Is The Cost Too High?

Is The Cost Too High?
By Dennis Huebshman

At what point will anyone deem their relationship with the Lord to be too expensive? In today’s world, it doesn’t take a whole lot. People are more “world” conscious than “Jesus” oriented. Churches that teach directly from the scriptures are becoming fewer and fewer. “Bible-Thumping” pure scripture messages are rapidly fading into the background and are being replaced by stage productions. Fog machines and ultra-stereo systems are moving in to replace pianos, organs and even acapella music. Messages that speak of sin and hell are rare, and in some mega-churches are non-existent. After all, they must keep attendance up and contributions flowing in.

We are in the time spoken of in Daniel 12:4 that says, “But you Daniel, close up and seal the book until the time of the end. Many will dash about, and knowledge will increase.” (emphasis mine)

Anyone who passed away even 30 or 40 years ago would be totally astounded to what is available today. My Father passed away in 1974, and he never saw a digital watch. We have some youths today that have difficulty telling time on a watch that has hands and 1 through 12 numbers on the face. I saw a social media post that showed teenagers looking at a “rotary dial phone”, and they actually could not figure out how it worked. Technology has increased even within the last 5-10 years that was only fantasy 30 years ago.

The significance of all this, and much more, is that as knowledge gains speed, the Lord is pushed further and further away. With all the explicit video games, morality in movies and prime-time TV leaving nothing to the imagination, and alternate lifestyles being taught in grade schools as the new normal; where would Jesus fit in?

Looking at Luke 9:23-26, “Then He said to them all, if anyone wants to become My follower, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow Me. (24) For whosoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. (25) For what does it benefit a person if he gains the whole world, but loses or forfeits himself? (26) For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when He comes in glory and in the glory of the Father and the Holy Angels.” (This is understood to mean everyone – females as well as males.)

All that is happening today is no surprise to the Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus told of two gates leading into eternity, and everyone who has ever lived, or will have lived, will have to pass through one of these gates. Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide, and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. (14) But the gate is narrow, and the way is difficult that leads to life, and there are few that find it.”

The “difficulty” of the narrow gate is the world doesn’t accept something or someone who is unseen – unless it’s satan-inspired. By the way, there is no third gate regardless of what false prophets may tell you. People put their faith in what they can see or touch.

God knows of the challenges we face, as a part of Himself experienced the life and death of a human. Jesus was fully God who also became fully man so that He could honestly say He understands what we go through. His credibility is undeniable, and He never sinned. He allowed Himself to “become lower than the Angels for a little while…” (Hebrews 2:9), so that He could actually experience death on our behalf. In fact, for the brief moment that He became separated from the Father for the first time ever, He experienced what the eternal Hell would be like for those who would end up there. When He said, “My God, My God! Why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:46), that very moment every sin from all times were laid on Him as He was our “sacrificial Lamb”. The Father cannot tolerate “any” form of sin, so He would have had to “free Himself” from the Son long enough for the pure blood to cover those sins. Anyone who accepts the sacrifice Jesus made will have their sins removed and will be forgiven of them. Anyone who rejects the Savior will have to account for every sin they ever committed at the Great White Throne Judgment.

There is a mentality in this world today, that believing in and accepting Jesus as Savior is unnecessary. After all, there are “notable” preachers who are saying that accepting the Savior is “optional” as there are “many” ways to Heaven. This goes along with “we all worship the same god” and satan chimes in with “it’s ok to worship God, but Jesus doesn’t really count”. The notables and satan have a special reservation in the Lake of Fire at the end of the Millennium. Sad part is, they will pull a lot of souls there with them.

There are two verses I would like to share; John 14:6, “Jesus said I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” Next is John 10:30, “The Father and I are one.” No other so-called god claims to have a son, much less ever offered to sacrifice itself for its followers. Most of them require total submission without any real promise of an eternal life. We have a God, A Heavenly Father, who loves us so much, and doesn’t want to see any of His children fail. (2 Peter 3:9)

Our Father allowed a part of Himself, His Son, to pay a very dear price for us, that He did not consider to be too expensive. He has the perfect right to “demand” our worship and praise and acceptance of that sacrifice, but instead He allows us the free-will to accept or reject the offer. This is a pure form of love that one cannot put a monetary value on it.

God also knows that anyone who chooses Jesus will have troubles in this world. We are seeing more and more, a blatant resistance to Christianity, and Christians are being singled out for special prosecution. Some bakers, florists and photographers can definitely attest to this, and it will only get worse. Satan is pulling out all the stops as he knows time is getting short. As with us, he does not know the day or hour of the Rapture, but the signs are definitely there, and he reads them very well.

Our Father also knows there’s a satanic movement taking place that is very open for the first time in our history. There are “churches” of satan opening around the country. Talk about an oxymoron! Those who accept satan will be given a delusion, so they will believe what’s false. (2 Thessalonians 2:11) My belief is the Father has already started to put that delusion into those He knows will reject Jesus, and will not call out to Him. The clock to the Rapture is rapidly approaching the “Midnight Hour” when the Bridegroom will come for His Bride – All Believers on this planet. After the Rapture, the Wrath of God will come upon this world in increasing intensity, so that by the end of the 7-year period the majority of people who enter it will either be martyred for coming to Jesus, or killed by any number of other unpleasant ways.

For Christians – as I said All Believers – the Rapture will be worth everything we could possibly desire above all else. For those who call out to Jesus after the Rapture, it will most likely cost them their lives, but they will also end up with the Savior. The anti-christ will not spare anyone who will not worship him or take his mark.

The irony is, for one to be “Rapture Ready”, it’s not really difficult or an impossible task. The hard part is getting the right “mind-set”. Anyone who puts their faith and trust in Jesus will be saved. For anyone who believes they have sinned “too much”, they need to ask themselves one question; how many sins had they committed when Jesus went to the Cross? He died for “all of our sins”, not just a few. The unforgivable sin is to reject Him and His free offer. The procedure is so simple, that many believe it can’t be true.

First, tell Jesus – out loud or in your mind – that you know you are a sinner, and that you need Him to be your Savior. Before you try to say you’re not a sinner, Romans 3:23 says we have all sinned and fallen short. Next, let Him know you believe He really died for all of our sins, and that God raised Him from the dead. Ask Him to forgive you and to have the Holy Spirit come and be inside you. Believe this, and He will accept you. A couple of verses, “All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13) Also, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)

The body we presently have was only designed to last a short period of time on this earth. Our souls – the part that thinks and feels – will last forever. Where that “forever” will be is completely up to us. It’s an individual process, and all who accept Jesus will have a wonderful eternity.

All who do not will have eternal punishment that will be never-ending. Some will believe the cost of accepting Jesus is just too expensive, and will “cramp” their style on this earth. They will trade away their eternal Home in Heaven for a few possible short years here followed by an eternity of darkness and suffering. We are not guaranteed another hour here. Luke 12: 16-20 tells of a rich landowner who was proudly thinking of all he possessed, and thought of building bigger barns to hold even more wealth. God told him he was a fool, and would die that very night, and then who would have all he left behind. We take nothing from this earth with us when we leave except for the love that is in our hearts.

As soon as we take our last breath here, our eternity is set. If we are Raptured or die in Christ, we will be with Jesus forever. If anyone dies without accepting Him, Revelation 20:11-15 tells where they will spend their forever. No appeals; no pardons; no third option. Period.

No matter what “important” decisions you may have made in your lifetime, the decision to accept Jesus will totally outweigh any of them. Call out to Him. Your sins – all of them – will be forgiven and forgotten by the Father. When He looks at you, He will see His Son.
