social media, TV or the Internet so he saw it up close and personal.

It's like that story about putting a frog in a pot of water and then slowly turning up the heat. The frog doesn't realize he's boiling until it's too late. This wickedness in our country has been going on for a long time, but now we are seeing the fruits of what was sown and the water is still boiling!

I think we’re beyond Lot, too. Because we have technology now which can be used to create and promote, far and wide, all kinds of sexual wickedness. Technology has always been a double edged sword which could be used for both good or evil.

"Of all the stuff I read, I always hated and despised Lot the very most for his action of offering up his own daughters to be gang raped, likely to death...really think about the horror of that. The terror, the absolute betrayal of daughters he is supposed to love and protect in the name of some stupid, patriarchal "Guest Right" custom that would fit very nicely into an episode of Game of Thrones."

I used to serve as a leader in a youth group program w/ middle school girls and this scripture came up and the girls were asking why God would allow that. I said I see it as that idea to give his daughters sexually away to these evil men did not come from God. God was not telling Lot to do that. Lot compromised to the immorality around him. I find it odd the Bible doesn’t more clearly say that God was not pleased that Lot said that, it’s hard for young girls to read that as sounding okay for a man of God to say/offer.

We could probably liken it to God showings Ezekiel a vision of what the priests in Israel were *really* indulging in behind the scenes. :sad

I think we should remember though
Lot was the only godly man in Sodom.
Not much of a salty restraint for that area. The world today has many Christians that they Holy Sprit is working though to restrain certain depths of evil in broad daylight.

Not sure if my question was clear. How can we measure our time here in 2022 to Lot and Noah's time?
Dr. Andy Woods has some excellent teachings about Genesis. I think it is around episode 30, he begins teaching on Noah and the flood. It may help answer your questions.

A different perspective on what could have been the motivation for Lots actions.

Question: Can you help me understand why Lot and his daughters were considered righteous? First, he offers his daughters as potential rape victims to the Sodomites, then later on his daughters seduce their own father.
Answer:I believe the Bible only describes Lot as being righteous (2 peter 2:7) not his daughters. That said, the customs of the day required that having invited the two angels into his house, he and his family became responsible for their safety, and were bound to protect them (Genesis 19:8). As outrageous as this sounds to us, offering his daughters to the men would have been preferable to putting the lives of his guests at risk. Also the fact that Lot was so insistent that they spend the night at his house and went to such extremes to protect them may indicate that he had some idea of who they really were. And Genesis 19:33,35 indicates that Lot was drunk and didn’t realize what his daughters had done when they tricked him into impregnating them.

But irrespective of these things Lot was like the rest of us. His righteousness was imputed to him by faith. Otherwise, the Lord would not have been obligated to save him based on His prior discussion with Abraham, who had only asked for mercy on behalf of the righteous.

No offense but there are hordes of men in America having sex with child prostitutes daily. They don’t have to knock a door down. They just pay. Biden is allowing them to cross into America daily escorted by their caretakers. States with highest such crime rates: California, Delaware, Texas. That’s the technology bump I was referring to: on-line pornography, international communications, etc. Thousands of these crimes yearly - (FBI stats include Canada).
Many children have been found raped to death along the trafficking routes to the country with the highest demand: the United States.
I am aware that this is happening underground. Yet that is the key difference. This is not happening out in the open where the majority of people are encouraging this or demanding this as acceptable as in the story of Lot. Very different environments.

As an unsaved young person, probably around 12 yrs old, ( being dragged to church, like cargo), while I very much disliked Church (full of hypocrites, right?) I was still interested in the Bible and I DID read it as I sat in the pews, (pointedly NOT singing) it was crazy stuff, kind of like Lord of the Rings to me back then.

Of all the stuff I read, I always hated and despised Lot the very most for his action of offering up his own daughters to be gang raped, likely to death...really think about the horror of that. The terror, the absolute betrayal of daughters he is supposed to love and protect in the name of some stupid, patriarchal "Guest Right" custom that would fit very nicely into an episode of Game of Thrones.

It's sections of the Bible like this that are EASILY used by those who hate us to paint Bible believers as reprobate, patriarchal abusers.

Now, having been saved (MUCH later in life) and learning to trust God in all things I can see that part of the intent was to show how, even Lot, who, with his family alone was deemed worthy to save out of the whole city had succumbed in a fashion to the horrible culture he tried to live in, his character was poisoned or he never would have thought this was a good plan. They were alao NOT Christ followers as this was the Old Testament.

As to the original question about how we could, as a culture get MORE evil, I would say the gradual acceptance of pedos ( (rebranded as MAPS: for "Minor attracted persons") and the embrace of the elite of transhumanism which sounds like sci fi but is (in my opinion) utterly demonic.
I still struggle mightily to understand how Lot was considered righteous by God, when he offered up his daughters to be gang raped.
