WKU has officially landed its most highly-rated quarterback recruit.

The Herald has learned former Seneca High School (Louisville) quarterback DaMarcus Smith, a four-star dual-threat quarterback according to Rivals.com, is officially enrolled at classes at WKU.

Smith, who competed at the Elite 11 QB camp his senior year at Seneca, arrived at WKU yesterday afternoon, after commitments to the University of Louisville and Central Florida fell through his senior year.

Smith's former teammate at Seneca, wide receiver Michael Fluellen, is also officially enrolled and on campus at WKU.

Fluellen, a 6-foot-5 wide receiver, was also a Class of 2011 with an offer from UCF.

Hmm, interesting. I'm not even sure who Troy signed this year.

WKU had a pretty strong recruiting class--however, it is small. Only 13...the team is still relatively young. But with a 4 star QB, a 5 star RB and several running backs listed in the top 20, I'm hoping for some good football (finally) in the next few years.

I haven't seen much of Troy's recruiting this year, but Arkansas State had a very strong class recruited (thanks to their new coach) this year. I think will have 23 coming in with this class.

The good thing is, after only about 10 years of the Sun Belt Conference playing football--and despite getting 'dissed' for several years of being weak and a joke--the conference is making some big strides in football. I think this is the first year the SBC had four bowl eligible teams, and three went to bowls (of course, WKU got ripped off and didn't get one). I think three SBC teams bowling is a record.

One thing for sure, the SBC needs to secure more bowl tie ins. I'm hoping with a new conference commissioner coming in this summer (Wright Waters is retiring this summer), that might happen.
