Endtime Sign: Upending the Social Order – Part 1

Endtime Sign: Upending the Social Order – Part 1
By Dean Olson

In response to the growing violence directed at police officers across the nation, and in the shadow of the murders of five Dallas cops, followed barely two weeks later by the assassination of three more Baton Rouge officers, Rev Franklin Graham, son of famed evangelist Billy Graham stated the obvious, “Our country…is in trouble… (it) is beginning to implode…We’re on the precipice of anarchy.”

As the forces of evil shred the social fabric of America people are asking why these things are happening and how we got to this point? The answers are evident when current events are examined against the backdrop of end time prophecy. To understand why this is happening we must understand Satan’s goals in the end time and the role America’s breathtaking moral decline plays in achieving those goals.

God blessed America as a beacon of hope and freedom for the world. He did this to demonstrate that when a country is birthed amid and embodies Judeo-Christian morality it can attain unprecedented wealth, prosperity and greatness unlike any other country in the history of the world. It was God’s way of demonstrating the contrast between government according to His ways and the miserable outcomes of all preceding governments that embraced humanist principles. In addition to this blessing, America acted as midwife in the rebirth of Israel in 1948. These two factors, among many others, have placed a supernatural target on our nation’s back.

Satan is intent on destroying America because he understands the tremendous bulwark against evil that a God-fearing United States represents. I believe that the end time new world order and the Antichrist cannot rise until America has been eliminated as an impediment to their ascendancy.

The turmoil currently roiling our nation is the natural outcome of rebellion against our Creator. As we have turned our back on God He has lowered his hedge of protection. Two key elements of that protection are effective national leadership and the social stability that flows from it. As I described in my commentaries, “President Obama: God’s “Gift” to America,” and “The Obama Judgment: America’s King Ahaz,” God has given us a leader we deserve.

The presidency of Barrack Obama has divided, diminished and damaged America unlike any previous administration. His election and reelection capped a long march by evil forces intent on destroying our once great, but now faltering nation. They include atheists, humanists, secular progressives/liberals, socialists, Marxists, Black Nationalists, communists, radical environmental and animal rights activists, anarchists and a panoply of lesser associated leftist movements that share one or more overlapping goals.

Participants in the long march celebrated a significant milestone in Obama’s election. A man sharing many of their own hatreds of America had attained the highest office in the land. He wasted no time revealing how radical and destructive his anti-American leadership would be. Riling up racial strife is a significant tool of his radical agenda that can only be implemented if he tears down the existing social order.

Race-baiting leftists of Obama’s stripe have always used charges of racism to garner political power. Obama and the current crop of leftists have elevated it to an art form by claiming that our criminal justice system is systemically racist. To prove that point they peddle the fiction that unarmed blacks are routinely murdered by racist white police officers.

For the far left it has never been about racism, per se. Their only interest in the topic is to use accusations of racism as a cudgel to beat opponents into submission to undermine the moral legitimacy of America’s social, political, and economic system. Obama’s first presidential campaign slogan was “Hope and Change.” The change he intended is based on convincing enough of the electorate that the system is fundamentally racist and corrupt to justify destroying it.

Typical of that destruction is the dismal state of race relations, especially between blacks and police officers. His disgraceful race-baiting revolves around a demonstrably false narrative that blacks are at risk of being shot by racist white police officers. The truth about police use of deadly force is discussed in Part Two of this commentary.

True to form, during his first year in office Obama revealed his anti-police, leftist disdain for the police when he stated, before all of the facts were known, that a white Cambridge, MA police officer “acted stupidly” when he arrested black Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates. Obama’s lame attempt to walk back his knee-jerk comments led to the awkward “beer summit” that invited Gates, the officer involved, Obama and Vice President Joe Biden to a meeting over beer at the White House.

Obama’s hypocrisy and cynicism were on full display during the phony event. Disgraced Obama cabinet member, Van Jones, who was forced to resign when his communist activities were exposed, revealed Obama’s true feelings about the meeting in an interview on the left wing Democracy Now TV show. According to Jones, Obama was “forced” into a meeting with the “racist” Cambridge officer because, “The right wing and the law enforcement establishment brought the wrath of God down on the White House, I was there, and suddenly he’s forced to do a beer summit to sit eye to eye with a racist police officer… as a black man, even the most powerful man in the world, can not speak about race and if he does he’s then forced to sit humbly across the table from a racist police officer.”

Obama’s leftist sentiments were inflamed yet again in 2014 after the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, Missouri. Again, without knowing all of the facts, Obama said that Brown’s death “stains the heart of black children” as he sent representatives to Brown’s funeral.

Obama was proven wrong again when his own Justice Department investigated the shooting and exonerated the officer. Only in the alternate universe of leftist liberals like Obama is it justifiable to send representatives of the president of the United States to attend the funeral of a convenience store robber and attempted cop killer. I can think of no better example of the end time phenomenon “calling evil good and good evil” (Isaiah 5:20).

When petty drug dealer and burglar Freddie Grey died while in the custody of Baltimore police Obama decried it as another sign of racism saying, “this is not new, and we shouldn’t pretend it’s new.” Unfortunately for Obama and his leftist minions the Grey case didn’t exactly fit their narrative because three of the six officers subsequently charged were black and one was a black female. That didn’t stop Obama from continuing to fan the flames of racial hatred by delegitimizing policing, “…there are problems…when it comes to how policing and our laws are applied in certain communities and we have to pay attention to it.”

