OK, to start with, I'm a Carolina Panthers fan, and, OBVIOUSLY, I don't have a "dog in the hunt" in this year's NFL playoffs (again).
BUT, I have been hopeful for Tim Tebow's success in the NFL after learning, last year, about his placement of Scripture verses on his "eye black" during his collegiate career.
I should additionally state that I -- also a Cowboys fan -- have been a lifelong opponent of the Steelers.
Thus, tonight, I was ASTOUNDED by the performance of Denver and Tebow in their defeat of the STEELERS!!!!
And, after the network coverage ended of the game, I switched to the NFL Network, and saw Tebow's postgame press conference. AWESOME! I CLOSELY paraphrase Tebow here, but it was something along the lines of, "First, I want to give my thanks and praise to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and thank Him for all that He's done for me and all He's given me. And I want to thank my teammates..." Some media members even asked him about the "platform" that the NFL provides him to promote his faith, and he agreed, and went on to thank God for the opportunity!!! How AWESOME is that?
Those who have paid attention know that Tebow has a "trademark action" that he performs after a score, when he drops to one knee, rests his elbow on his knee that is off the ground, and bows his head forward, resting it on his "fist" that is extended just in front of his face. In that position, he then offers a prayer of thanksgiving to God. So, did anyone see the postgame discussion with CBS' studio crew? Their "studio team" is usually James Brown, Charley Casserly, Bill Cowher, Boomer Esiason, Dan Marino, and Shannon Sharpe. Not sure if ALL of them were there, tonight, although I KNOW that James Brown, Bill Cowher, and Shannon Sharpe were all there. Plus one or two more. Not sure who. Anyway, at one point, one of the guys asked another -- I believe it was Cowher -- to make a prediction about next week's game, when Denver has to play New England AT New England. The question was asked, "Can Tebow do it again?" In response, the analyst took on a thoughtful look, then placed his elbow on the desk, then slowly lowered his head towards his fist, just like Tebow does when thanking God for an on-field success. The other guys began to chuckle, as all of them quickly mimiced him, all of them placing their elbows on the desk in front of them, all of them then lowering their heads toward their hands, while chuckling aloud...It was, at least to me, pretty offensive. Of course, I know that Christ Jesus was mocked, and that "no servant is above his Master." And, I'm guessing that Tebow would probably laugh it off and pay it no mind if the incident was brought to his attention, but it just strikes me that, if a Muslim player in the NFL dropped to both knees, faced towards Mecca, and bowed completely down to celebrate an on-field success, no one would DARE to poke fun at him, nor would ANYONE chuckle! Again, I know that such things are simply a sign of the times, and that, "...because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold." I just was stunned that they would be so blatant in their mockery of Tebow's faith. OR, perhaps I completely misunderstood them...although, I don't THINK so.
Anyway, did anyone else see this?
I bring all this up only because I'm thinking that, if God blesses Denver to go to the Super Bowl, and if they win, and Tebow is then the QB of the "world champions"... can you imagine how nuts the "sports media" will go when, as QB for the Super Bowl champs, he then gets all of that "automatic face time" on camera, and he uses it to proclaim the Name above all names? How AWESOME would THAT be???

) and texted me about the game. When I told her about the thread on here that called Tebow God's QB, she said that God could have him.
...I hope that won't be a common response from sore loser fans.

Sure, makes for a good story, but the only reason the Broncos won was they played half the Steelers because half were injured or couldn't play.
(my sister is a die-hard Steeler fan though, so don't ban me!) As a side note, whenever OSU plays the gators, people drive hours away to this one deli to buy gator-meat...maybe you should ask your local meat market/deli to stock it specifically for whenever your team plays them...it might give you some measure of satisfaction to be chomping on gator during the game! My hubby is an OSU fan, and I bought him an OSU doormat. As a Wolverine fan, it gives me great satisfaction to wipe the scum off my shoes on it.
