The Mighty Angels of Daniel 12: Shine Like Stars
By Nathan Jones
Shine Like Stars
Nathan Jones: Daniel 12:2-3 explains the resurrection of the saints. That’s when God’s faithful will receive our eternal bodies upon resurrecting to eternal life. The children of God live forever!
“And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”
The opposite is also mentioned, concerning those who will have died in faithlessness and rebellion to “shame and everlasting contempt.” In other words, they are sentenced to Hell.
The Bible teaches that those who’ve accepted Jesus Christ as Savior are considered wise. We shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, in other words, the stars in the heavens. And, for those who lead other people to our Savior, for those who lead many to righteousness, we too will shine “like the stars forever and ever.”
Does that mean our heavenly bodies actually glow or not, or it this a symbolic description of our lives shining forever? Either way, there’s a great future in store for everyone who is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Vic Batista: How exciting for the believer in Jesus Christ! First Corinthians 15:52 reveals that in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, Christians are going to be transformed and changed into our glorified forms.
Nathan Jones: Christians will be raptured, meaning caught up, off this earth to meet Jesus in the clouds and travel on to live in Heaven with our Lord forever. The Rapture happens before the terrible Tribulation time period that is coming upon the world. Our bodies will be transformed from the broken down, worn out, and sickly earthly bodies into our glorified, perfected, heavenly bodies.
Vic Batista: I couldn’t have said it better myself. We are waiting for that wonderful resurrection and the transformation of our earthly bodies to our eternal forms. As verse 3 states, those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the stars. That reminds me of a Proverb which says that those who win souls are wise. Wisdom and evangelism apparently go hand in hand.
Nathan Jones: Jesus commanded His followers to get out there and share the Gospel so that other people can also have the same hope and the same future in Heaven that we have.
Vic Batista: When we look at the Bible, it is very clear God’s plan for the ages involves a reconciliation between God and humanity. Wayward people must repent and return back to their loving Heavenly Father. We just need to use godly wisdom in how we reach the lost.
Nathan Jones: Right, when verse 3 references those who are wise, well wise people follow the Great Commission of Acts 1:8 and go out into the world and share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Vic Batista: I love that verse 3 reveals those who turn many to righteousness shine like the stars forever. The crucial message of the Bible is that mankind must repent and return to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The first segment of this series on the mighty angels of Daniel began with a tragic back story. In the eightieth segment, we shall be introduced to staggering prophecies that predicted what life would become like in our very day.
