George likes the idea of hot dogs (we call them tube steaks) for dinner, so that would be dinner plus a veggie side for us both, bread for him.

Tall Timbers does finding that nice market with your favourite goodies, mean that you've found a neighborhood you like?

It's always nice when we moved in the past for G's work, and I'd find some happy places nearby that fit our needs. Kinda hoping that the Lord will show you just the right spot.
Both my wife and I get a little giddy inside Mexican grocery stores. She loves the sweetbreads. The biggest downside of the Vegas area, not counting the casinos, is the population, which is a bit much for me. Other than that I like it here. I think I could live on the outskirts in the directions of west or northwest from North Las Vegas, but home prices may be out of my price range for what I'd want. Fleeing Californians have had a big impact on property values in the Reno and Vegas areas. I've got four more states to visit, but I could live here.

Tonight I'm having a couple of Golden Arches quarter pounders for dinner.

My daughter and grandson both live in northwest Las Vegas - for several years now - and they both love it there.
The nice thing is that there is easy access regarding flights to almost anywhere in the U.S. And, it's only about a five hour drive to L.A. or San Diego, etc. It makes a nice hub is what I am saying. That said, I don't think I'd like living there full-time ........... I have my complaints about living in California, but I really can't come up with anyplace else I would really like to move. We're so spoiled with the nice weather and the proximity to lots of things to enjoy...........beaches, mountains, deserts, etc. all within an hour or two from home. But, the taxes are killing us, and are expected to get worse.

@Tall Timbers, I was just telling George about your search and he told me to mention Henderson Nevada which is about 20 minutes south of the airport near Las Vegas on the way to Hoover Dam.

George's friend Bill lives there, and he said Bill told him the housing in Henderson is really reasonable cost wise. Bill and his wife moved there last year from Washington State. It's on the outskirts of Las Vegas.

Ahhh, Patsy and my favorite... just like you ... love our burgers.. wish you well as you continue your search for a new place to dwell in the future... fun listening to your finds of good food places as you explore different areas. Please continue telling us about your journey, as you go. hugs

Tonight it is baked piece of ham with maple syrup and latkes... (potato pancakes) and Greek salad I picked up yesterday. I never like how they make the dressing so I always adlib and make some of my own vinaigrette to go over the veggies.

Henderson is a nice area but the Strip is between Henderson and Nellis AFB. We'd be getting healthcare services at Nellis and I'd just as soon never have to drive through Vegas proper... so Henderson isn't for me. Over the last several years I was in both North Las Vegas and Henderson for youth soccer tournaments. That's how I got familiar with Henderson and North Las Vegas too. Our hotels were often just a block or so from the Strip and I really don't care for that area and just as soon stay as far away as I could if I lived around here. There doesn't seem to be anything to the east of Nellis yet except for a race track/speedway. I imagine that area will eventually see housing tracts go in.

I love Henderson. That's where my parents lived and I visited every year. They were in a retirement neighborhood where you have to be over 50 to live. It's so quiet! Sad they had to leave (dementia) and now they are with my sister in San Diego. Really gonna miss that place.

One of my favourite movies (Independence Day) featured Nellis AFB, but I suspect they filmed on some other spot as they often do. Like Bernice said, keep us posted, we are rooting for you and praying for the perfect place in God's perfect time. But maybe that is zipping up in the Rapture. That would be the best of all.

Well it's a clean out the fridge night tonight in our apartment. G is eyeing the last of the hot dogs (I find a maximum of 2 enjoyable about every 6 months or so but he loves them) and I have a tin of Spam in mind(equally full of nitrites and other tasty chemicals) :lol

Some broccoli will surely offset any evilness in the Spam or the Hot Dogs.

I just got back from driving around Henderson. At the end of the day, I guess anyplace in any direction that is far enough away from the Strip would be okay. I plan to stay put until my youngest finishes college in 2 1/2 years. I'll also be investigating locations in Wyoming, South Dakota, Kentucky, and Georgia... and if all of those come up short, I'll toss out a wider net. I might need to start a thread on the relocation topic to keep this thread a bit more "pure".

For lunch I stopped at a place I'd never heard of until today, "Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steak Burgers". It was located in Henderson. I had a double patty burger. It was pretty good. Their fries were real thin, they might be called shoestring.

We made our Costco run yesterday, and had a cheese and cracker supper last night before our first bible study class.
Tonight we'll have some chicken breasts off of our Costco rotisseried chicken, along with some roasted sweet potatos, and
maybe some green beans or peas.

Gonna eat the last 2 of my latkes, usually make 3 from one med potato, but this time the potato was a little bigger so I got 2 meals out of one potato. Then finish off my Greek Salad and maybe bake some of my butterfly prawns... and have them with Thai sweet chili sauce, then a glass of orange juice should finish everything off.
Nice here today, everything melting a bit, so Patsy and I went and got her license for the year and I did more running around for other stuff I needed.

I grilled up some NY steaks for us tonight. I dont enjoy steak as often as I did years ago, but occasionally they hit the spot. We only had a small simple salad as a side. My wife is counting her points for losing weight, so we skipped any potatoes or bread. Shhhhh, dont tell her, but I will sneak in a few more calories when she is upstairs sewing.
