SUNCHO CORRAL, Argentina -- A 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck northern Argentina early Monday morning, the US Geological Survey said.
The tremor hit at 2:07am local time, 21 miles (34km) southeast of Suncho Corral, in the province of Santiago del Estero.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. The quake was initially reported at magnitude 6.4 but later was upgraded.
Suncho Corral is around 630 miles (1,010km) northwest of the capital, Buenos Aires.
