Unbiblical Statements

Unbiblical Statements
By Dennis Huebshman

Recently, I posted some words that are not in the Bible yet are still valid words. Rapture, Trinity and Bible were some of them and yet we know their meanings very well. The main people that argue against these words are usually non-christians who try to disavow anything the Bible has to say and are against anything that refers to the Father and His Son Jesus.

Now, how about some statements that even some Christians are caught saying thinking they are part of God’s word but are not. They sound good, but I challenge anyone to provide scripture and verse on each. These statements have been around for a long time, and there are more. I am only going to cover a few here.

Let’s start with “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”. This had to originate with a frustrated parent or other care taker in trying to get someone to clean up after themselves. Good thought – not Biblical.

How about one of the most popular “God Helps Those Who Help Themselves”. Wonderful (?) thought and inspires self-help and motivation, but very non-biblical. In fact, it almost says a person doesn’t need God to get things done. How about Matthew 7: 7-11 with the “ask, seek and knock” statements. God wants us to ask for things and will provide according to His will. To not ask and to be self-serving and is to actually insult the Father.

“We are All God’s Children”. This is almost a battle cry for the new-world order who try to tell us all gods are the same, or all paths lead to the same god. Even the pope uses such language. I’ve purposely used small “g” with the above gods, because this definitely doesn’t refer to My God. The ONLY path to my Heavenly Father is through His Son – Jesus – as plainly stated in John 14:6. ”Jesus said I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me”. There are other passages in the Bible that expresses this, but this is the absolute straight and narrow that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 7: 13-14.

“We all worship the same god”. This directly correlates to the above non-biblical statement. Again, God is the Creator, the Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – and is not to be associated with the gods of this world. Man, from the earliest times has tried to make objects to worship that he can see, feel and give homage to. The very 1st. Commandment given by Jehovah is (paraphrased) you shall not have any other gods before me. Even worshiping objects that refer to anything in Heaven is forbidden. It is all right to have a cross or an angel pendant, necklace, etc., but only as a REMINDER of our Savior. These are not to be worshipped, prayed to or any other form of such actions as it’s a definite violation in God’s eyes. Just remember, the only worship, praise, glory and honor belongs to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. All else is sacrilege.

How about “Bad things happen to Good people”. Thing is, we live in a sin-filled world and satan has a lot of control over it. John 16:33 says: These things I have spoken unto you that in Me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulations but be of good cheer as I have overcome the world.

“God will not send you to hell and we’ll all be in the same place after we die”. In the past, I posted a message on “Crowns and Judgments”. In it, I gave three judgments for believers who will ALL end up in Heaven. However, there is the Great White Throne Judgment in Revelation 20:11-15 EVERYONE at this judgment chose not to accept God (Old Testament) or Jesus (New Testament) and will be thrown into the Lake of Fire with the Anti-christ, False Prophet, satan and his demons. They will be there forever by their own free will. God does not want anyone to go there as told in 2 Peter but being a faithful and just God will allow that choice if we’re stupid enough to make it.

Just one more for this message, and I have to admit I have been guilty of this one. At the death of a loved one or trying to comfort someone who has just lost someone people say: “Heaven has another Angel”. The words themselves may be comforting but a human will never be an angel. At our death, we will be going to one of two places – Heaven or Hell. For those who were believers (or too young to have reached the age of accountability) their soul will be with Jesus immediately. For those who were unbelievers, their soul is in a holding place of torment until the White Throne Judgment. The best example of this from our Savior is in Luke 16: 19-31 – the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. Also, we don’t want to be an angel. They actually look at us in wonder as to why God loves us so much that He would send His Son to die for us. (1 Peter 1: 12).

All this to say – All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved (Acts 2:21 and Romans 10:13). Also, Romans 8:1 – There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. These statements are in the Bible as well as John 14:6 and the other verses I have referenced.

John 8:32 and 36 – You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. If the Son therefore sets you free, you will be free indeed. That is if we seek the real truth in the first place.

Plain and simple truth – Accept Jesus as your Savior and you will have eternity with Him in the most splendid place we could ever imagine. Reject Him and you will have an eternal punishment where you will be shown constantly what you could’ve done not to be there. These are real statements and can be backed up Biblically in numerous places. Don’t get all caught up in the statements that aren’t there.

You have a choice to make if you already haven’t. Heaven or Hell – there’s no third choice. Joshua 24:15 (again paraphrased) as for me and my family we choose the Lord We would love to have you join us at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19: 6-9).

Shalom!
