    Hello everyone,

    I love to be on this forum, to read, learn, and to post, but I have a question:
    Do you have a list of the abbreviations you use on the board?

    Some of them, I can understand, or figure out through the context, but a lot of them just escape me.

    English isn’t my native tongue, and I learned it some 30, 40 years ago, so some of the modern “jargon” is a bit alien to me.

    Please help?

    We'd all be happy to help. There's no list of abbreviations that I know of, so just type what abbreviation
    you'd like to know the meaning of, and someone will answer shortly.

    Here's a few I can think of off the top of my head

    MoB = Mark of the Beast

    AoD = Abomination of Desolation

    YSIS =your sister in Christ or YBIC = your brother in Christ

    AC = antichrist

    Mil = mother-in-law, Sil = sister-in-law, Bil = brother-in-law, Dil = daughter-in-law. Sil = son-in-law

    Dh = dearest husband, Dw = dearest wife, Dd= dearest daughter, Ds = dearest son

    a few more general ones:

    imo = in my opinion. If feeling humble, imho.

    otoh = on the other hand

    btw = by the way

    op = original post

    The original post raises a good point though -- not everyone is coming from the same reference point and maybe it would be best to do a little extra typing and try to avoid the abbreviations for both understanding and clarity?

    Hi Erika,
    I am not aware of a list. Just ask as they come up. I have had to ask for explanations for some of the British and Canadian phrases or words and everyone is happy to explain jargon. Anyone would be happy to help I am sure.

    IHOP can either be a yummy breakfast food restuarant or a group that many people on the board have spoken out against, depending on whether it is the international house of pancakes or prayer
