God Never Forced

God Never Forced
By Dennis Huebshman

We have an amazing and wonderful creator who in “normal” terms goes totally against the grain. John 3:16 starts out with, “For God So Loved the World….” We wonder how anyone could love so deeply and yet not take advantage of the powers He possesses. (emphasis mine throughout) After all, without Him, this world would not be in existence.

He is omnipresent which means He is everywhere at once. This is something unique to the Trinity; Father, Son and Holy Spirit; that satan can only wish he could do. Satan has to rely on his demons (fallen angels) to report to him on activities around the planet. God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit don’t have to travel anywhere as they are already there. And no, I can’t explain it other than to know it is so.

He’s omnipotent in that He is all-powerful. There are only a few things God cannot do and one is to lie (Titus 1:2 and Hebrews 6:18). Also, He is a perfect God who cannot accept sin of any nature from the very least to the very worst, which meant He had to have the “Perfect Sacrifice” in order to forgive all the sins of the world. He knew man would never be able to satisfy this perfection, so He compensated this by supplying the needed sacrifice Himself.

He is omniscient in that He is all-knowing. In 1 Corinthians 1:25, “For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.” No matter how wise we may think we are, God figures us out before we can even have the thought. With all this in mind, people who think they are keeping anything away from the Father are totally foolish. When we confess our sins, it is best to confess them ALL, because He already knows about them.

On this earth, when someone is in charge of something, they will often use forms of force to get others to comply with their wishes. This could be as minor as the threat of “writing someone up” to actually firing them from their job. Our Heavenly Father could just think a thought, and end our very existence if He so wished. Instead, He gives us the Free-Will to choose whether or not to worship Him and accept His Son’s sacrifice for us. If He forced anyone to do so, it would not be a sign of love but of tyranny and dictatorship.

Think of the arrival of the prophesied Messiah. The religious leaders and many of the people of that day expected a “Grand Entrance”, possibly with multiple heavenly signs and wonders making the announcement of the arrival. As is, God used angels speaking to shepherds in a field to give the first message of the arrival of Jesus. Shepherds were a low-class people, and in today’s society they would have been the last ones to be notified. They were led to an infant in a stable under less than regal conditions, and were allowed to see Him and worship Him first and foremost. In His messages, Jesus often referred to Himself as the Good Shepherd.

Also, rather than many wonderful heavenly displays, God used one star to guide the wise men to the home where Jesus was at the time and allow them to bring their gifts. The key between these events was the much-awaited Messiah was a “child”. He was not a majestic warrior coming in on a great White Steed with an army of followers to set up His kingdom here to rule and reign from then on. Also, the religious leaders of that time believed they would all be appointed to high positions which they believed they deserved, with much pomp and circumstance. Wise men from another land knew more about His coming than the religious leaders of the area that was known long before He was even born. The prophet Micah foretold in Chapter 5:2, “As for you, BETHLEHEM Ephrathah, seemingly insignificant among the clans of Judah, from you a king will emerge who will rule over Israel on my behalf, one whose origins are in the distant past.

God could have fulfilled all expectations and came in with all splendor and glory with the demand that everyone worship Him or be eliminated. He chose instead to come in the form of a “helpless” baby, born to a young teenage girl who was a virgin. He chose a man of good moral conduct who would listen to an Angel and not have the young woman put away, but accepted the child as his own. God chose for that child, except for one incident at the Temple at age 12, to not even start His ministry until the age of 30, which would give credibility for Him to serve in the Temple as 30 was an age that had been set when Moses and the Israelites were in the dessert after leaving Egypt. The rule still stood, and this was one the Sanhedrin followed.

Had the religious leaders studied the scrolls and other materials that were available without all the human additions that they made, they would have realized their beliefs were all wrong. Jesus fulfilled over 100 prophesies, just by coming to the Earth, and the method He was predicted to die by was told 700 years before the crucifixion was even used. Also, they totally did not believe the coming Messiah would be killed because that just didn’t make sense. To them, the conqueror of the world wouldn’t come here just to die so the sins of the world could be washed away and totally forgotten by the Father.

Jesus had to be fully human, yet still be fully God. (Hebrews 2:7-9) His first coming was to be the Lamb of God – perfect sacrifice – just as the lambs in the exodus had to be perfect and without blemish. If our Savior had committed even one sin during His lifetime here, the sacrifice would not have been acceptable. He had to be in the blood-line of David, and both Mary and Joseph could be traced back to him.

He was the epitome of an absolute true love this world had never experienced, and He could’ve stopped the crucifixion with just one word. However, as told in Luke 22:42, “…. Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me, yet not My will, but yours be done”. That is voluntary submission, and people today are saying He was afraid of what would be happening. As fully man, He did not really want all the abuse He knew He faced, but as fully God, He knew if He did not the world would still be lost.

God could have forced everyone from the beginning of time to be and do whatever He wanted, however that is not His nature. He wants us to voluntarily come to Him and be with Him forever. In order to do this, the only thing we can do to gain our salvation is to ACCEPT the Savior as our Lord and King, and to believe He really came to this earth to die in our place for our sins, and to be raised from the dead by the Father and Holy Spirit to seal that promise. (Romans 10:9 paraphrased) All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved (Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13) and their sins will be forgiven.

Some have said, “But you don’t know what I’ve done, and I don’t believe God will forgive me.” My standard reply is, “How many sins had you committed when Jesus was on the Cross?” He died for ALL SINS, however to receive this pardon, the stipulation is to ask Him to forgive you, and ask Him into your heart to be your Savior. Will you cease from all sin after this – not on this earth. Romans 3:22-23, “…namely the righteousness of God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ for ALL WHO BELIEVE. For there is no distinction, (23) for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Once a person has accepted Jesus, there is the path given in 1 John 1:8-10, “If we say we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. (9) But if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to FORGIVE our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (10) If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.”

So, to summarize, He not only gave us the perfect sacrifice to take away our sins, but has promised to have the Holy Spirit live within us when we accept His Son’s death, burial and resurrection, and when we confess we are sinners and ask for that forgiveness. Afterwards, we have a method of keeping ourselves in His will by following the path for forgiveness of any new sins. God knows we will not be sin-free as long as we’re on this earth, and has made it possible to be with Him when we leave.

However, He does have the right to set the standard of how we are able to come to Him. John 14:6 is very plain when, “Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, and no one comes to the Father except through Me.” No one is forced to accept Jesus, although ALL who do will be saved. All who do not will be at the White Throne Judgment in Revelation 20:11-15 and will end up in the Lake of Fire with satan, the anti-christ and the false prophet. These are the Lord’s words, not mine. Anyone – Everyone – who ends up there will have chosen of their own free will to be there. God has given all He can for us to believe in Him through the True Bible, not man’s “adjusted” versions. Through faith we have to be the ones to believe or not, and if we do, He will not turn us away. Romans 8:1, “There is therefore no condemnation in those who are in Christ Jesus.”

My prayer is ALL who see this, if they haven’t already, Call on the Name of the Lord!
