Yes, there are translations and there are paraphrases. It is best practice to read multiple translations/paraphrases and not just one. When you study, get down to the interlinear and study the original words in Greek and Hebrew. BLB.org has a great tool for doing this and it is free.
Here is something interesting to think about:
The Greek word apostasia is a noun, translated as a 'spiritual departure' only after the reformation. Earlier translations favor it as a 'physical departure'. Our modern translations (NKJV, NIV, RSV, ASV, JB, NASB) carry on a Catholic tradition by...
Hmmm I am not sure about John chapter 4... I thought the debate was over the woman caught in adultery not being in the earliest manuscripts (John 7:53-8:11). It is not that it is "not recorded in the Bible," it is just not found in the earliest manuscripts that we have. It is interesting that...
Wow... Never heard of these guys either but after some research it definitely sounds like a cult. They believe their preachers are modern day "apostles" and salvation only comes by hearing from their preacher?? They deny the Trinity and the foundational truths about Jesus and the Holy...
Same here... and it burns within me and irritates me so much how perfectly Christian they make themselves appear. They use all the right Christian lingo and don't like to be called Mormons anymore even but christians or latter day saints.
2 Timothy 3:5 NASB95 — holding to a form of godliness...
Wow, thank you @pythons I had no idea their beliefs were so heretical to even deny the very deity of Christ. So the JWs were an offshoot of the SDAs? Scary stuff indeed.
I'd agree with this, like most things here on earth, it will be recycled and called something fresh by you know who :devilish
[Ecc 1:9 NKJV] 9 That which has been [is] what will be, That which [is] done is what will be done, And [there is] nothing new under the sun.
Before I came to Christ I had a friend in school who was a SDA. He was always talking about the corruption of the Popes and Jesus 'still hanging on the cross at the Catholic Church.' Him and his wife were very nice people. I found the SDAs very focused on the sabbath, health food, and the...
It's all good, we all sharpen eachother and even great teachers get sharpened from time to time... I think God uses this to test their humility.
IMO I think the OWR will be Lucifarianism and eventually their leader, the AC will arise during the trib.
This is a controversial topic that many Christians will disagree on... But I personally think the death penalty is justified. Here are some verses.
[Rom 6:23 NKJV] 23 For the wages of sin [is] death, but the gift of God [is] eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Paul) [Act 25:11 NKJV] 11...
I caught what the second questioner caught as well but I like Jack's answer... I never thought of the 1st rider (1st seal) being the revealing of the world leader/peacemaker who would later become the AC when Satan indwells him. This sounds correct. Interesting.
Who? LOL... I guess he is finally done with his Trump bashing spotlight? It must have irked him that people liked Trump better than him... Probably because they know he doesn't stand for anything.
I don't trust her.
Also the media attacks on Trump are ramping up like crazy and we are only a few days into 2024... I have a feeling this is going to be a long haul :sad
