Thoughts, Questions and Answers……Part 1

Thoughts, Questions and Answers……Part 1
By Don Twobears

Many times I have sat back and wondered to myself about many things. For example, why does every child have a problem with being young, in other words, why do they insist on “Growing Up” as quickly as they can? Or how about, older men having to deal with that “Mid-Life Crisis” thing? Older men wanting to be young again, wasn’t it tough enough the first time around? Obviously, that list can go on and on, almost without end, right?!

I remember when I worked in the Medical Field and for almost 50 years, there was this continuous battle to keep everyone living. “We save lives!” Was the mantra of the day. Yeah…right! Still as yet there were the Cancers, the Heart Attacks, the Strokes…and today?? Well…there are more people in the Cemeteries of this world, than there are those alive and kicking! The statistics will bear me out on this. We could talk about all the “Face-Lifts” that are done or going to be done. And then we have those that do little else than exercise their butts off. I am not trying to be condescending here, just being note-worthy. And every tens years there is a “New Diet” that will literally take the years off you. There will always be the creams and the suaves that will bring you a more youthful look, when everyone already knows that time waits for no man or woman, everyone is going to get old.

And so today, I hear that work is bad for you, the stress will age you, cause Heart Attacks or a stroke. Work will leave your skin leathery, wrinkled and saggy….really?! Of course we know, everyone must work or no food, or cars, or a big house…right? And we remember Mom and Dad telling us on Payday to “Sock-it-away in the Bank”, to make sure you “Have it for a rainy day!” I remember once telling my Dad, “Well Dad, it’s raining somewhere right now, then everyday.” That was a big mistake to say! Yet in my Parents defense, they lived through the “Great Depression.” I understood what they meant. I do remember being a bit of a Brat at times, to their dismay and for my butt on occasion.

So every once in a while, I am asked about this Life thingy. Questions like, “if life is so short, then why must everyone work their collective butts off?!” The best answer is always, “well…what else are you going to do everyday?” Straight forward and simple…right? Then it gets a little deeper. “Yeah, but when one thinks about it, we spend 8 hours of everyday asleep. Then we spend that much time and often even more, at work! That doesn’t leave much time for just fun! And so we work ourselves to death or close to it and then we really do die. And so someone comes along and begins to tell us that we need to begin thinking about “Life after Death or Salvation through Jesus Christ”! I don’t want to think about those things, I want to have as much fun as I can, because you are right…Life is too short! What do we get, baring an accident of some sort, 60-80 years and then it’s all over…IF that?!”

Trust me my Friends, I am sure you have heard them too, the questions are never-ending. I am never able to know how many people will even read this article, because the truth is, that majority of people have no idea “Why we are alive to begin with!” If you are wondering about that, or if you disagree, maybe you should watch the news more often, it will give you an idea of what this life is not about or should not be about….would you agree on that?!

Whether we agree or not, Life does indeed, give us much to think about. There is one thing we must acknowledge though, “Whom was it that created this life.” That should get you off in the right direction. I can tell you this, it was NOT Allah or Buddha or anyone else like that! It was God Almighty!

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

Having stated that from the Bible, God’s Holy Word to you and I, it should be a simple matter to read the Bible and find out your answers. It IS the most informative and the oldest book there is and it will indeed, answer every question you could think of!

My first statement is to always ask them, “Whom do you think created this Life?” And of course, I have recieved far too many replies like “Well…I don’t know.” That is the moment, that you should be showing that person the Holy Word of God, the Bible. If I choose not to show that person, then I am acting against the Lord God, that my Friends is Sin. Anything…that is against the Lord and what HE has written in the Bible, is Sin.

Sin…What is it and how does it apply to us?

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Sin is ugly and the Lord God Almighty hates Sin! There is no such a thing as a “Little White Lie” it is either the truth or it is not…and that is Sin. For example, you go to the supply closet and retreive a pencil for work, then you stick that pencil in your pocket and take it home, that is Theft, that is a Sin.

1 Timothy 2:9 “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array”

Ladies, if it is not in modesty it is a Sin. It is against what the Lord God says in the Bible.

Matthew 5:28 “But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

Gentlemen, for the most part, this verse above applies to you and if you lust in your heart, you have commited Sin. Again Sin is ugly, you have reduced that woman to filth for your own wants and desires. The Lord God did not create her, for you to act in that manner. And what’s important, is that it does not matter whether anyone notices it or not…God knows and that should be enough.

These are very common examples of Sin in our lives and we must understand, that if you are not for God, then you are against God. What is critical here is this, we commit Sin by our thoughts and that is just the beginning. First we need that pencil for work, but then we stick it in our pocket and then leave work with it. If every emplyee took a pencil, there would be none left. Someone would notice this and then the Boss would complain about the theft and the money it cost the company. And you are correct, the pencil is a little thing, problem is, the company must pay for them. You did not. Here’s another.

2 Thessalonians 3:8-10 “Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.”

This should give some, cause to wonder, especially if you are capable of work and yet you don’t. There is another.

My Friends, it brings me to wonder how this applies to our Welfare System. Are we hurting others by not requiring people to work, if they are able? Something to think about…as well as all the legislation that applies. Did we help people or just give them a way out of working? Self Esteem…ya think? It is still Sin. It keeps returning to that verse in Romans…right?! Besides that, what are we teaching the Children? Is this good legislation…or could it be a Sin…by our omission?

Colossians 3: 18-24 “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged. Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

“Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.”

The above passage is for the entire Family and for those that work. Again…if it is against the Lord! This could apply to Grand-Parents, Aunts and Uncles as well…we all fit the bill. Sin is still Sin and Sin is ugly! Besides that, The wages of Sin is death! Sin stands between the Lord God and us, we either ask For the Lord’s Forgiveness and live or we simply continue on and find Death. That Death is for real ya’ll. Romans 6:23

I will continue this article, after this one is published.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

I use the King James version of the Bible and all emphasis is mine.
