Who Do You Serve?

Who Do You Serve?
By Dennis Huebshman

One minute after the Rapture takes place, you will either be with Jesus, or you will still be here wondering where people have gone. Knowing Jesus and accepting or believing in Him are two different things. Even satan and his demons “know” Jesus (James 2:19), but they don’t accept His sovereignty. Therein lies the problem with many formal religions today. Rituals are done, songs are sung, prayers are said, and all the right religious activities are carried out. Thing is, they are the “new” customs, not what the Bible directs us to do. Don’t forget the super light show and the up-beat music to keep you tuned in. It’s a stage production and is absolutely no good if there is not a message that is from the Bible about eternity, and where you’ll spend it. Jesus is our Savior, and these productions conveniently skip this fact. There is absolutely no other way to get to Him than to accept the Free Gift He provided at Calvary to cover our sins.

Prosperity preachers are trying to sell the idea that God is Santa Claus and they are taking a few verses out of context to “prove” their point. There are only two ways we have before us as we take our last breath on this earth, and we will either be with Jesus our Lord and Savior, or we will be in Hell in total darkness suffering all eternity because we wanted the things of this earth over Him. Organized religions today are moving away from the Word as it makes their parishioners uncomfortable, and they might stop coming if the truth is given. Worse yet, they might just start giving less and therefore the church budget suffers.

We have a valuable Free Gift available for something we have not “worked” for, but is there in spite of ourselves. It is totally improper to ask how we can pay for this or earn it as that would insult the “Giver”. Those who accept this Gift will have eternal life because someone else earned it for them. It is a Gift, not a Wage, and is offered to all, but not accepted by all. On our own, we cannot earn or pay for even one second in Heaven. Think about this for a moment; if you give someone a gift, and they don’t open it and use it, you would have to say your gift was rejected. That’s how simple it is with the Father. He’s offering, and all you have to do is accept His gift. Let Him know you realize you are not worthy of His gift, yet because of His promise, ask Him for forgiveness of your sins and you want His Son Jesus to be your Savior. He will turn no one away.

Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Eternal death is the penalty for not accepting God’s Gift. By claiming your own life without God or Jesus is accepting your place in the Lake of Fire. It is not a death where one dies and has no knowledge of what’s going on. Anyone there will be shown every minute of eternity exactly why they are in torment. Eternal life is just a transition from this life to a perfect eternity with the Savior

Sin is disobedience to God, and all sin is against Him, and He alone can offer Forgiveness, Grace and Mercy. (Psalm 51:4) John 3:16-18, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world might be saved through Him. (The rest is most important) He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

John 10:7-9; 16, “So Jesus said to them again, Truly, Truly, I say to you; I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, and the sheep do not hear them. I am the door, if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved and go in and out and find pasture. (16) I have other sheep which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice and they will become one flock with one Shepherd.”

And for the Straight and Narrow spoken of in Matthew 7; John 14:6, “Jesus said I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” 1 John 5:10-12, “The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. The one who does not believe in God has made Him a liar because he does not believe in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. He who has the Son has life, but he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” This is plain and simple.

We definitely do not deserve God’s Free Gift as Romans 3:23 says “All have sinned and fallen short.” We show gratitude to God for His Gift by following Romans 10:9 that tells if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord, and that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved.

Paul tells us in Ephesians 2:8-9 that we are saved by Grace through Faith, and not of ourselves (works). Too many religions today believe one has to “do” something to earn their way to the Savior, however, if that were the case, the sacrifice of Our Lord Jesus would have been incomplete and totally unnecessary.

This does not mean we will never sin again after we have accepted Jesus as our Savior. When the Savior said, “It is finished” (John 19:30), He was declaring that all that had to be done for our salvation was completed by giving us a once-for-all sacrifice that would be acceptable to the Father. When, not if, we sin after having Jesus in our heart, we go to 1 John 1:8-10 for the remedy.

Jesus died for All the sins of the world, and only one sin is unforgivable. That is to take your last breath on this earth without having accepted Jesus as your Savior. God gives us the Free Gift, and He also gives us the freedom to either accept or reject that Gift. He has every right to impose His will upon us, but He allows us the freedom to say to Him we want to be with Jesus and all the Saints forever; or we can say we don’t want the Gift and spend eternity separated from Him. He knows there will be many who only think of themselves in this world, and are not concerned with their eternity.

There are several Judgments as I have written about in the past, but for the unbeliever who does not accept the Gift, their Judgment will be the Great White Throne and then cast in the Lake of Fire as given in Revelation 20:11-15. Be like Joshua as given in Chapter 24:15 and you and your family Serve The Lord. It’s completely your choice – Choose Wisely as you will live with it forever.

Maranatha!
