Default Latest Pics Show Extremely Dry North American Continent

Okay, this first pic of the earth is March 2008:

The second was taken this week:

I know its' not the same month and that it gets a bit greener as we get later in the year, but the North American Continent looks just a little TOO brown in the recent picture! The US Drought Monitor confirms that the nation is drier than average:

And the NDMC news reports as well:

I know that the brown in Texas is a true depiction of the drought. We have suffered tremendously the last couple of years. Two days ago much of the state got rain, it was very widespread, but up until that date there were places in TX that hadn't seen rain in over a year. We still need much more rain to completely fill the lakes back up and get Cities of water restriction ordinances.

    Joel, chapter 1 opens............

A time in the last days, right before and during the Tribulation.

Not just the US but all around the world.

Israel is experiencing a 7 year drought.

It's all in my backyard... In the South Eastern US you would not know it was a drought, but the weird thing is, 3 years ago it was as dry as a bone.

    Perplexing...

It is drier in some parts of North America than usual. But other parts are wetter. I noticed right off that the records are for a 12 year period. Not nearly long enough for a climate trend, but does show differences.

I think the two driving forces for this climate aberration is the sun spot minimum and La Nina. See this site for information on La Nina

That may be the case Carl, but from this pic, it doesn't look like many parts are all that wet.

    Don't buy the LIE!!

The "National Drought Mitigation Center" is a FRAUD! It has NO power or technology to deliver the goods implied by its lofty title.

The agency is just another of the global coalition to change our way of life under the charade of "climate change".

It is arrogant humanism to believe we can change the seasons and cycles appointed by our our Creator.

The Industrial Revolution had NO contribution to the "dust bowl era". How often does the your weatherman have egg on his/her face after the prediction is shown to be faulty? Even with satellite and radar imagery, the best they can deliver is what was actually recorded for a given DAY. Please look at the link below. Looks pretty consistent to me. Our weather is driven by the sun. Weather is the process of temperature trying to reach equilibrium while interacting with dissimilar surfaces.

Great post GlennO, truth told Brother.

As for those images... they are virtual apples and oranges when it comes to what they are exhibits of.

The top image taken in March 2008 reflects North America at the conclusion of a normal wet winter.

The picture taken last week depicts North America in the middle of a dry winter and when all the grasses of the Great Plains are in their normal mid-January period of non-growth DORMANCY (i.e. not green, but dormant brown).

Glenn, in fact it is very much possible to sin against that which the Lord our God created with dire consequences...

    Isaiah 24:5-6 is very specific:

    5 The earth is defiled by its people;
    they have disobeyed the laws,
    violated the statutes
    and broken the everlasting covenant.

    6 Therefore a curse consumes the earth;
its people must bear their guilt.
Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up,
    and very few are left.

Let me ask this a couple of things here:

    1) Isaiah 24 speaks about the "everlasting covenant" being broken and the earth becoming desolate. Are we to disregard that?

    2) If we assume this is normal, what happens if we're wrong?

"Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men." 2 Peter 3:3-7, NASB, emphasis mine)

Glenn, I just want you to know that even though I disagree about this topic, you're still my brother in Christ. The quote isn't aimed at you.

    Robert -

    I just read Isaiah 24

    Beliver's Bible Commentary (BBC)
Judgment on All the Earth (Chap. 24)24:1-3 The judgments of God seem to start with the land of Israel, but they widen to include the whole earth and even wicked beings in the heavens. "The earth" may also be translated "the land," and the reference to the priest in verse 2 suggests that the land of Israel is in view in verses 1-3. Notice how the text alternates between the land and the people. The destruction is cataclysmic and affects all classes of the populace.
24:4-13 Mention of "the world" in verse 4 suggests that the theater of judgment has widened. The cause of worldwide pollution is that men have broken the everlasting covenant. Some take this to refer to the Noahic covenant (Gen_9:16), but that unconditional covenant depended entirely on God. Others think that the Mosaic law is referred to, but that was given only to Israel, and is not said to be an everlasting covenant. The Bible Knowledge Commentary says it is "the covenant people implicitly had with God to obey His Word." The city of confusion could mean Jerusalem, but in a wider sense could include all urban civilization.
24:14-20 A preserved remnant is heard singing the praises of Jehovah for His saving grace.
Then the prophet mourns the dread horrors of the Great Tribulation. It will be a time of treachery. Escape will be impossible. The earth will careen like a drunkard, as if struck by a mammoth quake. It falls to rise no more.
24:21-23 The wicked hosts in heavenly places will also be judged. This corresponds to Rev_19:19-20; Rev_20:1-3. Kings of the earth who have served as their puppets will share in this judgment at the Second Advent of Christ. The Lord's surpassing glory will put the sun and moon to shame.

