Fulfilled Prophecies – Part 1

Fulfilled Prophecies – Part 1
By Dennis Huebshman

Not counting children below the age of accountability and the mentally incompetent that have been that way since birth, when Jesus calls His Church Home it will be about 10% of the population of the world that has left. Among the Jewish people, it’s even less with about 1% – 2% of them being Messianic, or believe Jesus is the Messiah.

This will leave a majority of today’s population to face the worst time that this earth will ever see. At least 2/3 of those who face the 7-year Tribulation will not live to see the end of it.

During Jesus’ time on this earth, none of the New Testament had been written. So, everything He referred to when quoting scripture came from the Old Testament writers. Also, prior to the birth of Christ, about 450 years had lapsed since the final book of the Old Testament had been written.

Jesus fulfilled over 108 prophecies before He left the earth. Mathematically, the odds of anyone fulfilling this amount of prophecy is staggering. Also, they were all fulfilled totally, not just in part. To give an example of what the magnitude this represents, the odds of 1 person fulfilling just 8 prophecies is 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000 or 1 in 10 to the 16th. Power. Fulfilling 48 prophecies is 1 in 10 to the 157th. Power, and 1 person fulfilling all 108+ prophecies could only be Jesus our Lord!

The odds of 15 being fulfilled completely is substantially more than 8 which makes the Bible more reliable than any other source on record. It also insures us that what has been prophesied about the future is to be taken literally and as absolute truth.

The New Testament was written after the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus the Christ. Archeologists have found thousands of manuscripts of this event, and some are dated less than 100 years after the original letters were written. The Bible is superior by far more than any other of the ancient writings. Over the past several decades, scientific discoveries have continued to verify the Bible’s accuracy.

God gave us these prophecies to build our faith, and lead the way to His Son, Jesus, the Lamb of God slain since the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8). My hope is you will know without any doubt, that His death and resurrection were the sacrifice for our sins, and with His death, He paid not only for our sins, but the sins of the world, (1 John 2:2). He paid for you with His precious lifeblood as the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose Him for this purpose long before the world began. He was sent to earth for ALL to see, and He did this for you and Me (1 Peter 1: 19-20) God knew when He created the heavens and the earth no mortal being, born of a man and woman, could provide an acceptable sacrifice. Below are 15 prophecies that were made and when they were fulfilled.

#1 – THE MESSIAH WILL BE BORN IN BETHLEHEM. Micah 5:2 (8th. Century BC) – But you O Bethlehem Ephrathah are only a small village in Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel will come from you, one whose origins are from the distant path.

Fulfilled: Matthew 2: 1-6 – Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea during the reign of King Herod…Herod called a meeting of the leading priests and teachers of religious law, and asked, “Where did the prophets say the Messiah would be born? In Bethlehem, they answered.”
Luke 2: 4-5, 7, 15 – And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea. David’s ancient home……he took with him Mary, who was obviously pregnant. She gave birth to her first child, a son.
John 7: 42 – For the scriptures clearly state that the Messiah will be born of the royal line of David in Bethlehem the village where King David was born.

#2 – THE MESSIAH WILL BE BORN OF A VIRGIN. Isaiah 7:14 (8th. Century B.C.) – the Lord Himself will choose the sign. Look! The virgin shall conceive a child: she will give birth to a son and call Him Immanuel – God is with us.

Isaiah 9: 6-7 For a child is born to us, a son given to us. And the government will rest on His shoulders. These will be His royal titles: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His ever expanding, peaceful government will never end. He will rule forever with fairness and justice from the throne of His ancestor David.

Fulfillment: Matthew 1: 20-23; As Joseph fell asleep, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to go ahead with your marriage to Mary. For the child within her has been conceived by the Holy Spirit, and she will have a son, and you are to name Him Jesus. He will save His people from their sins.

#3 – THE MESSIAH WILL BE A PROPHET LIKE MOSES. Deuteronomy 18:15 (about 1260 B.C.) – The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your fellow Israelites, and you must listen to that prophet. (Moses was giving instructions to the House of Israel as to what they must do to stay true to the Lord.)

Fulfillment: John 7: 40-42 – When the crowds heard Him say this, some declared “This man surely is the Prophet”. Others said, “He is the Messiah”. Scriptures clearly state the Messiah will be born of the royal line of David, in Bethlehem.

Acts 3: 20-23 – He will send Jesus your Messiah to you again for He must remain in Heaven until the time for the final restoration of all things as God promised long ago through the prophets. Moses said the Lord you God will raise up a Prophet like me from among your own people……

#4 – THE MESSIAH WILL BE TEMPTED BY SATAN – Psalm 91: 10-12 – No evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your dwelling. For He orders His angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking you foot on a stone.

Fulfillment: Matthew 4: 5-7 – Then the devil took Him to Jerusalem to the highest point of the Temple and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off. For the scriptures say He orders His angels to protect you. And they will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking your foot on a stone.” Jesus responded, “The scriptures also say, Do Not Test the Lord Your God.” (even satan was not adverse to using scripture, although he always twisted it to fit what he wanted.)

#5 – THE MESSIAH WILL ENTER JERUSALEM TRIUMPHANTLY – Zechariah 9:9 – Rejoice greatly, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph. O people of Jerusalem, look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble riding on a donkey – even a donkey’s colt.

Fulfillment: John 12: 12-15 – Then next day, the news that Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem swept through the city. A huge crowd of Passover visitors took palm branches and went down to meet Him. They shouted Hosanna (Praise God)! Bless the One who comes in the name of the Lord! Hail to the King of Israel! Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, fulfilling the prophesy that said “Don’t be afraid people of Israel. Look, your King is coming sitting on a donkey’s colt. (see also Matthew 21: 8-11 and Luke 19: 35-37)

#6 – THE MESSIAH WILL BE REJECTED BY HIS OWN PEOPLE – Isaiah 53: 1,3 – Who has believed our message? To whom will the Lord reveal His saving power? He was despised and rejected – a man of sorrows, acquainted with the bitterest grief. We turned our backs on Him and looked the other way when He went by. He was despised, and we did not care. (As I said in a previous post, Jesus wasn’t the popular Hollywood type.)

Fulfillment: John 12: 37-38 – But despite all the miraculous signs He had done, most of the people did not believe in Him. This is exactly what Isaiah the prophet had predicted: “Lord, who has believed our message? To whom will the Lord reveal His saving power.

We will finish the fulfilled prophecies in the next section.