Just hours before five officers were killed in Dallas, Obama once again stoked racial animus before all of the facts were known saying that the deaths of two blacks at the hands of police in Louisiana and Minnesota were “…symptomatic of a broader set of racial disparities that exist in our criminal justice system.”

The police have been warning Obama for some time that his divisive rhetoric was creating new risks for officers. After a black male killed Harris County Deputy Sheriff Darren Goforth in an ambush murder in August 2015, Ronald Hoski, president of the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund, complained that “I don’t see and hear from the president when a cop gets shot and killed.”

Jerry Flynn of the New England Police Benevolent Association echoed similar sentiments, “Our members are enraged at (Obama’s) lack of support of law enforcement. It’s clear that he has an agenda and unfortunately, the police are not part of his agenda.”

Many of the bad things that have happened in the United States since the turn of the century, including 9/11 and now perhaps the upending of the social order, are due to God punishing the country for its breathtaking moral decline. The Old Testament is a chronicle of Israel’s repeated failure to obey God and of its refusal to keep His commandments. In Psalm 78:10-11, 40-42, 56-57, the psalmist mentions that Ephraim (meaning Israel at large) did not keep the covenant of God; they refused to walk in His law and forgot His works and His wonders that He had shown them.

Because of the people’s recalcitrance God withheld His blessings and ultimately separated Himself from them. All of the disasters that befell biblical Israel were the result of turning their backs on God. They include famine, pestilence, drought and other natural disasters, along with conquest and enslavement by her enemies.

God Himself tells us that He does not change, “For I am the Lord, I change not…” (Malachi 3:6). His promises to the Israelites then and to America now were conditional based on their obedience to His commandments. He is responding to America the way He responded to Israel in the Old Testament when the Jews turned their backs on Him. And because He has so richly blessed our nation, if we refuse to return to Him our fall will be breathtaking. “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required” (Luke 12:48).

Three major sins have incurred God’s vengeance; legalized abortion, legalized gay marriage and the abandonment of Israel. When the US Supreme Court legalized abortion on demand in the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision all of us assumed corporate guilt for this abomination because the murder of millions of babies in their mother’s wombs became national policy. And now it is taxpayer-funded through abortion mills like Planned Parenthood. Your tax dollars and mine pay to murder babies. This sin alone is more than adequate to invoke God’s vengeance. See my commentary “The Fires of Molech and the Holy Spirit Counterbalance.”

In the 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges decision the Supreme Court ruled that states cannot ban same-sex marriage. That decision paved the way for the massive institutionalization of sin. In Romans 1:24-27 the bible condemns the sin of homosexuality. Alongside it stands the indictment of the approval and institutionalization of it.

Homosexuality is among the sins enumerated in 1 Corinthians 6:9–10. While it is not the only sin mentioned, it is different from all the rest because homosexuality is celebrated by our society. Some observers believe that homosexuality is a super sign of America’s moral decay because our society is trying to justify it by equating it with race and arguing that it is a violation of civil rights to put any kind of restraint on it. It is the first sin openly embraced and endorsed by churches in direct opposition to God’s Word. It is yet another example of “calling evil good and good evil” (Isaiah 5:20).

The third egregious sin is America’s abandonment of Israel under President Obama. It is a sin so abominable that it threatens to invoke God’s curses against those who abuse Israel and the Jewish people, “the apple of His eye” (Zechariah 2:8). “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse…” (Genesis 12:3).

Longstanding US policy towards Israel is that minimally defensible borders must include Arab lands when they invaded Israel in the Six Day War of 1967. That policy was based on a classified military study completed shortly after the war in which American leaders sought to identify borders that would deter future Arab aggression.

In spite of this decades-long policy, and contradicting military experts, Obama has repeatedly pressured Israel to give up the Golan Heights taken from Syria, and Judea and Samaria – often called the West Bank – taken from Jordan, as part of a peace deal with its Arab neighbors. The loss of these areas would make defending Israel impossible because the nation would be barely 10 miles wide at its narrowest point.

Michael Oren, former Israel Ambassador to the US during Obama’s first term, sums it up well. He cites examples of Obama’s hostility to Israel in several departures from long-held traditions in the US-Israel relationship. Obama aired disagreements in the media and pointedly skipped Israel on his first Middle East tour after being elected. These very public displays of dissatisfaction with Israel violated the principle of “no daylight” between Israel and the US by not publically airing discord between the two governments.

Obama also failed to follow the “no surprises” principle; refraining from public announcements of US expectations of Jerusalem until the issues had first been ironed out away from cameras and microphones. According to Oren, Israeli leaders typically received advance copies of major American policy statements on the Middle East and could submit their comments. But Obama delivered his 2009 Cairo speech, with its unprecedented support for the Palestinians and its recognition of Iran’s right to nuclear energy, without consulting or informing Israel.

Oren cites the most harmful consequence of the rift in US-Israeli relations as the negotiations conducted behind Israel’s back with its deadliest enemy Iran. Obama’s disastrous nuclear deal with Iran poses an existential threat to the Jewish state because it enables the Iranians to sneak their way to nuclear weapons that they have repeatedly threatened to use against Israel.

In the second part of this commentary we will examine evidence that Obama’s leftist aspirations may be coming to fruition. A key symptom is the upending of the social order manifested in the hostility and violence towards police officers. We will also discuss research that destroys leftist myths and junk statistics used by Obama to peddle the fiction that racist white cops are wantonly murdering black youths.

Maranatha!
