Gain, Profit, or your Soul!

I know that in today’s times, jobs are so important, a good income is paramount, a House and Cars and lots of nice clothes are important. So the next question ought to be, How important should these things be, especially since we are living in the “End of Days?!” There are a great many passages of Scripture that tell us how we should feel and what we should be doing in these times. And yet as we look around ourselves, what do we see going on? Lets look at a very good Passage of Scripture to that end.

Mark 8:35-38 “Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

Wow! That Passage hurts a little doesn’t it? It is asking you and I, to evaluate the things that we feel are so important, in comparison to Jesus Christ and our Eternal Home. Here’s another;

Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Wow again! Kind of short and sweet, wouldn’t you say? And yet it is straight to the point! If the only thing in this life, that makes you happy are Things, then that is your Treasure..that is your God, am I not correct?! “Things” are what you work so hard for, where you spend all your time and “Things” require Money…again, am I correct?!

You are probably Married to a wonderful woman and more than likely have children that you love. So things are not necessarily wrong. Except when they are requiring all of your time, your away from Family too much…right? You are required to have a good education, in order to earn the required amount of money, to buy all those things. How many times are you away from Family, How many Sundays are you at work? What other activities are you required to make, like say rounds of Golf with Clients (Just an example). What about Business trips and the like, are they required as well?

So now your making the right amount of money, what are you doing then, buying a Big House, nice cars, pretty clothes, Private schools, maybe a Nanny as well. You are now prosperous! Yippee! So how much time is there for Family, who is raising your children, do they miss you? Wow oh Wow! The questions just keep coming and coming! What’s important now are the answers! And trust me when I say, the answers will truly matter to you, or at least they should matter. And also this, Whom are thinking about all these things, the answers…right? Are you?! Do they matter to you? So then a big question raises it ugly head, do all these things…matter that much to your Family?! We call these, the Consequences of Your Choices.

What about your Treasures? Are they help to and your Family, or are they a Hindrance? Is your Family growing together, for each other? Or are they learning to be greedy and only concerned for themselves and what they have?! Come on ya’ll, let’s be honest here!

Obviously, you have never wondered why you and everyone else is here on earth to begin with, am I not correct?! The Holy Word of God, says you are here to learn of the Lord God and why HE created you and your Family. It has nothing to do with “THINGS!” Oh, I know…things are helpful to you in living…BUT…are you to be spending all your time and energy acquiring these THINGS?! So the question becomes, How important should “things” be to any of us?!

According to the Bible, are you spending enough time talking with the Lord? Are you giving to others and I do not mean, just lip-service. Is your community better off because of you? Are you Witnessing to others, helping with those that have less than you…the List is long my Friend. Do you attend Church and Worship the Lord? Are you doing what the Word of God asks you to be doing? If your working solely on acquiring THINGS, then the answer is NO!

Those that forget to do as the Lord asks them, are committing Sin! And the Word of God, says that there are consequences for your Sin. Just saying here, but a “Famine” is not always about the lack of food. Sometimes it comes as a lack of Clients as well. Ooops…that one sure would hurt, right?! Are you beginning to get the point here?

Deuteronomy 10:11-13 “And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good? Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.”

As we are able to see here, each of us have a purpose for being here and as you can see in the Passage above…it has nothing to do with THINGS! The Lord God created us because HE wanted a people to care for and a people that would Love HIM in return. It also tells us, that everything, the earth and everything in it, as well as the Heavens belong to HIM! Please remember, the Lord God created everything, each and every one of us…so all things are HIS. That’s the name of that tune!

So now we understand, that all things and persons belong to the Lord God and only HIM. If that is the case, if that is the Truth, then what our Treasure is…should be HIM! Thus HE IS our Treasure and our Hope for Eternity! That is why the Lord went to the Cross of Calvary, to shed HIS Blood to cover our Sins…to make us presentable before a Just and Righteous God! Therefore…all those THINGS do not matter for anything! I have yet to see any Grave that contains all that person worked so hard in Life for!

Here’s a few more questions; When is enough…truly enough? If it hurts…why do we keep doing it over and over again? Why can’t we take our Treasures with us when we die? If when you die, you leave this earth for an Eternal existence…why are your THINGS still on earth? Was the Money really worth it all? How long did the happiness of it really last? Do you HOPE there is a Heaven? And if you do HOPE that…will that be where you go? And how do you know this? What is your Proof?

All these THINGS are bad, when they take the place of Jesus Christ in your life. They are bad, when they keep you from doing the things, that the Lord God asks you to do. Jesus Christ is to be first in everything in your Life, because your Eternal Home depends on that. Besides that, the Lord God told us that Life would be tough, ever since Adam and Eve were thrown out of the Garden of Eden. That being the case and looking at this life, Jesus Christ is the only HOPE we have! The Only Hope we have to live a good life, a happy and contented life! There is one thing that will not exist in hell…HOPE! There is NO HOPE in Hell…!! Think about that for a moment and all of a sudden, the above will become more focused…more real…more important.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

The Truth…has always been the Truth and that is exactly what the Holy Word of God IS…TRUTH! From God’s Lips to your and my ears! Read it, Trust it and Believe it! There is NO other way to Heaven and the Father…than through Jesus Christ! It’s that Plain and Simple ya’ll.
