Southeast U.S. in a severe drought

Dear Friends, I have been watching the Weather Channel a lot lately, and the states in the Southeast U.S. such as Alabama and Georgia are in a severe drought situation. The meteorologist said that, if this area of the country doesn't get some rain soon, they may have to ration drinking water. They already have cut back on watering their lawns, taking baths and showers, etc. We really need to pray for these people that they'll get rain, lots of it, soon!!!!

    :woah:  :prayer
Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King. Hallelujah!! We're going to see the King!!!

Yeah, it's pretty bad in my area. But there are other factors involved in this issue other than the drought. I've heard that a big problem is the Atlanta metro area is growing so fast and getting overpopulated that even with normal rainfall it would be hard to keep up with the demand much longer. But no, the drought doesn't help either. I've got a bonehead neighbor who has been out the past few days washing his car that doesn't have any paint and just sits in his driveway all the time. Talk about wasting water.

We are very dry here in Fitzpatrick, Alabama. Our pecan trees are loosing their branches. That is very bad as my mother and my house trailer are in a pecan orchard.

We'll be outside and hear a loud crack. We all cover out heads and run for shelter. :laughbounce It's become a daily ritual to drag the fallen limbs to the "limb pile" We can't burn them because it's too dry. So we've accumulated quite a little pile.

Let's do pray for rain. OH no! I forgot to change the computer over to my name hehe......this is vmoon....ann s. is my mother. I'm at her house right now.

Troubles and strife are not caused by the Lord. But He uses them to teach His children, get their attention off worldly things, and urge some into action. Remember the "dust bowl" of the 1930s? He will use this to His pleasure as well.

I really enjoy reading both of yall's posts very much! 2:

Oh.......it's extremely dry and dusty, dusty, dusty here in Tn. also. We have a slight chance of rain Tuesday I believe. We need lots of rain......but not floods. :)

3 million people here in Atlanta have only 3 months of water left. They're thinking of using the treated sewage. Ugh.

I heard something on the Weather Channel the other day that said these states affected by the drought need as much rain as they would get from a level 2 hurricane! That's a lot of rain! Please be in prayer, folks!

Why? I think the entire US is going to slide down the drain; I'm waiting for the news report that a bomb has gone off here in NY. So, if the Rapture is coming, and the Tribulation is coming, I don't understand praying for anything other than folks humbling themselves, receiving Jesus as Savior, and the Holy One glorifying His Name.

Adopted Son's sig states it pretty well....that fat lady is getting ready to start singing and it's not going to be pretty. At least I don't think it will be.

Well, meanwhile, until the Rapture DOES happen, do you want millions of people to NOT be able to use water for drinking, bathing or cooking???? I agree with you that we need to pray for people to repent, but why not also pray that the Lord would be merciful to people until the time comes for Him to start pouring out His wrath?

We live outside of Atlanta, the weather man said rain today and tomorrow.
But as for us we did not see any. We do need all of your prayers. Yes we are waiting for the Rapture and need to pray for the lost. BUT we are told to look for His coming but prepair for tomorrow.
The lakes are going dry and so are the rivers. We will be with out drinking water in 60days. I do not believe a few rains here and there will do any good. So we ask all of our brothers and sisters to hold us up in prayer.

Why does anybody want to water the lawn? It just makes the grass grow so you have to cut it again. :laughbounce

Seriously, though, I know this is a critical situation. While the city of Wilmington now forbids lawn watering and washing of vehicles, those of us with well water have no such restrictions. I haven't even been watering the garden, and I have 6 miniature roses in bloom. I'm doing my part, though -- I'd much rather later in the morning that get up and take a shower. ;)

Mama has a well too, but the pump is broken. I guess we need to see about getting it fixed. She didn't have a garden this year so the well hasn't really been missed that much.

Default No Backup if Atlanta's Faucets Run Dry

No Backup if Atlanta's Faucets Run Dry

    Oct 19, 5:14 PM (ET)

    By GREG BLUESTEIN

ATLANTA (AP) - With the South in the grip of an epic drought and its largest city holding less than a 90-day supply of water, officials are scrambling to deal with the worst-case scenario: What if Atlanta's faucets really do go dry?

So far, no real backup plan exists. And there are no quick fixes among suggested solutions, which include piping water in from rivers in neighboring states, building more regional reservoirs, setting up a statewide recycling system or even desalinating water from the Atlantic Ocean.

"It's amazing that things have come to this," said Ray Wiedman, owner of an Atlanta landscaper business. "Everybody knew the growth was coming. We haven't had a plan for all the people coming here?"

I understand what you're saying Huggy, but I'm saying from watching people, when there's plenty of comfort (no matter what type of comfort) the natural behavior of people is to ignore G-D. People are like that - then when things get bad they remember Him. He hasn't come off of His throne to tell me this but I strongly suspect that the reason why America has fallen so far away from Him is because it's been so predictable here. The weather has been fairly consistent, the economy - up and down but nothing catastrophic, no wars on our soil, freedom to pretty much go where we want; when we want. The nation as a whole needs a trip to the 'woodshed'. There are consequences to sin and unless this nation is forced to look itself in the mirror, there will be no change and no repentance. No, if left to its own devices, this nation will continue to rebel.

So, the question to you is - what is of great 'value' to this nation? Prosperity and comfort, OR a better relationship with Him?

    Genesis 18

    20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;

21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.

22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.

23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?

24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?

25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

26 And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.

27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the LORD, which am but dust and ashes:

28 Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.

29 And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake.

30 And he said unto him, Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.

31 And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the LORD: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake.

32 And he said, Oh let not the LORD be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.

LORD, I am but dust and ashes, but I will take it upon myself to speak to the LORD and not withold any prayers that God will provide for the spiritual as well as the physical needs of the people in those areas affected by the drought, if it is Your will.
