US President Joe Biden stated on Monday that "there will no longer be Nord Stream 2," a crucial Russia-to-Germany natural gas pipeline, if Russia further invades Ukraine with "tanks and troops", reported The Associated Press. Speaking during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Biden said that the US and Germany were "working in lockstep to further deter Russian aggression in Europe."

Scholz added, "We are closest allies and we are working intensely together, and this is necessary for doing the steps that we have to do, for instance, fighting against Russian aggression against Ukraine." Before meeting Biden, Scholz told German media that "there will be a very high price if Ukraine is attacked militarily. And we are preparing for this very precisely and have been talking about the details for a long time." The comments come amid continued tensions between Russia and Ukraine, after 100,000 Russian troops were amassed near Ukraine, fueling Western worries of a possible offensive. On Sunday, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that Russia could invade Ukraine "any day," launching a conflict that would come at an "enormous human cost."

Nord Stream 2 competition is the EastMed Pipeline that Biden recently pulled support from. The East Med pipeline would have / will send gas from Eastern Mediterranean Sea (near Israel) to Greece via Crete and Cyprus, then on to the rest of Europe. Putin has tasked Turkey with interrupting the build and they have abliged.

I can't help but think that the gas resources of Israel's territory is key to hooking the jaw...

In my imagination I can see God causing an earthquake in Russia causing them to lose their gas resources, thus hooking their jaw to go out and claim other (Israel's) resources by force to ensure their continued grip on power / $$$. Or EastMed support grows, building continues and threatens Putins control over EU and he acts ? Too many scenaos but these stand out to me.

I guess Biden does not know that the Nord 2 Pipeline was completed in Sep 2021 - A lot of people do not realize that there is already Nord 1 pipeline that has been running for years since 2011and Nord 2 is running along side the Nord 1 pipeline basically doubling the flow of natural gas. Nord Stream 1 has a total annual capacity of 55 billion m3 (1.9 trillion cu ft) of gas. When Nord 2 get certified the total output for both pipeline will be around 110 billion m3
