The Prophecy People Don’t Believe

The Prophecy People Don’t Believe
By Nathan Jones

Is there a prophecy so accurately fulfilled that some people don’t believe it?

Our special guest on Christ in Prophecy, Dr. Mark Hitchcock, makes that amazing claim!

Mark was a lawyer who felt called by the Lord to give up his legal career and enter into full-time ministry, so he enrolled in Dallas Theological Seminary. Since 1991, he has been the Senior Pastor of Faith Bible Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. Mark’s published many books related to Bible prophecy, including one of his best titled The Amazing Claims of Bible Prophecy: What You Need to Know in These Uncertain Times.

The Prophecy People Don’t Believe

Mark Hitchcock: The Bible contains a prophecy that many people just don’t believe, and it is related to Daniel 11. Daniel 11:1-35 contains at least a hundred, and some believe 135, prophecies that have been fulfilled. All of those prophecies can be found in one mere chapter in a matter of 35 verses!

Daniel 11:1-35 prophetically chronicles the time when Israel is in living in between the Old and New Testaments. Geographically, Israel is also in the middle of two warring Greek dynasties. The Seleucid Dynasty resides up north of Israel in Syria, and the Ptolemies dwell down south of Israel in Egypt. Both dynasties are locked in an ongoing battle for supremacy with Israel stuck in between. Israel became the buffer zone between these two powers.

Daniel 11 then chronicles this “in between” time period. The Angel Gabriel revealed to the Prophet Daniel God’s description of the activities that different individuals under the King of the North and the King of the South would be carrying out over a few hundred years. And, the chapter is just unbelievably detailed!

Remember that Daniel 11 alone contains some 135 prophecies in just 35 verses. For those people who don’t believe the Bible is God’s Word, or don’t believe in God at all because they have an anti-supernatural bias, they conclude there is no way this chapter could have been written by Daniel in the Sixth Century B.C. They deny that Daniel 11 is prophecy and so had to have been written after these events came to pass.

For example, there was a Third Century critic named Porphyry, one of the initial skeptics, who came up with the idea that Daniel didn’t really write Daniel during the Sixth Century. He claimed the book of Daniel was written later after the after these events occurred.

Really, just stop! Read Daniel 11:1-35. It includes incredibly detailed prophecies. We have to accept that historical and archaeological evidences confirm this book was written about 400 years before these prophesied events took place. Daniel’s prophecies are staggering! Such minute precision and details contained in these prophecies is proof positive the God of the Bible is the one true God.
