    Default Prayer for Jim Zorn?

Let me start by saying that I am, in NO WAY, a Washington Redskins fan! As a lifelong DALLAS COWBOYS fan (except when the Cowboys are playing the Panthers), I have an ABSOLUTE DISLIKE for the 'Skins on the field!

That having been said, though, I want to ask that all of us pray for 'Skins coach Jim Zorn. Firstly, I heard recently -- and I forget where -- that he is a brother in Christ. I can't prove that, and, again, I don't remember where I heard that, exactly. But, if it is true, then we are told to "bear each other's burdens," and I can't imagine how it must feel to be in his shoes right now! (I remember how awful it was to bear through the Panthers' 1-15 season in 2001 as a FAN. I can't imagine how it was for Coach Seifert).

Now, they've stripped Zorn of his play-calling ability on the sideline.

Again, I don't want his TEAM to win because of my personal sports biases, but on the other hand, I sincerely feel for this man, and how I imagine it must feel to have the entire sports media laughing at you for hours on end.

And, if he IS a Christian, I think that we should ask God to strengthen Mr. Zorn to keep his Christian witness strong, regardless of where this NFL season takes him. And, if it is God's will for his team to come alive this season as a testimony to Him, then let my biases be silent, and may God's will be done.

Does anyone know anything about Mr. Zorn's Christian walk, or lack thereof?

I do believe I heard several years ago that Coach Zorn is, in fact, a believer and yes, he does need uplifting prayer. In a world where your value is only as good as your winning ability, he is being torn apart and not recognized for his value as a believer. Let's be praying not only for him but all professional athletes and coaches that are believers that their lights will shine in a dark world and touch the lives of those spectators and broadcasters that need salvation.

Well, I'll pray for him, and may I add I definitely want his team to win when they play Philadelphia this coming Monday night.
    This is why:

    Signs of the Apocalypse

An animal rescue organization will donate five bags of dog food to a Washington, D.C. shelter for every time Michael Vick is tackled when the Redskins play the Eagles next month.

I feel sorry for the guy-it was only 2 weeks ago(after thumping the Raiders 31-18, and for that matter too looking good in a month long stretch despite the losses) when the Redskins cleaned house in management, and started interviewing HC candidates to replace him(including Jerry Gray, the secondary coach, and Mike Shanahan was rumored to being talked too). Ultimately, Dan Snyder let him down, and his team responded by quitting on Zorn in these last 2 weeks against the Giants and Cowboys.

Zorn was never a bad coach, but he's surrounded by bad personnel-their conditioning coach is one of the worst in the league.

Well, Zorn got fired almost immediately after the '09 season, and Shanahan was hired right away.

Can't blame Zorn completely for the disasterous '09 season - too many injuries, especially on the OL(they had to pull guys off the street), their kicker blew 2 games for them, and that meddlesome owner cleaned out the front office like 2-3 weeks before the season ended, as it looked like the Redskins were playing well and putting a springboard into next season, and then they mailed it in after all the news broke out over the FO firings.

Jim Zorn was formerly a QB for Seattle, maybe others. He is a believer, I think I've read his testimony although I can't recall where. As an aside, Mike Singletary, the coach of the SF 49ers is also a Christian,...singer too, I think. He went to my alma mater (Baylor). He was awesome as a linebacker then. Tony Dungy, Kurt Warner are two others who come to mind...there are others. There is an interesting web site called Iamsecond.com. On it numerous peope of all kinds give their testimonies. Two of the QBs in this years college draft have their testimonies listed....Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford.
