One God…only One way to HIM!
By Don Twobears
How odd is it? For many of my articles, Which follow the Word of God, I am able to see many things happening around us and yet, how many others see them as well? People go off to work each and every morning and come home late at night, working for the income. Many people want to know about this Life we live and what the reason for it is…truly is. Yet they work hard and long…for Things! A Bigger house, fancier cars and a large Bank account and when it comes time to retire, they feel that they have been doing nothing more than spinning their wheels…so to speak.
In retirement, they slow down and live off of Social Security and any money they have been able to set aside, just for this particular purpose. Continually, they wonder if that is enough! For the majority though, there is no retirement to speak of, even in their seventies, they must continue to work. How odd is it…they must work just as hard and long as they did when they were in their thirties. Obviously, there is no rest for the weary. How difficult is that work now, as compared to yesteryear? It’s that, or they are demoted because of their age and ability and there are those that are forcefully retired.
When these people are retired, they sometimes end up in “Old-Folks Homes, Retirement compounds” and the like, many are there continually in medical care and a great many are left alone and forgotten. There are indeed some that are cared for by their children, these are the Lucky Ones, although I do not believe in Luck, I am not able to find a better word to use. Maybe the “Fortunate Ones”, I don’t know.
I don’t know about you, but being 65 now…is NOT the new 50. Or does this not apply, I’m just not too sure who penned this “Idea”, or I am NOT aware of how it is to be used. If it were to be a mathematical equation, the end result would be of a different sort, it would still be an individual aspect in all. Getting “Old or Older” which ever appeals to you, is by no means an easy prospect, by a long shot. As a matter of fact, it is most often a painful experience, getting old hurts. It is another chance for us to pay for our youthful endeavors or indiscretions, which ever would apply here.
I would like to say though, I am able to look back over my life and see where I messed up, when I was not figuring a time when I would be old. It sort of brings to mind, that passage of Scripture;
Numbers 32:22-23 “And the land be subdued before the LORD: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the LORD, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD. But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.”
I am acutely aware, that I am suffering in some ways for my partly ill-spent youth. Here’s the point though, How many times have we told our children to be “Careful with themselves?” To be kind to themselves? Do everything the right way…the first time around? I am also acutely aware, that my Mom and Dad had stated the exact same thing…yet…did I listen? Will your children listen to you when you tell them the same thing? By the same token, The above Passage of Scripture is not truly meant in this context, Yet it still jumps in my mind at times. There is a passage of Scripture that does apply, beside the one above. And yet many will have a problem with thinking the same way;
Ephesians 6:1-3 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.”
Please take note of the last sentence, it does not say “how” your old years will be, just that you will live long in the land. Some times it is important for us to read what is there and then take note of what is not said there too. Just more facts from the Word of God, that lays it all out in absolute Truth!
Please take note here, as we speculate on the near future. We already know there will be a “Financial Collapse” coming, where our money may end up as useless paper or numbers on a sheet. Will the wealthy be able to care for themselves? How many know how to build a house of logs, as our long past Ancestors did? Or how to hunt and skin, or to create rows and grow produce? In other words, how many will be able to survive? Will they be able to handle the large numbers of difficulties, that will be required. Obviously, knowledge is important, but strength and resilience are also needed as well. And this is just a speculation for now. But for those left behind, it will become a reality. Quasi-Wierd as it sounds, only the Lord God knows for sure!
I must speculate, being old in those circumstances, will make it all even worse. What about our Health during all of this, how many hospitals will still exist, or medication…Ooops! The Book of Revelation just got a ton more serious, didn’t it? And yet, how many are looking at this, because it will become a reality soon enough. I don’t know about you, but multiple shivers just ran up and down my spine! So how does that “65 is the new 50” work for ya now? Problem is, we haven’t even brought up the idea of Safety, or Security…oh wow…Ooops again! And here I am, thinking, getting Old was bad!
I must guess, the Rapture is about more than just you and I going home to be with our Lord and Savior. It leaves us to conjure thoughts about those left behind, doesn’t it?! I am wondering about those Loved Ones…left behind. Considering the Tribulation, as for those taken in the Rapture, a lot is going to be happening! Which brings me to the ultimate point! How would you feel, if you are one of the ones “Left-Behind?”
The point of this article is to call attention to all of this! We humans have a great deal of work to be done, before the Rapture takes place, we need to be telling everyone we know or meet about Jesus Christ. My Friends, that is the only way they will be saved…from all the above! How many of these people are Friends and Loved Ones?! Whom are you willing to leave behind? Think on this;
Ezekiel 3:18-19 “When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.”
There is a great deal at stake here, my Friends! The Problem is, no one is truly paying any attention! What will a person say, as they stand before the Lord Jesus Christ?! This is most serious for all of us!
So I started off, talking about what people are continually working for. Then we got into Getting Old and the difficulties concerning that. It is for us to teach the younger, to go out on a limb and talk to whomever about Jesus Christ and Salvation through HIS shed Blood at the Cross of Calvary. To tell them that a day is coming, a day in their lives, where their decision for Jesus Christ…or not…will be written in stone. Where Eternity will become a Reality! It is true, we can be so thankful to the Lord God Almighty for saving us, yet the majority…are about to Die Eternally!
I have people writing me every so often, discussing the “Finer Points” of the Word of God. We are to be nourishing the saved and also the Lost. In other words, lets NOT bicker about the Word of God, lets realize our Salvation through Jesus Christ, lets talk to the Lost! Lets be out and about and telling everyone we know, that there is still time, but that time draws closer with every second. That IS the Great Commission!
Yuppers! I am getting old here, my fingers still get sore from Typing, yet my Mind is still on the Lord and HIS Love for all, that NONE should perish. I no longer get around as I did when I was young, I still suffer for the things I did in my Youth, yet…I still have a mouth and I can still talk about Jesus Christ and HIS Love.
Tis absolute Truth…the Things of this world are Temporary…they’re a waste of time!
Jesus Christ…God…still loves us and wants everyone to come to HIM…that’s it! Let’s do this!
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
I use the King James version of the Bible and all emphasis is mine.
