Just Preach The Word By Dennis Huebshman In 2 Timothy 4:1-5, Paul was in his…
Faith Comes By Hearing
By Dennis Huebshman
Romans 10:9-13;17, “because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord; and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (10)For with the heart one believes, and is justified; and with the mouth, one confesses and is saved. (11) For the scripture says, Everyone who believes in Him will not be put to shame. (12) For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all (not allah or any other man-made god); bestowing His riches on all who call on Him. (13) For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (17) So faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the word of the Lord.” (emphasis mine)
So, a question would be, is someone saved just because they believe God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit exists? How about James 2:19, “You believe that God is One, you do well. Even the demons (fallen angels) believe, and shudder.” We know the demons and satan are not saved, and they have no pathway to forgiveness and eternal salvation.
Then, there is Hebrews 11:3;6, “By faith we understand that the universe was created by the Word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. (6) And without faith, it is impossible to please Him; for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists, and that He rewards those who seek Him.”
Just hearing about Jesus alone saves no one. A relationship is required in order to say we are truly one of His. John 10:27-30, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me (28) I give them eternal life (a gift), and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand. (29) My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. (30) I and the Father are One.”
When the Bible referred to someone “knowing” another, it was describing an intimate relationship, not just a passing acquaintance. For Him to say He would give them eternal life, and no one could snatch them away, is the same as saying they have called out, received the free gift of Salvation that He paid for completely, and they would never lose it. The Heavenly Father has given His word on this, and this covenant is forever. We will still slip and sin while on this earth, but we are provided a pathway to forgiveness in 1 John 1:8-10.
In the world today, satan and his demons are working overtime, and are finding many souls that are all too willing to listen to them. False prophets and antichrists are in full swing preparing the way for the ultimate evil one and his false prophet. It’s no surprise to our Heavenly Father, as 1 Corinthians 1:18 plainly states, “For the word of the Cross is folly to those who are perishing; but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.”
For a person who has truly become a member of Jesus’ flock, the Holy Spirit is within us to help battle all the evil darts thrown our way. We have the assurance of 1 Peter 1:8-9, “Though you have not seen Him, you love Him. Though you do not now see Him, you believe in Him, and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory; (9) obtaining the outcome of your faith, the Salvation of your souls.” Don’t forget what Jesus told Thomas in John 20:29, “Jesus said to him, have you believed because you have seen Me? Blessed are those who have not seen, yet have believed.”
Going to 1 John 5:10-12, “Whoever believes in the Son of God, has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God, has made Him a liar; because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning His Son. (11) And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. (12) Whoever has the Son (received and accepted Him), has life; whoever does not have the Son of God, does not have life.” One can say they believe Jesus is real, but to not seek a true relationship condemns them to the Lake of Fire. (Revelation 20:11-15)
There are those who say, Yes, Jesus was a real person, but He never claimed to be God. My life verse is John 14:6 which covers this very well, “Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” Also, Acts 4:12, “And there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” I’ve already given John 10:13 where Jesus said He and the Father are One.
All the above is why I encourage everyone to read from God’s word daily. Books to really get started with as you form a habit of reading, would be John followed by Romans. They introduce the Savior, and give the message of the Cross that leads to eternal Salvation.
What we are seeing in “organized religion” today is sad, but again not a surprise to God. Many people who have declared they are believers, and are proclaiming they are giving God’s word, have proven themselves to be false prophets. Some are now saying there’s many ways to Heaven, and all religions worship the same god. (note the small “g”) Abominations mentioned in the Bible are proclaimed as no longer being sin, but all lifestyles (even pedophiles) are acceptable. When you have presidential candidates that state in their platforms that post-birth abortion is acceptable, they are advocating that murder is okay.
This is not just in America, but is taking hold world-wide. To say all this is not a sign we are in the last days of this earth, would be disputing Jesus, Paul, John, Peter and others. It’s apparent the Father is giving everyone a chance to call out and accept Jesus before the 7-year Wrath begins. (2 Peter 3:9) However, as He did throughout all the Bible, His patience will soon run out, and the Wrath/Tribulation will start.
For everyone who is seeing this message who has not called out to Jesus, it is not too late to become a member of His flock. The unforgivable sin is to leave this earth without having claimed His free gift of eternal Salvation, through the shedding of His precious sin-free blood. By doing this, one is declaring they don’t need a Savior, which is the same as calling the Holy Spirit a liar which is blasphemy. To go against any member of the Godhead is to go against the whole Trinity. At the moment of death, everyone’s eternity is set. It will either be Heaven or Hell, and no other option is available.
Satan would like you to believe there’s plenty of time to come to Jesus later; but for now relax and enjoy all this life has to offer. His biggest lie that started our downfall in the Garden of Eden is still very effective; “Did God Really Say?”. (Genesis 3:1) People who have set their minds on this earth and not their eternal souls are still accepting this willingly.
To increase our Faith, and become more secure in our relationship with Jesus, we need to “feed” our souls with the absolute true word from the Father. The total cost has been covered, and all who receive the gift will reap the reward of being with our Savior forever. Romans 8:1-2, “There is therefore, now no condemnation, for those who are in Christ Jesus. (2) For the law of the Spirit of Life has set you free, in Christ Jesus, from the law of sin and death.”
Who would not want to appear before the “Judgment Seat of Christ” to receive or lose “rewards” for what we did while on this earth? At this Judgment, no one is condemned, but will be assured of a forever place in Heaven. (2 Corinthians 5:10) The alternative will be to wait for the end of the millennium and go before the Great White Throne. All who are lost from the beginning of this earth, and all who will have not accepted Jesus from Calvary through the millennium will be at that Judgment. They will have a “forever place”, but in torment, not paradise.
Our Savior is waiting for your call, but soon He will be calling up all true believers to meet Him in the air. Then the 7-year tribulation will begin, and it will be the most terrible time this earth has ever seen. People will still be able to accept Jesus as Savior, but at a cost they could have avoided by receiving Jesus prior to that moment. It’s an individual choice, and completely up to each person. No one has “sinned enough” that the blood of the Savior cannot cover them. Only those who will not seek His forgiveness and come to really “know” Him, will be lost forever. Sadly, this will be a majority of all who will have ever lived. (Matthew 7:13-14)
Be one of us who will be judged by the Savior at His Judgment seat. You may not receive a lot of rewards, but the ultimate reward is to have an eternal life that will be pain-free, sin-free, and an atmosphere of total love. Call today.
