Could “Rapture” mean physical death ?

I’m a little embarrassed to ask this, but is there any possibility that our rapture could be in spirit only, leaving our earthly bodies behind? I can imagine the narrative of how suddenly “x” percent of the global population dropped dead easier to become disillusioned about then our vanishing from “alien abduction”.

Please don't be embarrassed for asking, because this is a question that deserves an honest answer.

Christians earthly bodies have been left behind on Earth for nearly two thousand years now. Their souls are in Heaven until the Rapture.

There are plans in place to explain away the Rapture when it happens. A well known New Age author claims that when as many as 20 million people suddenly vanish, it is to bring harmony to the Earth and give humanity a tremendous elevation of consciousness.
That is a repackaging of the lie told to Eve in Genesis 3:1-7.

Satan has several plans in place to deceive and explain away the Rapture.
The above mentioned.
Alien Abduction. No accident that UFO are showing up more often for decades now.
Disbelief that the Rapture will be real.
