Default Cool Down – Ok, It’s Only Temporary

I am sitting here this morning in Denver, it is 55 degrees and I am drinking coffee waiting for one of my cats to throw up a hairball so I can spring into action.

Finally, a little cool down. It has been hot (high 90’s) but cannot complain too much over Oklahoma or other parts of the US because we just don’t get the humidity. I thought I would post pictures of my last hike up in the Indian Peaks Wilderness where it was really cool. I believe we were a little over 11,000’. Beautiful!!! Suppose to do a 14’er before the end of the summer.

    Nope, no picture of me.

Trivia Question: How many states have mountains in the Rocky Mountain Range over 14,000’ (inside continental US) ???

I thought only Colorado had multiple Fourteeners.

It sure is beautiful out there. I recently enjoyed a trip to Pike's Peak, the Royal Gorge Railroad, and the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Beautiful pictures Brethorn56! Wish I lived close to that place. I'd love to hike those trails.

Ah, those pictures are breathtaking! 60 something degrees, how fortunate you are.
It's in the 100s here in Texas.

Yes, I am blessed to live here.

I never have been able to figure out the discrepancy on the 14’ers in Colorado but it is safe to say we have 53 of them while there are no others in this mountain range. I am only talking about the Rocky Mountains and not the Sierra’s or Cascades.

Its been feeling like you could melt her in Mississippi here lately. I almost literally though I could cook an egg on the sidewalk. I have a small car with a dark interior... And a improperly functioning air conditioner.

It reached 104 here in Western Oregon, and I don't have air conditioning. The humidity is low, so it didn't feel too bad. I'll be glad when Autumn comes, and it drops down to the 50's and 60's.

This was Lake Isabelle up in the Indian Peaks Wilderness just a little north and west of Denver. I have hiked up there off and on for over 20 years. We went up to just below Isabelle glacier. I think it was around a 6-1/2 mile roundtrip hike, maybe 7, not completely sure, but it was fun. Funny thing, I was swatting mosquitoes at the lake. Crazy!!!

I don’t normally post things like this but it was so cool this morning from a temperature standpoint that I couldn’t resist.

How lovely your pics are...thank you. Oh, to be there away from this relentless heat.

First time I went on vacation to CO, it was late July-extended to early August. It was a cabin somewhere up in the "hills". It didn't have air conditioning in it and I was honked my wife booked the room that had no A/C (I was on a business trip and we all met in CO after the biz trip was over--that's why she booked the trip).

I about froze to death--especially at night. I wondered why there was wood in the fireplace and the last folks there had used it! lol Never walked thru snow in August either. It is beautiful country out there.

Wow! Truly breathtaking pictures! They look almost 'fake' they are so beautiful....know what I mean? I would never want to leave such clean beauty, not to go back to the filth of city living.

The weather too is another perk. My youngest son has asthma so bad that any temp over 75, with humidity has him gasping for air. We've been having upper 80's, 90's and heat indices over 100 degrees, our a/c has been running over-time.
