Default Airbus A380 is it too big last?

Airbus A380: World's biggest planes are not sky-worthy, say engineers | Mail Online

Looks like Airbus might have some troubles with their new planes... Article cites an engineer stating that fleet needs to be grounded until the issue is resolved......

IMHO I seriously doubt that this plane will have the longevity of a 747 that has a SOLID 40+ year flying record......

So glad American Airlines didn't buy into the super Jet. They are getting out of their least eco friendly planes the stupid, I mean super80 aka MD80. Other than that they are going to keep using their fleet. Gotta save $$$

I am glad they found these cracks before a crash, even though the article says the cracks were in non-critical areas. Whose to say what's critical at 37,000 ft.

What defines a non-critical area at 37,000 feet? I'd rather not find out. Any change in pressure would be devastating inside the plane. Could you imagine the conversation..."Hey Bob you remember those cracks along the fuselage near the wings?" "Yes I do Jim, what about them?" "Well Bob the good news is that they're not there anymore." "What's the bad news Jim?" "Neither are the wings."
This actually makes me think of all the problems with the rockets and space shuttles that went into space, got to love going with the lowest possible bidder. Yet the costs are still out of this world, no pun intended.

    Mixed ideas on this one.

It obviously has passed the USA/FAA air test which is very extensive and includes such things as bending the wings to simulate various conditions that could occur in flight(according to the article in the MAILonline the cracks are in the wings). So this should ally any worries.

But the fact that Australian engineers are asking for the planes to be grounded raises some concerns.

I would expect cracks to appear later in life and not so soon.
