The Bible is to Make Us Ready

The Bible is to Make Us Ready
By Dennis Huebshman

Whenever someone buys a new appliance or automobile, there is a “user” or “buyer” guide that comes with it. Most of the time, these guides are not even looked at until there is a problem. Our Heavenly Father has provided us a “Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth” guide (BIBLE), the He would very much like for us to refer to daily.

Some people will say they don’t read the Bible because it’s just a bunch of old stories; or it’s just there to take away life’s joys; or even, “I’ve just no time for this.” A short time ago, I heard a well-known pastor say, “The Bible is not there to make us happy; but rather to make us ready.”

Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All scripture is breathed out by God, and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, (17) that the man/woman of God may be competent, equipped for every work.” (ESV – any emphasis is mine)

There are those who say the teachings in the Bible were for ancient times, and are not relevant for today. Many look upon the Word of the Lord as foolishness (1 Corinthians 1:18), and it can’t possibly apply to our modern times. They forget things such as; 2 Peter 3:8, “But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord, one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.”

Also, God is omniscient, which is all-knowing. We are the ones in need of education, not Him. He is omnipotent, which is having unlimited power. He is also omnipresent, or everywhere at the same time. This includes past, present and future. What some have trouble understanding is, God does not use a wrist-watch or wall clock. He’s not bound by time. The 24/7/365 was made for us. Our so-called laws of nature do not apply to Him.

How else can we explain the way Jesus was able to make such accurate “prophecy”? He, being God, had the ability because He is 1/3 of the Holy Trinity. Yes, He divested Himself of most of His powers by “being a little lower than the Angels for a while” (Hebrews 2:7), but that did not cause Him to “lose” any of His omniscient authority. He plainly stated in John 10:30, “The Father and I are One.”

One example of this is John 1: 47-48, “Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit. (48) Nathanael said to Him, How do you know me? Jesus answered him, before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I Saw You.”

Peter gives instructions that still apply in our time, (2 Peter 1:19-21) “And we have something more sure, the prophetic Word, to which you will do well to pay attention; as a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; (20) knowing this first of all, that no prophesy of scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. (21) For no prophecy was ever proclaimed by the will of men, but men spoke from God, as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” (Also 1/3 of the Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit)

The accuracy of the Bible has been proven over and over, and especially in our generation. It was said Israel would be back in their own land. There were numerous verses in the Old Testament such as; Isaiah 66:8; Isaiah 11:12; Ezekiel 36:1,8,24; Ezekiel 37:21-28; Zechariah 12:3-4 and others just to name a few. Some of the prophecies were about the Jews returning from Babylonian captivity; however many were for a period of time far into the future.

May 14:1948 became a day like has never seen before. Israel once again became a sovereign nation after almost 2500 years. No other nation on earth has ever done this. Moses even foretold of the Israelites being driven from their land and scattered throughout the nations. He also told them they would eventually be brought back. (Deuteronomy 30:1-5) President Harry Truman was the first world power leader to acknowledge Israel as a sovereign nation, giving it credibility.

Israel was attacked almost immediately, by numerous countries around it, after they declared themselves back in their own land. Through what could only be described as miraculous workings of the Lord, they survived all attacks, and in June 1967, they once again entered Jerusalem. President Donald Trump declared Jerusalem as the true capital of Israel on December 6, 2017. Since then, several other nations followed suit. It was predicted there would be massive demonstrations and military attacks because of this declaration, but so far, none of any significance has taken place.

Though there have been numerous attacks against Israel ever since their formation, they remain a relatively peaceful nation. God has blessed them with amazing knowledge, and many of their medical and agricultural break-throughs have been shared with the world. Their military ranks as one of the mightiest in the world. The sad part is, a very low percentage of all Jews world-wide, are Messianic, or believers in Jesus as being the true Messiah. It’s estimated that only about 1% – 2% are believers.

This is not a surprise, as the Bible talks about the fullness of the Gentiles (Romans 11:25) being completed, and then the Father will again turn His full attention to His chosen people. By the end of the 7-year tribulation, all will believe in Yeshua (Jesus) as their true Messiah. The price will be very steep as Zechariah prophesied at least 2/3 would be martyred.

Everything the prophets spoke of, including Jesus, Paul, Peter, John and others, that would take place just before the return of Jesus, is in place right now. Today’s news mirrors what the Bible has said the times would be like in the last-days. The only event left on the prophetic calendar that will take place just before the 7-year wrath, is described in 1 Corinthians 15:51-53, and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. It will be the calling-up (Rapture) of all believers to meet Jesus in the air.

People say that Israel is not “at peace” because of constant terrorist attacks, and rockets being fired into the country. However, compared to crime in other major cities like Chicago, Israel could be considered relatively peaceful. Also, they have taken desert land, and through modern irrigation technology, are actually exporting fruits, vegetables and wine to many other countries. Recent discoveries of massive natural gas and oil deposits have assured them of becoming one of the very wealthy nations on earth.

This is as it should be, so they will get attacked in the Ezekiel 38/39 war. There had to be something that would be a “hook” that would cause other nations to consider conquering Israel. Russia, Iran and Turkey have formed a coalition that has never existed before. However, they are specifically named as the aggressors in the Ezekiel war. All three of them are in the midst of severe economic crisis, and it’s just too tempting to ignore Israel’s great wealth.

For all of this to make sense, one has to study what the prophesies are, and compare them to today. When someone realizes the events happening are in the Bible, they can also see just how close we actually are to the 7-year Tribulation.

For all who would like to be “guaranteed” they will miss the Wrath, instructions are found in Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23; Romans 10:9-13; 1 John 1:8-10; 1 John 5:10-12 just to get started. John 14:6 is the absolute key verse to tie all this together, “Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by Me.” Without a belief in this, all else is useless. This verse is the authority believers have, that by accepting Jesus, they can be saved. False prophets are proclaiming there are “many ways” to Heaven, and you don’t need Jesus to get there. They will be given “special consideration” at the Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11-15).

There isn’t any price you can pay; you can’t earn it; and none of us deserve the free gift. But for those who truly believe in and accept the Savior, they will not be turned away. When He calls His church (all Believers, not a religious denomination), all who have accepted Him will not go through the Wrath. It’s a promise from the Father, and He cannot lie (Titus 1:2)

This is not like a lottery where you “might” win; but is an absolute truth. All who call on the Lord will be saved (Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13) Get your reservation in today. You don’t have to stand in a long line, or hope the check doesn’t bounce. He’s ready every minute of every hour of every day to take your call. However, after He calls the believers up to meet Him, it all changes. There will be those who accept Him during the tribulation, but most likely will end up martyred. The pre-tribulation plan is obviously the best-case scenario. Call today, Tomorrow maybe just too late.

Maranatha!
