America’s Suicidal Trajectory (Part 3 of 3)
By Dr. David Reagan

In the first part, we looked at how judicial misrulings and church apostasy have guided America’s suicidal trajectory. Now we will end by examining America’s current position and see if there is any hope for our nation.

America’s Current Position

I believe our nation has reached the point of no return. We have the blood of 64 million aborted babies on our hands. We are polluting the world with our violent, immoral and blasphemous television programs and movies. We have become obsessed with sex, and we are hooked on drugs.

“The highest glory of the American Revolution was this: it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity.” – John Quincy Adams (1767- 1848), member of Congress and sixth United States President

To illustrate how bad the situation is, let me share with you the story of a prayer. The story began in 1995 when a great prayer was written by Bob Russell. At the time he served as pastor of Southeast Christian Church, one of our nation’s largest churches. The prayer was written in response to an invitation to pray at a breakfast hosted by the Governor of Kentucky.

A year later on January 23, 1996, Joe Wright, who at the time was pastor of Central Christian Church in Wichita, Kansas, decided to deliver the same prayer, with some minor changes, before the House of Representatives of the Kansas Legislature. It garnered nationwide attention when the Democrat leaders in the legislature called a press conference and condemned the prayer!

When it was later read by Paul Harvey on his radio program, it prompted the largest response in the history of the program as thousands wrote in requesting copies:

Heavenly Father, we come before You today to ask Your forgiveness and seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, “Woe to those who call evil good,” but that’s exactly what we’ve done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and inverted our values.

We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it “moral pluralism.”
We have worshiped other gods and called it “multi-culturalism.”
We have endorsed perversion and called it “an alternative lifestyle.”
We have exploited the poor and called it “the lottery.”
We have neglected the needy and called it “self-preservation.”
We have rewarded laziness and called it “welfare.”
We have killed our unborn and called it “freedom of choice.”
We have shot abortionists and called it “justifiable.”
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it “building esteem.”
We have abused power and called it “political savvy.”
We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it “ambition.”
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it “freedom of expression.”
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it “enlightenment.”
Search us, O God, and know our hearts today; try us and see if there be some wicked way in us; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.
Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent here by the people of Kansas and who have been ordained by You to govern this great state. Grant them Your wisdom to rule, and may their decisions direct us to the center of Your will.

I ask this in the name of Your Son, the living Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

The public outcry of condemnation over this prayer was swift and vehement. Elected leaders in Kansas and around the country expressed shock and disgust, attempting to distance themselves from such a judgmental expression of disapproval over the trajectory they set our society upon. But, if anything, in the past 27 years our nation’s moral deterioration has only accelerated.

I believe we have reached the point where evil has become so entwined in the fabric of our nation that “our wound has become incurable.” I see no hope for us because we have turned our back on our only Hope — the Lord Jesus Christ.

Hope In the Midst of Despair

The “city on a hill” is no longer sending forth any light. This point was emphasized by Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn of New Jersey in the sermon he delivered at the Presidential Inauguration Breakfast in 2013 (which President Obama skipped). Here’s what Rabbi Cahn had to say:

The “city on a hill” has grown dark. Its lamp has grown dim. America’s glory is fading. For God is not mocked. No nation can war against the very source of its blessings and expect those blessings to remain. And as it was with ancient Israel, the city on the hill now stands under the shadow of judgment.

Even the dismal leadership our nation now suffers under is a form of God’s judgment. He has given us the kind of leaders we deserve.

What is a Christian to do? Be salt and light wherever God has placed you. Advocate for godliness in every sphere. Do not lose heart, even as society grows more wicked by the day. Instead, keep your eyes on Jesus — our Blessed Hope — and pray earnestly for the Rapture!

I feel the United States has gone way too far against God, to ever "go back" to what we once had.
Just as in Jesus day, we cannot force people - nor governments - to accept God's truth, nor to live by His precepts.
Only by accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior, can mens' hearts be changed for the good, and we cannot force people to
do that. That is precisely why Jesus didn't go after the government of the day............He concentrated on reaching each
individual person, and working in their hearts for their own salvation. To put our hope in our country or our government
or a human leader is an effort in futility.

The die has been cast and we are found wanting...........there is no human solution to all that is going on, not only in our country,
but around the globe. Jesus is the ONLY answer, the time of His calling us home is imminent, and the trib and His second coming
is the only way this is going to end any/all the problems of the world. It's time to drop the nationalism of our countries and concentrate
on reaching individuals for Christ..........that is what ultimately matters. The world as we know it - governmentally - is imploding all around
us, just as foretold in God's Word. We shouldn't be fighting it...........we should be putting our energy into reaching out to save souls,
before our God calls us home. jmho
