Re: Four-star QB DaMarcus Smith enrolled at WKU
WKU had a pretty strong recruiting class--however, it is small. Only 13...the team is still relatively young. But with a 4 star QB, a 5 star RB and several running backs listed in the top 20, I'm hoping for some good football (finally) in the next few years.
I haven't seen much of Troy's recruiting this year, but Arkansas State had a very strong class recruited (thanks to their new coach) this year. I think will have 23 coming in with this class.
The good thing is, after only about 10 years of the Sun Belt Conference playing football--and despite getting 'dissed' for several years of being weak and a joke--the conference is making some big strides in football. I think this is the first year the SBC had four bowl eligible teams, and three went to bowls (of course, WKU got ripped off and didn't get one). I think three SBC teams bowling is a record.
One thing for sure, the SBC needs to secure more bowl tie ins. I'm hoping with a new conference commissioner coming in this summer (Wright Waters is retiring this summer), that might happen.
