God An Abuser?
God An Abuser?
By Dennis Huebshman
The mentality of some individuals and groups (radical left) today, is getting way out of hand. One of the latest, and totally ludicrous claims is that God lacked Mary’s consent to impregnate her, therefore, she was sexually assaulted. This is added to the ridiculous outcries about the Christmas classic “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer” being an abusive show, and songs like “Baby it’s cold outside” are sexually inappropriate. How about the Hight School Principal banning candy canes, because when turned upside down they form the letter “J” for Jesus, and this isn’t allowed in his school.
Is it just me, or does anyone else see how ridiculous our society is becoming? Does anyone else see the warnings of Jesus (Matthew 24) and Paul (2 Timothy) boldly coming to life? We’ve always had some ignorance concerning Christianity and believers of the Savior, but all the warnings are here at one time. The end-time clock is ticking.
Back to the “professor” and his claim; even though this Minnesota State University “professor” was named in numerous articles, I will not dignify him by posting his identity, and therefore give him more publicity. I will say for the record, he has blasphemed the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, and should he not repent before his last breath on this earth, he will have to try and explain his assertions at the Great White Throne. That’s not my judgment, but the Lord’s because the Holy Spirit is being blasphemed and that’s the unforgivable sin. Sad, but many of yesterdays “left-wing protestors” are now college profs. and are influencing a whole generation of youths in their radical thinking.
While it is believed Mary was a young teenager, she was never portrayed as being irresponsible or uneducated anywhere in the Bible. In fact, her bloodline is shown to be listed in Luke ‘s account of the lineage of Jesus; and when you look at the lines in Matthew and Luke, both of Jesus’ parents descended from King David.
Joseph accepted the child giving Jesus credibility of his lawful heritage, even though he and Mary did not have relations until after the birth of the Messiah. Mary having a blood line from David, caused prophecies to be fulfilled reference the “seed” of David as being the Savior of the world.
Starting with Isaiah 7:14 (NKJV), “Therefore, the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son and call His name Immanuel”. (Meaning God with us – any emphasis is mine)
Looking at Matthew’s account, Joseph’s side of the story is told (Matthew 1:18-25). He was engaged to Mary, and when he learned she was pregnant, he had plans to have her “put away” privately. An Angel of the Lord (most likely Gabriel as named in Luke) appeared to Joseph, and told him of the child being the Messiah. Joseph believed the Angel, and took Mary as his wife without further hesitation.
Luke gives Mary’s side of the saga. In Luke 1:26-38, the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary, who was a virgin, engaged to Joseph – a descendant of David (v. 27). The Angel called Mary a “favored one”, and that she would carry a son, and call His name “Jesus”. Gabriel told Mary this would be the “Son of the Most High”, and He would have the throne of David. So naturally, Mary was overwhelmed, as she told the Angel she had not “known” any man. The Angel said, “Nothing will be impossible with God” (verse 37), and in verse 38, Mary said, “Yes, I am a servant of the Lord; let this happen to me according to your word.” (NET) Does this in any way sound like a “forced sexual assault”?
It should be noted, the prophecy of a coming Messiah was known throughout the Old Testament, and by His birth, over 100 prophecies were fulfilled. Mary would have at least heard about the prophecies as her cousin, Elizabeth, was married to a temple priest. Elizabeth gave birth to a son called “John” later known as “John the Baptist”. He was deemed the forerunner of Jesus, and was six months older than the Messiah.
In Luke 1:46-55, Mary gives a “Hymn of Praise” to the Lord for “choosing” her to be the mother of the coming Messiah. She realized after her Angelic visit, that she was the “virgin” named by the prophet Isaiah. She felt “honored”, not sexually violated!
Mary and Joseph put up with all the “rumors” about her birth from unbelievers – especially the Sanhedrin. However, Jesus’ parents knew who He was, and fulfilled their roles in supporting Him to His adulthood. Jesus’ ministry started when He was 30 years old to give Him credibility in the Temple. (Numbers 4)
By the “professor” tainting the story of the birth of Jesus, he is playing directly into the hands of satan. One article said he was “trolling” Christians and definitely a secularist. He has claimed he’s a satanist, and his “holiday tree” is decorated with a satanic inverted pentagram. Just for the record, he has the absolute right to do this, but not to push his agenda on anyone else, especially students that rely on him for a passing grade.
We are told in 1 John 2:18 about the coming antichrist (the evil one of Revelation), and the antichrists that already are here – and have been from the day of the cross to now. These have been, and are, preparing the way for the appearance of the ultimate evil one (named above), and for some reason they believe they will be “rewarded”. Sad part is they don’t believe the Bible, but the time will come when they will be forced to admit it is truth. Romans 14:11, “For it is written, as I live says the Lord, every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will give praise to God.” Philippians 2:10-11 echoes this, “…so that at the name of Jesus, every knee will bow – in Heaven, and on the Earth, and under the earth, (11) and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the Glory of God the Father.”
Although I feel sad for any who do not accept Jesus as their Savior, I would never try to force my will upon them; and the Father will not do so either. I have no problem answering any questions about my belief to anyone who would ask (1 Peter 3:15). No matter what, it is entirely their decision to accept or reject Jesus. That goes for family, friends, co-workers, or anyone who knows my beliefs. I can personally save no one. However, I can give them the formula, so they can call on Jesus and be saved. (Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13):
Acts 4:12 tells us there is no other name by which we can be saved.
John 14:6 – Jesus Himself says this very thing.
Romans 2:11 says God shows no partiality of anyone. Yes, the Jews are His chosen, and the Church has not replaced them. For the Jewish people to have a home in Heaven, they must accept Jesus (Yeshua) the same as everyone (Romans 10:12).
Romans 3:23 tells us all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of the Father. Jesus was the only “human” who lived a sinless life while on this earth.
Finally, Romans 10:9, “because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Have faith that this is so).
The gift Jesus gave through His sacrifice at Calvary, is available to All who will accept it. There is no price you or I can pay; no deed we can do to earn it; and we definitely do not deserve it. He gave Himself willingly (John 10:18) so we could be forgiven our sins and be with Him forever.
For the radicals – false teachers, antichrists, satanists – to try and force their beliefs on others is dead wrong. Yes, they will pay dearly one day (Revelation 20:11-15); but there will be many who follow them. For some, the lure of this world’s “treasures” is over-powering. And, they don’t look at the “eternal” picture. Jesus knew it would be like this and He told of it in Matthew 7:13-14.
The day is drawing very close when we will see 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 15:51-53 fulfilled. All believers at that time will be taken up (Raptured), to meet Jesus in the air, to be spared from the Wrath to come.
All those who have not accepted Jesus, will be subject to entering the 7-year Tribulation spoken of in Daniel and Revelation. It will be a horrible time, and it’s estimated 2/3 of the world population will not survive, including Israel, as given in Zechariah. To die before or after the Rapture without Jesus, will put someone at the White Throne Judgment, and then into the Lake of Fire.
It can be avoided by calling out to Jesus to be your Savior. He will turn no one away. Your sins will, be forgiven – all of them – and when you sin (not if), you will have 1 John 1:8-10 to fall back on as your rescue net.
Your eternity is your choice. Heaven or Hell – no other options. And please don’t listen to people who ridicule the Bible. Read it for yourself, and be better off by far.
Shalom!
