He’s Just THAT Kind Of God

You’ve heard His name spoken when speech turns crude & profane
Curses uttered in a conversation as though EMPHASIS they’d gain
Irreverent jokes can also foolishly take His name in vain

Perhaps one day you said a hasty prayer but it never came to fruition
Not realizing HIS will was far better in this circumstance with its unseen condition
So you became indifferent, viewing everything about Him with suspicion

But just how much do YOU KNOW about the God you’ve heard of since you were a child?
What is YOUR comprehension of a Sovereign Supreme being…Creater of the entire universe compiled?
Is there insight & perception into His Holy Righteous nature…pure & undefiled?

OR do you see Him as just a “big busy” God with no interest in the small details?
But, remember He gave EXPLICIT instructions about Noah’s Ark…down to the very nails
He created wit & humor, as HIS gift, when unrestrained ignorance in life prevails

He’s Just THAT Kind of God

Human minds can be overwhelmed by One who possesses absolute MIGHT
He declared to Abraham “I am Almighty God!!” “Walk before Me in the way that’s right”
“Trust in Me” “I’ll lift all your burdens” “All your enemies, I’ll help you fight”

He’s a God of peace…inner-peace & confidence, when your life says “just give up” instead
His Everlasting Arms are a certain refuge when others have deserted & fled
But one day, God the Son will be the “Just Judge” of all the living and dead

A God who LISTENS, eager to have His children call on Him in prayer
As El-Rohi (the One who sees me), of all our thoughts, actions & motives, He’s fully aware
He’s a PERSONAL God, desiring a one on one relationship…a truly intimate affair

Ever watch a love story…the kind that brings tears to your eyes?
Remember the cherished feeling on your wedding day or the joy of your child’s 1st cries?
These emotions are possible because GOD IS LOVE!! Of complete “self-less” love, His nature is comprised

He’s Just THAT Kind of God

An inviting God…who INVITES us to OPEN our heart’s hidden secret place
A generous God…giving everyone talent, skills & abilities that adorn our lives like elegant lace
A forgiving God…accepting our repentance, removing our sins without a trace

Have you broken a promise…one that in your heart you truly MEANT to keep?
Determined resolutions, good intentions that fell by the wayside when “cares” got too deep
But God is the Ultimate Promise Keeper…a Help to the helpless when the way gets steep

Don’t we fall short in steadfastness & fidelity to our Saviour when HE is FAITHFUL EVERY day?
Even when our OLD nature creeps back in…in what we do & say
He remains the LOYAL Good Shepherd, watching over us as sheep that are PRONE to stray

Do we realize that in the “fullness of time” there will be a terrible judgment on a lost human race?
But at the same time, do we understand that He’s a God of Compassion, Mercy & Grace?
How He WAITS for us to CHOOSE Him, allowing “free-will”…letting us have our space

He’s Just THAT Kind of God

Now, it’s true He fashioned us ALL in the womb & with the Breath of Life He’d adorn
But, it’s ONLY by ACCEPTING His offer of Salvation that into His FAMILY we’re born
Thus becoming His CHILD, a permanent irrevocable bond…by His sacred oath sworn

He’s a REVEALING God…giving profound enlightenment and indication of what the future will hold
Consider how He’s ABLE to do INCREDIBLE MIRACLES, just as He did in days of old
We’re privileged to call Him Master, Lord, Teacher…encouraging us to overcome & receive a crown of gold

He tells us to BE READY, “I’m coming for you” maybe yet today
When you least expect Me, in the twinkling on an eye, MY OWN will be raptured away
Leaving behind those who have never repented or ever bothered to pray

These are just a FEW of the faces of God we can comprehend to a small degree
But there is SO MUCH MORE that remains a complete mystery
Characteristics & attributes He’ll make perfectly CLEAR as we live with Him in eternity

The first stanza made me think of a song by the old gospel group called The Couriers. I believe it was written by Neil Enloe who was one of the original members. It's entitled: "More than Just A Swear Word."

As men profane His holy name each day