It sure looks like a tour of the Earth during the Great Tribulation to me.

I live in Idaho. We have had the most mild winter so far. The temps have been mostly in the 30-40 range for December and January. So I have a quesitons for you all. Is there any chance that the earthquake that struck in Japan that shifted the earth on its axis 8 degrees have anything to do with this much milder winter? Just wondering?

    Bobbi-

Eight degrees would really raise havoc with the weather.

(Space.com) The massive earthquake that struck northeast Japan Friday (March 11) has shortened the length Earth's day by a fraction and shifted how the planet's mass is distributed.A new analysis of the 8.9-magnitude earthquake in Japan has found that the intense temblor has accelerated Earth's spin, shortening the length of the 24-hour day by 1.8 microseconds, according to geophysicist Richard Gross at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.Gross refined his estimates of the Japan quake's impact - which previously suggested a 1.6-microsecond shortening of the day - based on new data on how much the fault that triggered the earthquake slipped to redistribute the planet's mass. A microsecond is a millionth of a second. "By changing the distribution of the Earth's mass, the Japanese earthquake should have caused the Earth to rotate a bit faster, shortening the length of the day by about 1.8 microseconds," Gross told SPACE.com in an e-mail.

More refinements are possible as new information on the earthquake comes to light, he added. The scenario is similar to that of a figure skater drawing her arms inward during a spin to turn faster on the ice. The closer the mass shift during an earthquake is to the equator, the more it will speed up the spinning Earth. One Earth day is about 24 hours, or 86,400 seconds, long. Over the course of a year, its length varies by about one millisecond, or 1,000 microseconds, due to seasonal variations in the planet's mass distribution such as the seasonal shift of the jet stream. The initial data suggests Friday's earthquake moved Japan's main island about 8 feet, according to Kenneth Hudnut of the U.S. Geological Survey. The earthquake also shifted Earth's figure axis by about 6 1/2 inches (17 centimeters), Gross added.

The Earth's figure axis is not the same as its north-south axis in space, which it spins around once every day at a speed of about 1,000 mph (1,604 kph). The figure axis is the axis around which the Earth's mass is balanced and the north-south axis by about 33 feet (10 meters)]"This shift in the position of the figure axis will cause the Earth to wobble a bit differently as it rotates, but will not cause a shift of the Earth's axis in space - only external forces like the gravitational attraction of the sun, moon, and planets can do that," Gross said.

l"]This isn't the first time a massive earthquake has changed the length of Earth's day. Major temblors have shortened day length in the past. The 8.8-magnitude earthquake in Chile last year also sped up the planet's rotation and shortened the day by 1.26 microseconds. The 9.1 Sumatra earthquake in 2004 shortened the day by 6.8 microseconds. And the impact from Japan's 8.9-magnitude temblor may not be completely over. The weaker aftershocks may contribute tiny changes to day length as well.

The March 11 quake was the largest ever recorded in Japan and is the world's fifth largest earthquake to strike since 1900, according to the USGS. It struck offshore about 231 miles (373 kilometers) northeast of Tokyo and 80 miles (130 km) east of the city of Sendai, and created a massive tsunami that has devastated Japan's northeastern coastal areas. At least 20 aftershocks registering a 6.0 magnitude or higher have followed the main temblor."In theory, anything that redistributes the Earth's mass will change the Earth's rotation," Gross said. "So in principle the smaller aftershocks will also have an effect on the Earth's rotation. But since the aftershocks are smaller their effect will also be smaller."
Consider the words of Omar M. Ahmad, founder of CAIR: "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant." ... "The Koran, the Muslim book of scripture, should be the highest authority in America , and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."

I live in south east Michigan. My weeping tile for the house has been running since early summer without a break. That tells me that the ground is wetter than normal.

That 8.9 Mag earthquake in Japan last March shifted a Japanese GPS station by 8 feet (2.4 meters). It also caused a deviation to the earth's axis by just under 4 inches (10 centimeters).

We are currently in an El Niņo weather pattern. Here is what the mean of that patten is historically known to provide to the North American continent's winter weather:

A wetter than normal southeast USA, and continent-wide warmer than normal northwest and northeast.
