In That One Moment!

In That One Moment!
By Don Twobears

A small story here. I was adopted into a white Family when I was a baby, hence my name is not American Indian. I have adopted my name Dontwobears, given to me by an old Medicine Man, from my home State of Alaska.

justamatteroftimeI was given a little help, or at least I thought it was help, by the Government to find my Birth-Family, when I was about 20-21 years old. The area they sent me was into the Wrangle Mountains of Eastern Alaska, which in later years, I found to be incorrect. My Home is in Kenai Alaska.

4 young guys, about my age, were showing me around the area of their village. We came up to an area that was more heavily forested and they told me to walk straight through the Tree area to the other side. They had something they wanted to do and they would meet me over there. They pointed out that there were lots and lots of Berry bushes and trees and I could eat whatever I found. So they went their way and I headed into the forested area and I picked a lot of Berries along the way, enjoyed every mouthful too.

I was standing in front of two very tall berry bushes, about 9-10 feet tall and was picking berries and munching to my hearts content. Suddenly, I heard a loud “Woof”, sort of like someone clearing their throat. I immediately froze and dropped my berries, the hair on the back of my neck, was standing straight up! I didn’t recognize what had made the sound, just that it was really loud! After a moment, I looked up and there between the two bush tops, were a huge pair of paws, separating the bushes! There was also the largest Bear Face I had ever seen in my rather short life! That one moment was excruciatingly long in my mind.

There was no other thought in my head but to turn and run! These Indian Feet flew into action and I know, advice has always been never run! I was gone like a gunshot! There was however a figure that looked just like me, standing there before the bushes and it was all dust, cause I was GONE!

Needless to say, I could feel it’s breath on my backside as I was running and I could hear the air passing in and out of the Bears mouth! I came flying out of the tree line, running low and breaking the sound barrier as I moved. The Bear stopped at the tree line! The four guys were standing there busting a gut!

They told then, that the Bear was a very old Sow-Bear, she was blind, missing most of her teeth, but still had a good nose. I have no real idea of how big she was was, but she was taller than the bushes and that was enough for me!

I tell you this little story, for one reason. “Fear” can make you do some very strange stuff, most of the time against better judgment! Yet, what is most clear to me, as I think back, was that “One Short Moment” that seemed to last forever, when she made that really loud “Woof.”

Instantly, I knew something was amiss! Most likely it was I, that was amiss! So the question then was, exactly what should I do?! The answer was to RUN! Of course as I said before, that is suppose to be the wrong thing to do in this sort of situation. What would you have done?

This then begs the question, what other things in life, are able to bring about the same reaction? How about Earthquakes, Volcanic activity, tsunami’s, Sink-Holes and the like? You bet they do and I am sure you would have run as well! It would appear that we are able to slide through a number of reactions, in our heads and very quickly at that. It would appear we are able to sense danger, before it truly takes place…right? So I must conclude, the Lord God was correct in placing FEAR in our minds, when HE created us. I would also agree it has served many of us well in our lives.

The Holy Word of God, uses FEAR in two ways;

Psalms 115:11 “Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.”

Of course FEAR in this verse, is talking about our being “Respectful” to God.

Proverbs 28:1 “The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.”

Again, the Word of God tells that the “Wicked” FEAR, mostly because they are doing wrong things. Obviously Sin has it own problems for each of us to deal with…right?

That is my point with this little tale…Sin…our Sin…is the real problem! It even brings us shame, even if it is only in our own minds! Think on this for a moment. FEAR makes us run away, usually out of the prospect of our imminent death! Wouldn’t you agree? It can also make us run away, out of the FEAR of someone knowing what we have done…that accountability thingy. In other words, what does anyone have to FEAR, if their actions are NOT wrong? Make sense ya’ll?

How odd is it…the majority of people now days are running away from so many things. Fighting when there is no reason to fight, the destruction, the pain and agony IF caught? Am I not correct? Yet how many are asking the correct questions, like, WHY are they acting out this way? Most Commentators will give the most logical answers, but is that all there is to the situation?! 9 chances out 10…it is not!

People do not like getting caught, whether it is the Police or an Earthquake. That is always such a Big Change to deal with and believe it or not, most people truly know, there will be an accounting to be had. Point in case, why so many are not willing to accept the Holy Word of God! They will disagree with it at every turn! That is caused by the Word of God Convicting them of their Sin! Point in case!

John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

So if you do not go to Jesus Christ, you will never see the Father! Which also means you will never see Heaven! Obviously there is something that each Individual MUST do, in order to see Heaven and the Father…you must go to Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ is the answer to every problem and HE alone is able to save you from Hell-Fire and the Lake of Fire!

Everything in our lives, have Parameters. Conditions that must be met before anything else takes place. Every thought, that produces action has Parameters and every action has an accountability! Same thing as saying, “There is a Consequence…in every action.” Every thought, every statement, every action has a Consequence…and everyone already knows this inately. It was placed in each of us by the Lord God Almighty.

Ask yourself, how many people are willing to say, they made a mistake?! How many are willing to admit to themselves, as well as in front of others, that they did something wrong? We are the “Fallen Species” here. We should have no problem admitting when we make a mistake, because we will make them! Also, when we go against the Perfect Will of the Lord…it is more than a mistake…it is Sin! If we never ask Jesus Christ to Forgive us of our Sin, the Consequence is real and it is horrible, Hell for Eternity! Everyone….KNOWS this, there are no exceptions to that rule. A significant point in Life!

Each of us, should be raising the proverbial rooftops on this situation, concerning our own SIN. Our faces should be in dirt, before such a Righteous and Just God! We should be begging HIM to forgive us of all our Sin! The question now is this, how many do you think are willing to ask HIM?! And yet, we are all so Sophisticated, so Intelligent, so Educated…and we can not even find the small path…to the Narrow Gate!

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

I use the King James version of the Bible and all emphasis is mine.
