    Default May 20 Annular eclipse

WhoooHoo !!! First time on mainland U.S. since 1994! The annular eclipse starts May 21st over Southeast China near sunrise. It passes Japan, then crosses the International Dateline, at which point the local date becomes May 20th.
The eclipse next crosses the California/Oregon border ( )and northeastern California and passes in the late afternoon over Nevada, Utah, Arizona, a corner of Colorado and New Mexico. The phenomena ends at sunset in Texas.

According to my calcs we should catch the event perfectly at Hallelujah Junction (highway 395 at 70)
Consider the words of Omar M. Ahmad, founder of CAIR: "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant." ... "The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America , and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."

Ephesians 5:18 (New King James Version)

18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

I Come To The Garden Alone Hymn

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
    And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
    None other has ever known.

Man...we never get to see anything cool in the skies--unless its sparks coming off the fire from the still.

YeeHaw, I hope the ending is a brilliant show. Sunsets in Texas are pretty awesome, all this flat land make it possible to see the entire horizon, so if there is a show to be seen this is a good place to see it.

Here's more solar eclipse info from the folks at the McDonald Observatory at UT Austin....Here in the DFW area, we will be able to see a portion of this annular solar eclipse on Sunday beginning at 7:32pm in Dallas (that's the location they based the time on. It will vary a few minutes depending on where you are). The eclipse will last until sunset at 8:23pm. To view it, you will have to have an unobstructed view of the western horizon because this will all take place very low in the sky...starting at 8 degrees above the horizon until the sun disappears at sunset below the horizon.

Above is from the Fox4 news facebook page. If you live in North Texas this is the time you will be able to see a bit of this solar eclipse.

I remember that one! I saw it in my freshman year of high school. If you get a chance to see it, it's pretty neat. If you look at the light passing through trees, you'll see a bunch of light rings on the ground. Same thing if you make a grid using the fingers of both hands. Or you could just do the old reliable pinhole in a piece of paper trick.

What I think is weird is from some of the reports I've seen on this--hardly anyone is telling people not to stare up at the sun. You could burn your retinas out doing this during an ellipse. They're basically telling everyone to "rush out west to see it", but not that those staring up at the sun are risking blindness.

We watched most of the event using one side of a of binocular to project the inverted image on to a file folder. Hunger got to us before the ring was completed. Memorable.....last one I'll see like that!!

That was one of the coolest things I've ever witnessed. The sun looked like there was window tinting in front of it. Looking through a welding mask at the sun was awesome. It looked like something out of a sci-fi movie. God is awesome with his creativity.

I had no welding glasses but looking through 6 pair of sunglasses and some window tint did the trick. Was very cool.
If you were charged with the crime of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?

Naw... IMO a can of Raid and a Bic lighter is more entertaining

I guess I need to change my definition of "entertainment".
