Default MotoGP + SBK + AMA = Moto Racing

I know I'll be the only one here on this thread but I figure I'd start it anyway.

Let me start by educating the uneducated with a few definitions...

MotoGp : GP is the 'GranPrix' of motorcycle racing in the world. They are 1000cc prototype bikes that are made and designed for racing and speed, nothing else. They are bikes that are not mas produced for market sales. Only Ducati has a GP bike that was produced for public sale, the Desmosedici D16-RR (16 valve Race Replica). Ducati only made 200 of them and you could be the proud owner of one for a mere $70,000.

SBK : FIM World Superbike Championship is the premier class of Superbike racing in the world. A 'superbike' is basically no different then the 1000cc sport bikes you see on the street. They are only modified in the brakes and suspension and other parts to reduce weight. Very little of the engine and other parts are changed from what you get from your local dealer.

AMA : American Motorcycle Association is the class we have here in the U.S. The AMA has a few classes that can be confusing. They have a superbike class (1000cc) , as well as a sportbike class (600cc - 800cc). The sportbike class are basically bikes strait off the showroom floor of your local dealer with some safety changes for racing it.

These are the only street bike racing you'll see on TV(SPEED TV). There are others around the world (obviously) that we don't see here in the States.

I hope I can get others excited about this. If you ride a bike you can appreciate this sport and how these guys can race at speeds reaching 200mph and cornering at speeds of 130-150 with there knee dragging the ground. If enough show interest I'll try keeping everyone updated.

I like moto2 and BSB the best. I'm hoping this year's MotoGP class is a little more exciting than recent years. Of course I don't think anyone is going to keep up with Stoner. Sad that Super Sic passed away, he was going to be a force sooner than later.

I've hung out with Josh Hayes and Jake Holden on several occasions. Both very cool guys. Hope they both do well this season.

I agree. I can't really get into moto2 but I still watch it. BSB is great, I have '98-'08 season review DVD's of BSB and they are very competitive and some really great racing, great tracks also over in Europe. To bad there not aired here in the U.S.

Stoner ,I agree, will again be the man to beat in '12. And Simoncelli , wow, what a sad thing that was. Definetly a force that will be missed.

I was able to meet Ben & Eric Bostrom and Neal Hodgson. Living in Daytona has some advantages.

My dream would be to meet Wayne Rainey and Mich Doohan.

The Daytona 200 is this Saturday the 17th. It will be aired on the SPEED channel, I expect everyone to watch it....at least some of it.

In the world of road racing the Isle of Man was always the big one.

    Again.

The first round for MotoGp was Sunday. Not a strong field for Ducati but Honda and Yamaha shine LARGE.

    1. Lorenzo - Yamaha
    2. Stoner - Honda
    3. Padrosa - Honda

Is there a cricket sound some were ?

The real action was actually in the AMA this (last) weekend. Do I need to put out a showing shout out for you on Saturday night to remind ya ?

Yes Sir, twice. The last shot where the camera was a goodly distance from the rider really showed the speed they are making. Those guys have to be drained when they finish that race!

SPEED needs to get there stuff together. I really wish I could start a moto channel network. I didn't catch the moto2 race but the GP race was the same ol same ol. Stoner won, then Lorenzo and Padrosa. Nicky Hayden qualified 3rd on the grid and ran a great race the first 6 laps then started to fade - ended up 8th with Rossi a pathedic 10th. Ducati needs to just drop Rossi at season end - he isn't riding like he used to. He has already been testing with Ferrari (F1) for the past few years - I'm thinking they want him healthy and he's not wanting to get hurt riding GP.

Did anyone see the World Superbike (SBK) races over the weekend ? WOW !!! What an amazing 2 races.

BMW has only been in Superbike racing now for 2 or 3 years and had yet to win a race....till Mothers Day weekend. There riders took 1st & 2nd in the first race. The second race would have been the same - but the rider that won in the first race couldn't settle for 2nd and was riding a bit to reckless (IMO) and ended up getting bumped in the final turn and ended up taking both BMW riders out. Neither one gets a cookie. Talk about "pride before the fall". Wow, what ego.
    Great races.

SPEED just showed race two today for some reason. At least for me. It was awesome watching those front 5 go at it. My problem is I'm a fan of a ton of racers so I never know who I should root for. I don't like Biaggi but I have to admire his win it or bin it attitude. There were a couple of sketchy moves he made that race.

The SPEED announcers made it sound like it was Rea's fault for the Beemers crashing but it looked like whoever was in second (Melandri or Haslem, I couldn't tell at that point) leaned on Rea too hard and caused his own crash.

So much better than the GP races.
